Who’s the best character?

chadwick boseman:
Never thought I’d cosplay the Anime-Version of Sailor Moon once, but I was proven wrong. As part of our booth promotion, me and my Inner Senshi team from the musical all had a shooting in full transformation, joined by Chibiusa. The costume was NOT made by me, but by the wonderful Arianne, former member of the German showact Yume and I only got to borrow it for the day (tiara, earrings and odango shields were taken from my Sera Myu cosplay though). Mars’ costume was made by Cat2, all the other girls made their outfits themselves. Photos were once again taken by the talented bluenoir at AnimagiC 2018, Mannheim, Germany. Moon: me Mercury: Mariko Mars: Su Jupiter: KC8 Venus: Anna Chibiusa: Fuchsherz
Here’s a really weird couple for the toku people out there, lol! Had the chance to wear my Kagura costume again and finally get some nice photos, after my last shooting photos were accidentally deleted by the photographer orz Photos were taken at DoKoMi 2017, Düsseldorf, Germany by the amazing bluenoir. Kotoha: me Toq#1: That Spandex Guy Had to adjust the cosplay a bit since some of the old clothing items were unusable. I now have the official Saru Origami, thanks to my lovely friend Tricerablue. My old socks were stained with black acrylic paint, so these are brand new ones. My old shirt and shoes were broken, so I chose these silver ones I wear out of cosplay (since there wasn’t that much time to get new ones) and the shirt is actually Fourze merchandise (Gentarou wears this one sometimes in the show). Also, my old jeans shorts didn’t fit all that well, so I also used my everyday wear here ;)
Hey, kids, remember when I got that yellow wig for my Sera Myu Sailor Moon cosplay years ago? After going abroad, I totally screwed that one up and had to get a new one - which I also kinda screwed up, but not nearly as much and so I kinda got this cosplay going, lol. I also wore it for a stage performance in summer 2017- I was supposed to play Kaolinite, but we didn’t find a Moon and since I already had the costume... yeah xDD All photos were taken by the wonderful bluenoir. For the one with just me and Pluto: Pluto: SilverSerenity Moon: Me Event: DoKoMi 2017, Düsseldorf, Germany For the rest: Moon: me Rei: Su Makoto: KC8 Mercury: Mariko Venus: Anna Pluto: Laury Uchiha Uranus: Yui Neptune: Nibell Saturn: Kaju Tomoe: Stavros Event: AnimagiC 2017, Mannheim, Germany Love to all those beautiful people <3

chris hemsworth is following the small but beautiful tradition of hot male characters just there to look pretty and support the group of fun female friends otherwise known as the Tuxedo Mask Effect
Don’t you dare compare Tuxedo Mask to Kevin. Mamoru Chiba is a loving father, a supporting boyfriend/husband, and an ally who literally steps in to help the Senshi from time to time. Kevin did literally jack squat except act like a doofus and get possessed, all for the sake of “durr hurr this will show the wimmin haterz!”
While we’re at it, let’s talk about the role Kevin is meant to represent, that of Janine - she’s a no-nonsense, strong-willed, respected voice of reason to the original Ghostbusters who is smart and good at her job. Kevin is literally just there to be a laughing stock and make the reboot team look good by comparison. He doesn’t “support” them, sitting there and making their averageness look good by virtue of being ridiculously inept is not “supporting.”
So fuck Kevin’s character, fuck Paul Fieg’s brand of feminism, and fuck you for comparing Kevin to a character who actually was useful.
Okay I wasn’t going to get involved in this shit because I’m not even that big of a fan of Ghostbusters, but someone insulted Mamoru so here we go. Tuxedo Mask is literally one of the most vital members of the team. In a party, he would be your support character (like Tifa and Aeris in FF7 for example - and you better not call them weak and useless).
He is Not Useless. Not constantly showing off his strength doesn’t equal being weak or useless. Knowing when to step back, when he’s not needed, it’s not useless.
This is a misconception for Mamoru that grows increasingly frustrating because it shows people actually don’t care about the Sailor Moon mythos. (Including people that actually work on the series but that’s a different matter.) Mamoru’s fighting strength lies along a different path than the girls’ (it’s not as flashy) but that in no way makes him weak. His powers are subtle. He is Usagi’s Earth/human counterpart. He is as strong as she is, but in a different way. He has his own attacks, is skilled in swordplay (remembered from his past life), and is incredibly powerful in psychometry/healing (manga and Myu canon).
