Note: One of my favorite AU fics set in the Enchanted Forest, this one handled the connection between Emma and Regina beautifully. I love the portrayal of Ruby and her relationship with Emma.  Fantastically written.

"The Fairest of Them All" sounded more like a terrible beauty competition than a mental, physical, and social, emotional reality competition show."

Note: This fic doesn't exist in ff.net anymore. Luckily, I saved the fic before the writer took it down. However, if sharing this fic through download links is a breach of writer's rights or something, I will willingly take it down. 

While this fic exists on the same premise that there is a curse, how the writer handled it is quite refreshing. Controversies, hook-ups, betrayals are abound, much like every reality shows out there.

Summary: From "The Last Resort" / "Desperate Measures" Universe: a magic!baby fic telling the story of Regina's pregnancy with Charlotte. (75, 944 words)

 Note: A very interesting and entertaining fic, The Last Resort has two original characters who everyone has grown to love. Plot has enough suspense to make reader finish it in one-seating. Plus I just loved Regina and Emma's parenting style here.

"It was just such a moment of conflicting feelings I think. Because I think that's the first time I realized that love wasn't just playing in parks, early morning breakfasts, and dinners together.

Love meant that you were giving a piece of yourself to someone. It meant that a piece of you was being sustained in someone else. If you trusted that person, it wasn't hard to hand over that piece of you, but I realized then, it meant taking on more risks. It meant being vulnerable.

It meant that in one swift moment that piece of you could be crushed. Pulverized. Obliterated. And I think that's the part that scares people. That's the part that makes people run from love."

Note: I now regret that I passed this fic several times because of my own prejudice to fics in first person perspective, because when I started it and got the ball moving, I couldn't stop. And I loved it. In this fic, using that perspective works. Believe me when I say it's worth it. And besides, the whole fic is not written in the first person. It's hilarious, fluffy, and yes, very very angsty. Prepare your tissues, wine, pillow and your heart.

Along the way Emma forms alliances with the enigmatic Miss Maine (Regina Mills), the warm and sensible Miss New York (Tamara) and the ever-so-slightly-drippy Miss Rhode Island (Mary Margaret Blanchard).

With Killian Jones running the op, backed up by her ex Neal, Emma knows the success rests on her being able to pass herself off as a beauty queen. (37,679 words)

“Yeah, what’s my new name?” Emma asked, picking up a breadstick and crunching it in loud, messy defiance. “I’d better start getting used to it.”

“Emmylou Freebush,” Jones announced. “Miss Massachusetts herself.”"

Note: Another product of SQ Big Bang, Miss United States is one of my favorite AU's. With enough dose of humor and suspense and throw in some sexy times too, this fic is very lovable. Even though it is based on the movie Miss Congeniality, it somehow produces unexpected turn of events.
