i'm thinking about netflix's queen charlotte and how it's really resonating with me as i struggle to navigate a tumultuous-at-times, loving-at-times relationship with a partner who greatly suffers from a diagnosed mental health condition. it does a great job of articulating the frustration of loving someone but trying to protect them from you as your state declines. and the confusion and heartbreak that comes with it all.

"This ain't the UN, people." Trying to channel my inner peace using the advice of the sage Tamara Levitt... I remember when she shared a story about the time she used to work in a bustling restaurant and she had a manager who would share this message with the employees to keep things in perspective. I love it. It helps me, now, since the work I'm doing for my salary does not equate to a matter of life or death. I don't know how much it would have helped me when I was a journalist working as a local news reporter because, actually, the decisions I made very much came with real-life consequences... As the editor of the newspaper myself, any errors I ran would be my fault so the stakes were high (good thing I didn't run errors 😉). Even when my copy editor added a mistake to my copy, ironically, my name is in the byline. So I deal with the consequences. Speaking from experience AAAND that's partially why I don't work as a journalist anymore.

thinking about the time i accidentally entered English 101 in college even after taking AP Lit in high school and heard the professor tell me that i don't belong in the class because i'm too advanced lol then he used my essay intro as an example for the class. also thinking about the time my high school English teacher used my essay as an example for the class with my name hidden 🤓
