* [At the startle, the guitar’s mood lightens up a little, suppressing the urge to laugh. After a moment, though, he gets himself under control. This… wasn’t the best introduction, he had to admit, but he wasn’t as angry anymore.]

[…no. I wanted to see how you’d react. Now I know.]

[ ….私は期待したことを知らない. Anyway, introductions are in order.] 

✮ Well next time, maybe don’t stiffen up while waiting for someone to answer the door, yeah? Got to stay loose and confident.

* [Katsuo starts getting up, dusting himself off, wiping his hands on his shirt. He gives a lively smile at the guitar though, showing that he wasn’t too perturbed by the scare. He extends one hand to shake, though even wiping his hand on his shirt didn’t too much to clear up the oil stains.]

✮ I’m Katsuo, owner and only employee of Katsuo’s Mechanic & Repair Shop, soon to be the first monster Kamen Rider! But! My friends just call me…Katsuo!

* [He punctuates that last restatement of his name with a jab of his thumb at himself with his other hand.]

* [The guitar let out a strange sound at that, halfway between a scoff and a guitar strum, puffing out his ‘chest’, actually the rather thin neck of the guitar.]

♪♩♫, ♬♪♫♩♪. ♩♪♫, ♪♫. 

[ May not be loose, but I’m always confident. good t’ meetcha, Katsuo.]

* [Having already forgotten the previous slight, Yuuken bends down a little and extends his ‘tail’ for the other to shake. A bit undignified, but it would do. The alternative was shaking his guitar picks, and those didn’t have too much substance to them.]

* [At the questioning of his name.. Yuuken backs up a bit, and puffs his chest out, before lightning starts to arc from his strings and head to the ground, crackling as it goes.]

* [One moment, two.. and the guitar starts to quiver on its’ own, just before Katsuo picks it up. As his fingers near the guitar, it bursts to life, ‘sitting’ up with an angered expression on its’ face.] 

♪♫♪!? ♫♪♩♪♫! 

[Take me apart?? あなたは楽器を尊重しない!] 

* [He would introduce himself after a moment, and he couldn’t get angry enough to fight the other, considering his deception, testing him.. But he wasn’t happy right now. He takes a deep breath, before calming down somewhat.] 

♩♪♩♫♫. ♪♫♩♪, ♪♫♪♪. [こんにちは. I’m Yuuken, and I’m the musician that texted you.]

* [The guitar springing to life, to put it into the plainest words possible, scares the shit out of Katsuo! The Inugami yelps as it happens, falling back onto the ground on his rump in the shock of it all.]

✮ くそ! それは話す!

* [For that one moment of silence, Katsuo only blinks a couple of times at the living instrument, even after it introduces themselves it takes him a few seconds more of just staring before he can find the words to speak.]

✮ …Do musicians normally greet their clients by making their souls fly to heaven? Doesn’t seem like a good business practice.

* [Where was it, where was it.. Here. Yuuken slithers up to the unfamiliar shop in New Home, looking for the dog he had texted and knocking on the door of the building with his ‘foot’. He was looking forward to seeing this ‘hero’ that needed a theme song in person. And if he was really a mechanic, maybe he could even.. no. Best not to think about that so soon.]

♪♩♩♩♩!! ♫♪♬? 

[Hellooooo!!! Anyone here!?] 

*[..All of a sudden, an idea strikes him. Test the other’s reaction, see how they would react to a little joke. Or seeing some lost surface tech just sitting there. Yuuken didn’t like doing this, normally, but he’d be aware of his surroundings the whole time, and it’s not like he couldn’t turn back at any moment. As soon as he knocked on the door, Yuuken reverted to his standard guitar form, clattering to the floor as he suddenly stiffened out.]

✮ The door is open! Just let yourself in!

* [A voice from inside calls that out, apparently busy with something or other. A moment more, they call out again.]

✮ Hey! Did you not hear me? You can just come in!

* [A few moments more, then with a sigh and some quiet grumbling, along with the clattering of tools, the owner of the building comes to the door, hands dirty and face stained with a bit of oil, opening it and looking around.]

✮  はい? Hello?

* [Eventually Katsuo looks down, spotting the now inert Yuuken, only recognizing them as a simple guitar.]

✮ え? 誰がドアにそれを残すだけですか?

* [He squats down to pick them up, eyes already running up and down the instrument in a cursory examination.]

✮ Well, I guess it’s free tech to sell off. Damage seems superficial…Actually, I could maybe take it apart and use the parts for something else!

[That was a blast! I may not have been able t’ put on a concert like I wanted, but I got this rare set of Virtanium picks from Santa!! They can channel my magic and slice through stuff with ease, unlike my crappy old plastic picks!!]

* [Yuuken certainly wasn’t expecting the other to do that; if anything, he was expecting them to keep hiding behind the shamisen and attack him, with him unable to attack back. He was still pissed, sure, but he couldn’t help but respect such an honorable action. After Kaito puts the shamisen down.. He still doesn’t attack, lightning dying down.] 

…♪. ♪♬♩♬, ♫… ♪♬♪♫♩♪. ♫♪♫♬, ♪♫♩♬. 