Including some forms of time travel, either sending his thoughts back to the past, or himself, without Pluto’s help!
He’s an incredibly loyal, loving, supportive character that is ALWAYS there when ANY of the girls need him, not just Usagi and Chibiusa. He works with the Outers numerous times (through various versions) and fights alongside them as an equal. He’s incredibly intuitive and gives great advice.
Other versions, like PGSM (the live action), fully explore Mamoru’s own character arc. Becoming a thief in order to find a mysterious jewel that’s haunting his dreams/regain his memories missing from the car crash, making the decision to fight for the greater good/justice because of the Senshi, and then accepting the responsibilities of his past life.
He literally has his own team of Guardians to protect and fight alongside him. In most versions, he loses them because Beryl takes control of the Shitennou/brainwashes them. (In PGSM, he gets them back and it’s wonderful..)
There’s a reason we don’t have a Sailor Earth - BECAUSE WE ALREADY HAVE ONE AND IT’S MAMORU. He just goes by a different name.
He also happens to have a very sassy, tongue-in-cheek humor that people forget about because of the cheesy speeches (which the girls also do!) He’s at times very ridiculous but always in an adorable, lovable way.
Even if he’s not your favorite, fans should respect Mamoru as a strong, fully-fledged character in his own right. He just happens to fit a trope that a lot of female characters get shoved into and it’s a shame when that happens to ANY character. They are all often way more than that and people sadly don’t care.
Frostbite883: In one word, how would you describe Yayao Ulshade?
I’m not really good at that. Sweetheart, maybe.
on accepting compliments in Japanese...
ORIGAMI10 SAID: ‘SONNA…’ (USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!)
Alright so I got this, and とんでもない and refusing before I accept… can I ask what the implications are of all of these contextually?? You are all so helpful @agirlinjapan @todayintokyo @origami10 (^3^)/
Ah, no, no, I’m afraid I can’t help much. I’m not an expert at all, but I’ll do my best. Here’s a nice post from Maggie-sensei.
Evil wink.
Maggie sensei, I am in awe.
Thank you!!
This is super useful. I’m always so worried I sound weird if someone pays me a compliment and I say そんなほどないです or whatever.
you honestly can’t go wrong with まだまだです 3 of my Japanese teachers have been like ‘don’t say sonna, it’s rude’ I can’t remember why tho 🙃
Really now! Honestly, I’ve heard from some people that そんな can be a bit strong, like actively correcting someone. But it doesn’t feel like (to me, an obvi toddler in Japanese) it would be in the kind of strong category shit like ぜったい is in or anything?
In English, I’ve started saying “not at all” a lot recently, in response to people saying thank you. I don’t know why. But I heard the same thing from someone Japanese, they were like “Isn’t not at all kind of harsh?” and I was like “not at all”
This reddit thread has further discussion of this. I thought I’d read that saying そんなほどない was polite, but on reflection I think it was probably そのほど and my brain totally missed the nuance that そんな is rude and inappropriate. Whoops, I have been saying totally the wrong thing for quite some time. I typically stick with the いいえまだまだです though, which is a relief as that seems universally agreed upon as being ok. There’s a lesson about compliments here too, the speakers sound like native Japanese speakers to me, so I guess that means it’s likely to be natural. I’ll see if I can ask a few people about this over the next few days and if they say anything useful I’ll reblog with comments.
I always just say “いえ、いえ、いえ” while looking down and moving my hand to say no and people seem happy with that. When they keep on, I add a “まだまだですが、ありがとうございます” . The thank you is a subtle (?) way for me to say that I’d like to change the topic and usually they get it.
OK, I asked my (native speaker) Japanese teacher in class and she said そんなことない (definitely NOT using ほど as I’d incorrectly thought before) or とんでもない were both appropriate and polite, I asked her if they might be considered a little informal and she said no. The いいえ、まだまだ seems to be universally agreed upon as ok, so I’ll stick with that if in doubt. In case any of you are thinking ‘JUST TAKE THE COMPLIMENT!’- this is a big social faux pas, you’ll look really arrogant if you quickly accept a compliment, especially if it’s only offered once.
The whole culture around praise is quite different in Japan. I read earlier that if someone praises you honestly it’s seen as saying ‘You can stop trying now’, so if they give you fake praise for your Japanese and you accept it it’s like saying ‘I am the BEST at Japanese, right?! Better than a native speaker!’. This praise culture and not wanting to encourage people to quit trying may be why teachers so rarely seem to praise students in the school system after elementary.
