EEKKKK. i was so sad i couldn’t find your accountttt. thank you for that ask it was sooo good! please feel free to continue to send more asks like thattt. im trying to bring more awareness to the soul eater communityy!
soul was convinced this was the greatest idea he’d had all week. “c’mon, just try it once.” you crossed your arms. “soul… i’m a meister, yeah, but i don’t know how to use a scythe. you already have a meister.” “maka’s busy.” “she said she was reading.” “exactly. busy.” “…” he flashed that lazy grin that always meant he was about to make your day significantly more complicated. “you’ll be fine. just pick me up and swing.” “i feel like you’re oversimplifying this.” “nah.” with a dramatic flourish, soul transformed into his scythe form.
“…seriously?” no response. “…you’re actually making me do this.” you sighed, grabbed the handle, and immediately realized he was way heavier than he looked. “how does maka carry you so easily?”
soul’s voice echoed from his weapon form. “she’s got practice. c’mon, loosen up.” you awkwardly adjusted your grip before taking one experimental swing. “…see? not bad.” “i almost dropped— “again.” he cut you off. against every instinct screaming don’t, you swung harder. for exactly half a second, it looked like it was actually working. then your footing slipped. “oh, no—” “WAIT, DON’T LET GO—” too late.
soul flew out of your hands like a launched javelin, embedded himself in three training dummies, ricocheted off a wall, and transformed back mid-fall with an undignified thud. silence. you rushed over, horrified. “soul! are you okay?” he stared at the ceiling for a second before letting out a laugh. “…that was kinda cool.” “you quite literally got thrown across the room.” “i got a lotttt of airtime.” “i almost killed my boyfriend.” “nah.” he sat up, rubbing the back of his head with a grin. “you just need practice.” you blinked. “you want to do that again?” you asked, skeptical. he stood, dusting himself off. “absolutely.” you groaned, hiding your face in your hands. “one of these days,” you muttered, “i’m going to start saying no to your ideas.” soul slung an arm around your shoulders, laughing. “but today’s not that day.” “…unfortunately for me, it isn’t.”
he laughed even harder, already transforming again before you could protest, completely confident that eventually the two of you would get it right—even if the DWMA training room didn’t survive the process.

the mission had been easy. overtly easy.
black star had spent the last fifteen minutes bragging about how quickly he’d taken down the kishin egg while the two of you walked back toward death city. “i told you! they never stand a chance against the great black star—” his voice trailed off. you had stopped walking. “…hey?” your face had gone strangely pale. “i’m… fine,” you mumbled, taking another step. the world tilted. before you could catch yourself, your knees gave out. “whoa—!”
black star lunged forward, catching you before you hit the ground. “hey! hey, open your eyes!” he lightly tapped your face your eyelids fluttered, but you barely responded. his heart lurched. “what happened? are you hurt?” you weakly shook your head.“i… forgot…” “forgot what?” “to eat.” he stared. “you passed out because you forgot to eat?” “and… drink.” he blinked in disbelief before letting out the deepest sigh you’d ever heard from him. “you are unbelievable.” despite the teasing, his hands were incredibly gentle as he adjusted your weight against him. “can you walk?” “a little…” “nope.” before you could protest, he scooped you onto his back. “put me down—” you yelped “you’re not arguing.” “but—” “you literally fainted.” “fair.” he huffed, making sure you were secure before starting toward the nearest café.
“you spend all this time worrying about everyone else,” he muttered. “someone’s gotta make sure you don’t accidentally starve.” you smiled weakly against his shoulder. “thanks.” he clicked his tongue. “next time, if you skip breakfast, i’m dragging you to eat before we leave.” “you’d remember?” “i’ll remember.” he glanced back with a crooked grin. “and if i have to, i’ll make enough noise every morning to remind you.” you laughed quietly. “maybe just knock on my window instead.” “for you?” he smiled. “deal.”
— ♡ black star with a s/o that suffers from hearing difficulties
— ♡ starring :: b.star
— ♡ cw :: none
black star was a naturally loud person . not just talking loud, existing loud.
he somehow slammed doors open instead of turning the knob. he announced his arrival before he was even in the room. he laughed with his whole chest, shouted every single thought that crossed his mind, and somehow managed to make walking sound like a competition. you’d always found it endearing.
until your hearing started getting worse.
the first time he noticed something was wrong, he had sprinted across death city after spotting you.
“THERE YOU A—” you flinched so violently your hands flew to your ears before he could even finish.
he voice died instantly. “hey?” you kept your palms pressed over your ears, waiting for the ringing to settle. black star frowned. “did… did I do that?”
you looked embarrassed more than anything.
“no you didn’t. its okay.” “no, it’s not.” you sighed, lowering your hands. “i just have hearing damage.”
“…hearing damage?” “my ears are really sensitive now. loud noises don’t only startle me, they hurt.”
“they hurt?” he repeated quietly. “they make everything ring. sometimes it gives me migraines.”
for once, black star was at a loss for words. he nothing to say.
the next day, he remembered. for about twenty minutes. he’d barged into the classroom, ready to tell everyone about his latest mission. “I TOTALLY DESTROYE—” he caught sight of you. your shoulders had already tensed. his eyes widened. “…oops.” the rest of his sentence came out in an awkward whisper. “i… totally destroyed him.” soul snorted. “you look constipated.” “i’m trying to be QUIET.”
