NOT ME YOU SLOP ARTIST
This is a close up? A CLOSE UP YA JERK! A CLOSEUP!
Alright, let’s get this picture started! (The End) NO NOOOOO!
One of the defining moments of animation history.
“Ain’t I a stinker?”
In Babylon 5, didn’t one of the non-humans think Daffy was the god of frustration?
Holy shit, this is nearly 70 years old. This would have been right on the heels of color television being commercially available to the public.
@amayatepes look at this
LMAO
Huh. That’s just a whole ass Daffy Duck cartoon.
Everything about this cartoon is top-notch. The timing, the animation (watch Daffy’s different walks) the art; this is a treasure
This is a hate crime against me personally
Two World Cup finalists from opposing teams in this fucking picture, this sport isn't real
Context for anyone who is wondering: Lamine Yamal's parents won an UNICEF raffle for a charity photoshoot in which Barça players posed with kids, and 5 month old Lamine happened to get 20yo Messi. Which is like. Literally insane
local matchmaker losing it over yet another unrealistic demand from the clientele 🤣🤣
Translation by me. :))
“Even a slightly increased possibility of summoning rain is still an ability to summon rain” is such a good point
Why not find a Jewish man? We can control the weather 🤫
But do any of them have the character for "water" in their names?
oh boy i sure do love having tons of trinkets

Pedestrian traffic lights
Ooooh, we have a bunch of really fancy pedestrian traffic lights in Germany! I need to share:
Starting off with the difference between formerly Eastern German traffic lights (upper images) and formerly Western German traffic lights (lower images):
The city of Erfurt had some additions, like an umbrella or a heart:
Same sex love in Marburg (upper image) and Frankfurt (lower image):
Traffic light lady in Bremen:
Karl Marx light in Trier:
Face of Friedrich Engels in Wuppertal:
Elvis in Friedberg (Hessen):
A sparrow (for the Golden Sparrow film awards) in Gera:
Winemaker in Bad Dürkenheim:
Mainzelmännchen (mascot of the public broadcasting service ZDF) in Mainz:
Otto Waalkes (German Comedian) in Emden:
Town musicians of Bremen in Bremen:
A miner in Pirmasens, Rheinland-Pfalz:
Bishop in Fulda:
Source: Saarbrücker Zeitung
Enjoy!
And we call these "Ampelmännchen" ("traffic lights little man").
omg that's amazing! I wanna visit Germany just to take pictures of all the cute traffic lights.
in the Egyptian wing of the museum and my boyfriend is like "what are all the time periods of ancient Egypt" and I'm like predynastic, early dynastic, old kingdom which is when the pyramids were built, first intermediate, middle kingdom, second intermediate, new kingdom which includes amarna period and yugioh, third intermediate, and then all the late period stuff and macedonian and roman eras. and he's like run that by me one more time
HATE when u can feel ur intestines writhing. cease your wriggling insolent belly worm
WHEN do you ever feel that
the worms yearn for escape
The worms are telling you to go see a doctor...
@entities-of-posts the corruption/flesh?
After my hysto, I was in *intense* abdominal pain that didn't feel like wound pain from the ablation but something different that I couldn't explain, until the gynecologist told me "yep, that'd be your intestines rearranging themselves into the gap left behind by your uterus."
So there's a mental picture for you. Slither slither. Slither slither.
awwww, they were exploring their new enclosure 😍😍😍
oh GOOD tags:
#exact same thing happened to me after my hysterectomy #my single remaining ovary is just wandering around in there now. we call him odysseus #we dont know where he is
Depictions of the Beast pre-Disney are so funny to me because illustrations range from Curious George...
...to a giant rat...
...to a warthog with rizz...
...to some sort of scaly gremlin creature...
...to a kindly gentle bear.
Disney really perfected this aspect of the fairy tale.
Find more info, and credits of all of the paintings/illustrations here:
Bruh don't even get me STARTED on depictions of him in theatre. Here are two of my favorites! The Disney Broadway costumes in my humble opinion are solidly meh. A little dated, but still fun. I figured I'd drop puppets here instead.
"Beauty and the Beast" (Chichester Featival Theater, 2017, Puppet Designer: Nick Barnes)
"Beauty and the Beast" (Synetic Theatre, 2023, Puppet Designer: Zana Gankhuyag)
And an honorable mention to the 2022 Beast Puppet from the Disney 30th anniversary celebration production bc it is a cool puppet, I just think he looks wayy too goofy and tbh feels too much like Nick Barnes' design.
La belle et la Bete dir. Jean Cocteau 1946
I do know that there is another version from czechia? Sorry my brain can't find it right now. Where the beast is more bird like
Here's Your Answer Right Here. ;)
The Czechoslovakia Adaptation is called, "Panna a Netvor" (aka "Virgin & the Monster").
Technically The Most Aesthetically "Beauty and the Beast" version right after "La Belle Et La Bete".
Co-signing both of these tags from @girl-mercury:
adding some other pre-disney beasts I think are cool
john d batten (1904)
eleanor vere boyle (1875)
warwick goble (1913)
w heath robinson (1921)
Adding two more of my favorites.
Mahlon and Kinuko Craft (2016). After Disney but who cares with these details so rich you just want to crawl into the painting and never come out again.
Hilary Knight (1990). Just bareeelllllyyyyy before Disney though it's possible this was influenced by preproduction promo stuff? Regardless, one of the coolest and most dramatic Beasts I've ever seen. The thigh-high boots! The phoenix feather cape with the head clasp! He may not have opposable thumbs anymore but dammit you've gotta have style!

These are so good.
Absolutely stellar.
