btw it's like. extremely inappropriate to go up to random strangers IRL and say you think they're gay/trans/queer/etc. it's not funny, it's terrifying and a huge overstep of boundaries

it's also inappropriate and dangerous to just in general bring up someone else's queerness around people they are not already explicitly out to. i once looked a guy in the eyes and said "call me she/her and my deadname around my parents. it went badly when i came out to my mother and i am afraid of what she may do or say if she finds out i go by Nico when possible." and then we went outside and he immediately yelled "BYE NICO!" to me, because he didn't want to deadname me or some shit... directly beside my mother.

i still don't know what would have happened if she didn't mishear it as something else, and i never, ever want to find out. i do not care if it makes you feel bad, i do not care if you really want to make that gay joke, I DO NOT CARE IF YOU THINK IT'LL BE FINE, do not fucking mention someone's queer identity to another person without explicit permission.

I love how insane animators were in the 30s. Some guy just burst into the Betty Boop studio like "Guys, I got an idea: Betty runs away from home and is tormented by skeletons and evil spirits." and someone replied "Ok, sounds swell. Should we score that with some spooky orchestral music? Pipe organs?" and the first guy said "No, I already have someone to do the music. It's Cab Calloway, one of the most popular blues artists of all time. And we're going to rotoscope a walrus ghost over him." and everyone nodded and got to work
