âAnother one? Weâve already seen like 5 episodes in a row!âÂ
âBut I wanna see what happens next! Whoâs the culprit? Who stole all the jewelry? I want answers, you know.â You groaned at Jonginâs response.
Once a week, Jongin and you would meet in one of your apartments and watch a movie or catch up on a soap while eating some popcorn. It had become a tradition and youâve done it for the past 2 years. Normally you wouldnât complain about doing an episode marathon but today you were very exhausted because of a busy and tiring day at work. unfortunately for you, Jongin had a very boring day at work so he wanted to have a lot of fun and make the best out of the evening with you.
You hesitated for a second before turning your head towards him: âIf we watch one more, can I go home after that?â You put your best fake smile on in hopes of persuading him.
âOf course not! Itâs only 11 pm, we still have so much time left!â He gave you a cheerful smile before grabbing the control and clicking the next episode. You groaned again and fell back into the couch. This was going to be a long nightâŚ
âHey Y/nâŚ. Y/nâŚâ Your eyes fluttered open and met Jonginâs brown ones. âY/nâ, he whispered again. âAre you awake?âÂ
ââŚYeah, Iâm awake⌠What time is it?â You rubbed your eyes and tried to get used to the light of the tv screen.Â
â12:30?? Holy shit, Is it already that late? I have to go home!â You got off the couch and stepped towards the hallway to grab your jacket but stopped at the door.
âThe bus doesnât drive around at this hour, right?âÂ
âIâm afraid it doesnât.âÂ
âFuck.â You closed your eyes and tried to think of a way to get home at this hour, but your thoughts were interrupted by Jongin clearing his throat.âIf you want, you can sleep here. I donât have an extra bed but since weâre friends, I donât think sharing a bed will be a problem right?â You turned around to face jongin and looked at him with a slightly confused expression. You pointed at the couch and wanted to ask why the couch wasnât an option but he started speaking before you. âThe air conditioning doesnât work at night. Around 1 pm, it turns off and the living room cools down pretty fast, so I donât think you wanna sleep there.âÂ
âOh okay. Well⌠If itâs really no problem then-âÂ
âNo donât worry. I donât want you to walk home at night. You never know what might happen.â
You gave him him a small smile and yawned.Â
âYouâre really tired, huh?â he smiled. âLetâs go upstairs.â He walked towards the stairs and you followed him. He gave you one of his shirts to sleep in and you both got ready to go to bed.Â
Even though you two had layed together in his bed before in the past, it was the first time you would spend the night together. You walked in and saw him sitting on the bed. You stopped in the doorway to admire him. He sat on the edge of the bed, his back facing you. His white shirt complimented his body and his messed up hair looked cute.
âHow can he be this well looking at this time of the night? I probably look like a potato or somethingâ you thought. You quickly started walking towards the bed and hoped he didnât notice you were staring at him. You both got in bed and laid there with your back facing each other. Jongin fell asleep quite quickly, contrary to you, who was laying there trying not to think about the fact that you two were sharing a bed. Normally, you wouldnât care. heâs your best friend after all. You two had done way crazier things before than laying together in a bed, and yet you were nervous about it.
For the past 2,5 years, you two had become best friends. You two shared everything with each other, from crushes to weird family stories. You had laughed and cried together, basically you were friends for life. At least, thatâs what you thought. Recently you noticed things about him that you had never noticed before. Since when was his laugh so adorable? Since when were his hugs so warm? At first, you didnât want to admit it, that you had developed feelings for him. You were scared that your friendship would end thanks to your feelings, so you never talked about it and hid the feelings, as if they werenât there. Unfortunately for you, as time passed, your feelings only grew stronger. Every time you saw him, you noticed something new about him that made your heart flutter. And until now, you had succeeded in hiding your feelings but today, it was difficult. You wanted nothing more than cuddling close up to him and hearing him whisper sweet nothings in your ear, but the thought of getting rejected or worse, ruining your friendship was terrifying enough to keep your feelings hidden. You didnât want to lose him.Â
You turned around carefully and sat up straight so you could see the side of his face. He laid next to him with a small pout on your lips.
âWhat should I do, Jongin? How would you react?â you whispered. You suddenly thought back at one particular afternoon, last summer. At that time, You had a crush on the boy that lived in your street but you were too scared to talk to him. You had asked Jongin advice about what you should say, or if it even was a good idea to talk to the boy. His answer had been clear:Â
âOf course you should talk to him! Iâm sure heâll love to go on a date with you.â
âBut what if he says no? I donât know if Iâll be able to handle that.â
âWhatâs the worst thing that can happen?â Jongin saw your hesitating expression and continued. âWhat do you like better: Asking him out and maybe going on the best date ever? Or not asking at all and wondering what the answer would have been. heâs not going to eat you, Y/n. Just go for it!â
You started smiling again, thinking about that memory. He was right though. you had asked the boy out and you went on a date. Unfortunately, the boy didnât like you as much as you liked him and you didnât go on any other dates. And even though you were sad about it then, you were happy that it didnât work out, because otherwise you would never have fallen in love with Jongin.Â
And at that moment you made your decision: you would confess the next morning. Maybe it would ruin your friendship, but for all you knew, he might feel the same towards you and it would be the best decision you had ever made. And the thought of having him next to your side for the rest of your life made you incredibly happy.
