In 1983 in Anderson, South Carolina, three men plead guilty to the incredibly violent rape of a woman. The judge decided to give the men a choice: either they would do the maximum prison time, or they would each be surgically castrated. If they chose the castration they would serve no prison time.

I think they should have been both castrated and sent to prison. If they had been castrated and set free, they would still be very capable of hurting women. They would still be able to rape and kill women. In fact, they may become even more violent due to their frustrations. But if they were sent to prison and eventually released, they easily could have done it again later.

The men chose the castration, but the government wouldn't allow it. They were sent to jail and let out way too early. One of them raped another woman.

Rapists should be put to death, ideally.