So far, I have done pretty well with just replaying “まあまあ” when someone compliments me, especially when people say that I improved in speaking or writing Japanese. I think it’s the elegant way of acknowledging your success without bragging. Especially because I have some people in university who are Japanese, but don’t really like it when people refuse a compliment (mostly people who were on a student exchange in Europe before). Not to mention that I get flustered when someone compliments me and forget all the pretty polite humble phrases, haha. I do thank people when they compliment my clothing though, like when they say my hairband with that cute bow is “かわいい”- is that considered bragging or is that okay? I mean, it’s about the thing, not me, so...?

On 2.7, episode 47 of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger aired.
I’m not very good at writing, but I’ll try to communicate my feelings to everyone in this post.
A year before I was chosen to be in sentai, I was 17 and playing a bad girl on the FIRST CLASS drama.
At 18, I graduated high school and became a working adult. Ever since elementary school, I’ve run towards work. With this year of this role standing behind me I think I can work towards a leading role.
There’s a lot I want to do. There’s a lot I want to see. In the middle of all these plans I heard I’d gotten past the preliminary round for sentai casting.
So, to be honest, I couldn’t just be happy about landing the role. That was my start as a hero.
Filming, in the beginning, was always early and I was scared of the staff and I never really wanted to go to set. My manager told me I was acting like a child every day.
But, you know. Somehow.
The time I spent with the 5 Ninningers was really peaceful and I grew to love it.
So I changed myself and my thoughts from the inside out.
At some point I really embraced the special feelings the show and my character, Momochi Kasumi, gave me.
Ninninger’s set was like school.
Every morning I go into the makeup room and sit in my specified chair. Even though we all had our own mirrors, Shunsuke would come use mine and be a total bother.
On the bus in transit to location, all the good-for-nothings would doze off. Hiisama and Yano were always so energetic and would talk, but the other 4 would stay quiet due to their low blood pressure.
Lunch was first come first served. Yano was always quick to eat and would rib at us, asking us what time did you eat? and so on. After we finished we’d play games with the staff. Gakkun is really good at games and I always thought that was great.
After filming was over we’d all ride the bus back and then the good-for-nothings would sit on the studio sofas and talk. An hour was a given. After we got tired of talking the 6 of us would just fall over on each other. Usually I had Yano and Kaito on either side.
Later. See you tomorrow. Of course we’d say that.
In the end, I realized that was not so usual.
We’d get angry together and apologize together. If we fought, saying good morning the next day was hard. Before events, we’d all go out to eat and discuss it.
I couldn’t say enough but I’m just so glad I had this experience with the 6 of us.
Something that’s not just friends or family.
Comrades.
In the future, the first I’ll tell happy news to or the first I’ll go to for a shoulder to cry on will be these comrades.
I’m so glad I met the 5 of them.
And Momoninger, Momochi Kasumi.
In this year playing her we both grew together.
My first older sister role.
I’m not an idol, I’m an actress. So for those 30 morning minutes, I wanted to really show that even for this children’s programming.
I wanted to properly face acting and this show and teach those around me.
I really loved Kasumi-nee, who hated losing, who was actually a bit of a crybaby, who had a sharp tongue but a nice heart, who really reminded me of myself.
Momoninger was the strongest.
When you fail, please think of Kasumi-nee.
There’s no setback you can’t overcome. If you want to cry, you should cry.
I believe that Kasumi-nee will continue to live on in all of your hearts.
Thank you for loving Momoninger/Momochi Kasumi.
Thank you so much for this year.
So, even though she’s graduated from Ninninger,
Momoninger will keep burning hot!
End.
This was Momoninger/Momochi Kasumi’s actress, Yamaya Kasumi.

Hello, everyone~!
Yesterday, the final episode of Shuriken Sentai Ninninger aired!
There are many things I want to write about, but first!
Thank you to everyone who’s supported Ninninger m(。_。)m
I put my all into filming Ninninger, my first show, but at the beginning I had a lot of doubts.
I started filming with the resignation that I would cry and be scolded.
The year wasn’t all fun.
I wasn’t great, and I have some painful memories, and honestly filming all day every day was difficult.
But the 5 of us were always by each other’s side, and that became 6 of us.
There was a lot the 6 of us could do together, and the other members really encouraged me.
I’m glad that the people I was with all the time were people that I liked so much!
I love the way everyone was really chill and did what only they could do!
And Sasano Takashi-san, playing our grandfather, and Yashiba Toshihiro-san, playing our father.