[…Ugh. I’m still pissed, but.. Maybe you’re not as much of a dumbass as I thought. Attack me now if you’d like, but if you do I’m going to keep fighting. ]

* [ He hoped that Kaito would get the hint. He was still mad, he still wanted to lay the beatdown on this kid, but.. Maybe he could forgive him for waking him up so rudely, just this once, for not using that instrument as a shield. If Kaito stopped attacking now, Yuuken would probably calm down, and they’d be able to have a second introduction. ] 

“I didn’t want to in the first place, you’re the one that attacked me, stupid guitar.” He huffed; he was not letting this stupid thing get the last word in if he had anything to say about it. Perhaps that was him just being extremely stubborn over something just as extremely trivial, but he wouldn’t let this thing be the one to sway the truth of what happened. Not on his watch.

In the end, if this thing wanted to keep attacking him after making it seem like he wouldn’t, Kaito would be pulling it out to help him fight. Uncertainty be damned, he wasn’t going to go down and certainly not against someone going back on their words. It probably was the best for both of them if they just both calmed down and stopped. 

Especially since they both seemed to start clashing pretty easily.

* [Yuuken had nothing to say to that. He was the one who attacked first, after all, and despite the ‘stupid’ insult ticking him off, still, he was still off-balance from the whole thing with Kaito putting the Shamisen down enough to not act on it. Instead, he lets out a small huff, relaxing.]

[ Right. Introductions, then, take two. ...Name’s Yuuken.]

Gremlin noises. He's just slunk over to the guitar, and he seems a bit interested in it.

* [Yuuken’s just relaxing by a tree, and furrows his eyebrows when the other comes near.] 

..♬? ♫♪♬♫? 

[ ...Yeah? What do you want? ]

* [ At that, the guitar felt like he had been struck, and his rage bubbled ever hotter inside of him; afraid!? He was never afraid! He lets out a noise that sounds like a half-shred, half-growl and lets off some more electricity into the ground, but still doesn’t attack. ] 

♪♫♪♩♬!!

[ You’re hiding the same way I’d be if I was holding an innocent human in front of me so you couldn’t hurt me! THAT’S what I mean! ] 

* [ Look at him.. size him up.. there. If Yuuken could slide through the other’s legs, he could attack him from behind without damaging the other instrument. Now, he just had to wait for the right opportunity. ]

♫♪♬!? ♩♫♬, ♭!! 

[ And I just don’t want to hurt my own kind, why the hell would I be afraid!? If you think having a code of honor makes me cowardly, something’s seriously messed up with your moral compass, dumbass!!] 

Kaito just blinked.

This was… not what he expected to be happening at all; not that anything that has happened to him lately was expected either. He looked down at the shamisen in his hands, back up to the enraged guitar before him, before looking back down again. He… guessed that he understood that reasoning. I this stupid guitar saw this instrument as one of his kin, than Kaito really was doing as it said he was.

It… was a strange way to look at things but… he kind of understood it. As much as he really wanted to see what would happen if he tried channeling his SOUL through this instrument, it wasn’t right. Plus he had been doing fine without it before anyway.

So the boy backed up…. and placed the string instrument against a rock behind him. This was beyond stupid of him to do, but the comparison was in his head. “There. Happy? If you hit it, it’s your fault now.”

* [He actually seems quite happy about that! The guitar proudly raises himself up to his full height.]

[ Yeah, I can tell you the story about it! This was back when I was with my- ] 

* [..And then his countenance falls. Possibly a bad memory...?]

[ ...My original owner. ] 

* [The guitar takes a small ‘breath’, again, despite not having a mouth, before continuing.] 

♬♫♪,♩,♫♬, ♫♩♫,♬♪♩. ♫♪,♬♫♪,♫♩♪♪♫. ♪♩♫♬♫♪, ♪♫♬. 

[ Anyway, he’d play me at bars, coffee shops, small venues, and when we were lucky, the odd concert or rave. This one time, at our biggest concert yet, he drops me and I keep playing, keeping my eyes hidden while I move around. He did air guitar and everyone thought it was a magic trick, but it was probably my favorite moment from anything we did.] 

* [And, almost as if on cue, Yuuken reverts to normal guitar form, before shredding out a sick guitar solo! ]

* [At the boy taking the shamisen out and preparing to use it as a normal instrument.. Yuuken stops entirely, with the bullets and all, though he’s still angry and ready to fight. If he kept using magic bullets and electricity he risked shocking or hitting the other instrument.]

 * [ Even if he used the instrument to generate soundwaves, now, to hurt him, he couldn’t attack back, as much as he wanted to. Not unless he got behind the other or somehow got clear of the instrument he could damage. ]

[ Oh, trust me, you’ll be feelin’ a lot more as soon as you stop hiding behind that instrument like a coward! ] 

* [ Despite his angry, tough face, Yuuken was being more cautious, now, sizing Kaito up. Gotta find some way to get behind him to continue to strike, or end the fight entirely before the other did anything rash with that shamisen. ] 

“Hiding? What the– You and I clearly have different definitions of the word hiding. How’s taking this thing out any different than what I’ve already been doing!?” This just became silly; it wasn’t like he had started running or found a  rock to cower behind. No, Kaito was in the same spot that he had been in from the start, give or take a few feet. 

Something was different now though. The stupid guitar wasn’t throwing attacks at him; not that he was complaining at all about it. Was it because he took the shamisen out? He hadn’t even done anything with it and he didn’t even know if he could use it, what did this thing have to be so worried about?

“Seems to me you’re the one being the coward. Afraid of another string instrument?” A cocky person would have taken the time to toss about the instrument like an idiot trying to show off. Good thing Kaito wasn’t one of those people.
