Utage is a wonderful main character straight out of a self-insert fic because she's self-aware.

She's completely devoted to Tamon as a fan and as someone truly close to him, but she's also aware that she has to separate these two worlds. She knows that her love for Tamon as an idol is different from romantic love. It's a very mature approach.

This also sets her apart from other protagonists in similar stories.

She's not the typical "other" girl who doesn't even know such a band exists. She's not a hater, either. She's not a psycho fan who lives in delusion. She's an intense fan, yes, but she knows the boundaries she tries not to cross.

She's the perfect protagonist for this story.