There really were many things I learned from them.
I learned a lot just watching them work, but they also directly taught me a lot of things.
I’m proud of the fact that we got to make this year-long work together!
And! Gomi Ryouko-san, who played Shironinger alongside me this year!
I’m glad it was Gomi-san I was working alongside to create the character of Shironinger and Igasaki Fuuka!
At first I wasn’t sure how to say my lines, what kind of girl Igasaki Fuuka would be, so I was just a little lost.
Gomi-san was the one who came up with Fuuka’s restless movements, and really gave Fuuka her appeal!
Thank you so much!
This year, of course the cast, all of our beloved staff, a lot of people came together to make these shining heroes and heroines.
For me, Ninninger is my starting point!
Having fought as a Ninninger, as Shironinger, is a point of pride that I’ll carry with me as I go forward!!
Thank you to everyone who liked Ninninger m(。_。)m
I wanted to give something good to you all, so I did my best.
So I’m glad I got to be a hero and was able to hear your words and hear you cheering my name!
Really, truly, thank you.
We’re all going our separate ways, but please watch over us all.
Take care of us!
On that note!!
This feels like the end, but there’s still G Rosso shows and the Final Live tour!
A V Cinema’s been announced, too!
Ninninger isn’t over yet!
Please support the new Zyuohger but also still Ninninger!
With that!
Thanks. Ninninger

Hello~!!
I wanted to update yesterday but I started thinking about everything I wanted to tell everyone so it ended up late.
Shuriken Sentai Ninninger has finally finished.
As I was watching the last episode, all my memories from this year came flooding back, and my eyes grew hot.
I’m so glad I could be a part of Super Sentai’s 40th anniversary and got to be part of “Shuriken Sentai Ninninger.” Of course there was pressure, but there were also so many people supporting me.
I wondered, a year ago, if me with my little experience would be a good fit for Igasaki Takaharu, Akaninger. But now I know deep down that I am “Igasaki Takaharu/Akaninger.” Because I faced the truth that I really love Igasaki Takaharu/Akaninger more than anyone else.
Ninninger’s broadcast may be over, but Shuriken Sentai Ninninger will live on forever in my heart. Igasaki Takaharu/Akaninger lives on inside me. I’m sure that he’ll live on as the New Last Ninja and keep going along his “That’s hot, I’m getting fired up!” path.
I want Shuriken Sentai Ninninger and Igasaki Takaharu/Akaninger to live on in all of your hearts, too.
So I like to think it’s not over, it’s just going on a long trip! It’ll come home some day. Takaharu is always Takaharu.
I’m grateful that I met the 6 of us who could overcome anything, the lovely staff, and all of the fans who love Ninninger.
Thank you for this happy year.
Thank you for supporting Shuriken Sentai Ninninger this year.
Lastly, a light Ninninger album!
Thanks scripts.
Thanks Ninnin dojo.
Then Fuuka, Kasumi, Takaharu, and Nagi when we finished filming. We all cried a lot. And laughed a lot. Nice work.
A photo album I got from the staff at the end of filming with messages from all of them.
I won’t hide, wasshoi into the future!
Shuriken Sentai Ninninger.
good-bye
More Kamen Rider the Diner noms from my last visit in January. Drinks: Kamen Rider Kuuga Cocktail (alcoholic), Kamen Rider Hibiki Green Tea (comes with a cracker) Food: Kamen Rider Mach Cheese Gnocchi, Kamen Rider W sweet Pizza
7/11 Strawberry Bear Mousse Cake. It’s so damn cute but at 328 yen for something smaller than a cupcake, it’s too expensive. The mousse is creamy and artificially strawberry-y, plus there’s a cookie center that’s like raw cookie dough that someone used twice the amount of recommend sugar for. Do not buy for your 4 year old. Buy it for your enemy’s children.
I’d recommend the white version. I found that one really yummy.
Mach: "So, Senpai, this is my buddy. He's a Roidmude, but---" Blade: "Yeah, I think I know where this is going..."
I got a bunny he’s being shy but his previous owners, two of my co-workers, assure me he’s an asshole
Yes, but he’s your asshole now and you should be proud.
This little asshole is now running around the room like a maniac and trying to eat my carpet. I love him.
I also used to have one as a teenager. She started out as a sweet and lovely baby and then she became an asshole to everyone. Though I kinda made her be nice to me when she was older. Maybe being an asshole is a bunny thing.
Dobutsu Sentai ZyuOOOger!
