Ain’t nobody got time to be scared of heights when you’re trying to get to the top
Don’t forget to stop by @whereareyoupress’ online store to get No Competition Between Flowers 🌱
This is legit one of the few things that I’ve written that I’m obsessed with.
Put this shit on my tomb stone.
May Allah bless my parents, they taught my brother how to cook, do his own laundry, clean his room, do his share of house chores. They taught him to respect women, treat them as an equal and never disregard their opinion. All of this and he’s 13 years old ma shaa Allah, they raised him like the rest of us and didn’t treat him special just because he’s the only boy with four sisters in the family. They did not shy away from teaching him what periods are, why it’s okay to see women eat during Ramadan and pregnancy. My mother and father both sat him down to talk about them like they did with my sister and I because believe it or not kids his age already have an idea but no one to discuss with. They got all of us comfortable to ask questions about human sexuality instead of learning false information that we pick up from surrounding. Sometimes when we’re too young to discuss a topic they’ll give a brief summary and discuss it further as we age. I thank them for that because my sister and I grew up very well educated and aware, I’m glad they’re doing the same with my brother no exceptions. Education is key, do not be ashamed, don’t follow cultural norms that develop gender superiority and ignorance.
I feel like I have to reblog this again because it’s Ramadan and grown ass men can’t handle watching a woman on her period eat, going on about how it’ll make their weak ass hungry and that it’s disrespectful while their own mothers and sisters are in the kitchen all day cooking iftar while fasting.
Beautiful advice from Sheikh Ahmad Musa Jibril to those giving charity:
When you give charity, keep in mind that you should be humble. You should feel honoured that you were allowed to give. You should be overwhelmed that Allah gave you and you gave for the sake of Allah, and you should be ecstatic that someone accepted.
What I am saying is you are only really doing yourself a favour.
“And whatever good you [believers] spend is for yourselves…” [2:272]
If the poor beggar does not get it from you. Allah is going to provide for him. Feel honoured that Allah honoured you, by allowing you to give him. What I am saying is give, say thank you to the one you gave and say Alhamdulillah to Allah. You are not doing anybody but yourself a favour.
But the reality is that our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would go up to the Cave of Hira to meditate for a few days with a limited amount of food for himself–to last him his trip, but he would never turn anyone away who came to him hungry. People would hear about this man in a cave and would come to take food from him, and he would never, ever turn them away, until his food was gone.
The reality is that a poor man went to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and asked for some sort of charity. And Prophet Mohammad had neither food or money, but told the man, “I have nothing to give to you right now. Go buy what you need in my name, and I’ll pay the debt.”
Prophet Mohammad continued to be kind and generous, even to people who treated him poorly–when he came home bleeding from his treatment in Taif, after people stoned him in the streets, and Angel Jibreel asked him if he wanted the city to be collapsed by mountains–and our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No. I pray for their children to be blessed with Islam.”
We complain so much about giving and giving and never receiving anything in return, but what did the Prophet ask for in return for everything he gave people? For everything he gave us? Nothing. Our faith teaches us to give and give and not have to expect something in return because everything is accounted, and everything is taken note of.
Don’t ever feel upset or depleted by someone who has not reciprocated your kindness. By someone who ate your restaurant leftovers from the fridge. Or someone who has burdened you emotionally. The fruits of your labor and sacrifice will come to matter most on the Day that you need them to.
the sun always rises.
Why is your husband the man you chose to marry?
Because on our first date he ate in front of me like he’d known me for years. Because he says things before he thinks and always ends up sounding like a cutie. Because he knows how to make me laugh. Because he writes me poems, not any poems, but Arabic poems. Because he has the cutest nicknames for me. Because he always places his palm on my cheek when he wants to tell me something sweet. Because he’s such a nerd. Because he always lays me down when he sees me tired and put up my feet for me. Because the day of our engagement and our wedding he gave me foot massage after walking so much in my heels. Because he always thinks of me first when he does anything. Because he pushes me to do what’s right. Because he annoys me to get up and pray. Because he made a chore schedule for us, not everything on me. Because he mops half the house for me. Because he takes my little obsessions into consideration. Because he uses his sink and strays away from my sink. Because he takes off his socks and/or washes his feet before sitting on the bed because of my paranoia of dust getting on our bed. Because he reads the books I read so he knows how to talk to me about them. Because he cooks and cleans for me when I’m tired. Because he lays in bed with me when I’m ill. Because he makes sure nothing from the coffee cabinet is missing. Because he surprises me with unexpected vacations. Because he’s constantly bringing me flowers. Because he shows support of anything I want to do even if he doesn’t fully agree with it. Because he send me to see my family even when I’m not fully on board. Because he has better taste than me when it comes to buying me clothes. Because he never allows me to forget how much he loves me. Because because because…wallahi I could keep on going but I think you get why now.
Ya Rabb bless me with a husband like this inshallah
