Thatās the musical show, right? I think, uh, I think I saw an episode or two. Donāt know the ep youāre referencing, but Iāll agree with you anyways. [He laughed] Alright, alright, I can definitely agree with you there. Hawkeye is also a true pillar in representing the disabled community, which is golden in this day and age, so he gets mad points for that. I think⦠we both convinced each other.
I have to write down the notes and basically let muscle memory do the trick, but⦠Iām not really that dedicated to band, so itās alright. Itās more an extra-curricular to help me get into college. Oh, no. I did the prom thing last year and it wasnāt great. I mean, maybe youāre right, but Iāve never been particularly fond of watching drama. Itās not- I dunno, I- I dunno. Are, uh, are you going? Iām guessing you are. Oh, no no no, I definitely get it. I take after my dad that way. I just uh, do what Iām supposed to, I guess? Whichā yeah, thatās pretty much it. Iāll probably go to college here and follow in my dads footsteps.
Yeah, itās kind of dumb, but I think itās funny. Thatās good. I think that people should always agree with me, when in doubt. Iām usually right about things. See, weāre good at this. Have you ever considered joining the debate team? We could use someone of your persuasive abilities there.
I donāt think anyoneās all that invested in band, honestly. The most interesting reason Iāve ever heard for someone joining was āI wanted to be able to make a lot of noise to drive my stepdad crazy, but my mom wouldnāt let me join a death metal band.ā Oh yeah, college. Do you know where you want to go yet? Iām sure youāve already sent out all your applications and everything, probably even last year. I sent out a few this term. It seems like they keep pushing this stuff out even earlier and earlier each year. Itās like Christmas, always pushing the line, moving the front forward. Well, yeah, okay, that makes sense. I donāt really like it much, either, but my best friend Robbie--Robbie Wilson? You know him, probably--he can be kind of a trouble-maker sometimes. Itās often unavoidable. Um, yeah, Iām going. I wasnāt really given a choice, so Iāll be there, eight sharp, fancy, scratchy dress on. [She bit her lip, face a little sad and a little sorry] Look, I donāt want to bring down the mood or anything, but what do you want? Itās your life, and I think itās more important that you do what you want to do than what someone else wants you to. I...You probably havenāt heard stories about my dad or anything, but he wasnāt a great guy, and he did some really bad stuff. If I just followed in his footsteps Iād end up making the same bad choices without thinking about what I want for myself. Itās obviously not the same thing, but I still think you have to follow your heart, or you risk doing something wrong--whether wrong for you or wrong morally.