“how does one whisper yell?”
it wasn’t easy.
every time he got excited, his voice naturally climbed louder and louder. you’d gently tap his wrist. he’d immediately stop. “sorry.” sometimes he’d catch himself halfway through a sentence, slap a hand over his mouth, and lower his voice with an embarrassed grin. youd never got mad. you’d just smile and say, “thanks.” that somehow made him feel even guiltier.
a few weeks later, everyone started noticing the difference.
“have you seen black star?” maka asked. soul shrugged. “he’s… weird.” “weird?” “watch.”
across the room, black star walked over to where you were reading. instead of shouting your name like he normally would, he lightly knocked on the edge of the table. you looked up. “there you are,” he said softly. not whispered. just… normal. you smiled softly at him. “hi.” soul blinked. “who are you, and what have you done with black star?” “i evolved,” black star shot back.
one afternoon, the two of you were walking home when a motorcycle suddenly roared past. the sound echoed through the street. you instinctively squeezed your eyes shut, hands flying over your ears. black star was beside you immediately.
without thinking, he stepped between you and the road, gently placing his hands over yours to further block out some of the noise until it faded. “you okay?” his voice was barely above a murmur. you nodded after a moment. “yeah.” he frowned. “i hate that.” “i know right.” “no.” he looked down at the sidewalk. “i hate that i probably made it worse before i knew.” “you didn’t know.” “i still don’t like it.”
you reached over and intertwined your fingers with his. “you learned.” he looked at your joined hands before smiling. “i’ll keep learning.” old habits still slipped out every now and then. he’d get fired up during training and accidentally shout. the second he noticed you rubbing your ear, he’d wince harder than you did. “my bad.” “it’s okay.” “no. do-over.”
he’d lean in closer, lowering his voice until only you could hear. “i said… i won.” you laughed. “much better.” he grinned proudly. “i think i’m getting good at this.” “you are.”
coming from anyone else, speaking quietly would’ve seemed ordinary. coming from black star, it was one of the loudest ways he could say, i love you. because changing something so natural to him just to make your world a little more comfortable was never something he saw as a burden. It was simply another way to protect the person he cared about most.
— ੭ black star with a obsessed girlfriend who wants to match with him

black starr notices it one morning before training. “…hold on.” you blink in confusion. “what?”
he grabs your wrist, ogling the stack of bracelets sliding down your arm. blue. black. silver.
little beads spelling “BLACK STAR” over and over in different colors. “…you got more?” “oh.” you smile like it’s obvious. “those? yeah.” you lift your other wrist. “these are the glow-in-the-dark ones.” silence. soul snorts from across the room. “no way.”
it starts becoming a running joke around the dwma. not because you’re embarrassing. because you seem genuinely proud of it. your necklace? a tiny silver pendant engraved with B.S. never comes off. no one has EVER seen it off. maka notices after weeks. “…do you sleep with that on?”
black star looks like he’s trying not to grin so hard his face splits.
then there’s your nails. blue. black. blue. black.
alternating perfectly. tsubaki raises an eyebrow.
“uh they’re cute.” your face brightens. “i’m matching with black star.” “…of course you are..” then one day.. you walk into class with a blue streak of hair, perfectly framing your face. black star freezes.
“…” “…” “you dyed your hair.” “mhm!” “…blue.”
“yepp!” “for me?” “well uh…” you shrug. “i thought it’d be cute.” he’s frozen in shock and adoration.
he stops moving completely. soul actually checks if he’s breathing. “it’s permanent?” black star finally asks. “yep.” “and you actually wanted to?”“obviously.” “…” he immediately turns around toward everyone else. “HEY!!” the hallway goes quiet. “my girlfriend’s so cool she literally changed her hair to match me because i’m awesome!” “black star!” you exclaim. “what? THEY NEED KNOW!” “they already know!”
they do.
because somehow this isn’t even the weirdest thing.
liz once catches you reorganizing your bag.
everything inside is blue and black. notebook. pens.
phone case. wallet. hair ties. water bottle. even your headphones. “you own another color?” “white.”
“do you use it?” “no.” patty gasps dramatically.
“she’s infected.”
even your lock screen is a picture of black star hooting and hollering dramatically at the sky.
he nearly cries when he sees it. “YOU HAVE ME AS YOUR WALLPAPER?!” “yeah?” “LET’S GOOOOOO!”
he changes his to a picture of the two of you less than five minutes later. the bracelets become an ongoing thing. every time you see one you like
you make another. leather. beaded. woven. braided.
metal. different fonts. different charms. it doesn’t matter. some say black star some say star. some just have little stars and blue beads. by the end of the semester… you’re wearing at least twelve.
“doesn’t that get heavy?” maka asks. “nah.”
you absentmindedly twist one around your wrist.
“i like hearing them jingle.” blackstar is over joyed.
even your phone contact for him is ridiculous.
⭐ MY STAR ⭐
the ringtone you have for him?? some recording of him yelling “I’M THE MAN WHO’LL SURPASS GOD!” soul nearly throws your phone out a window the first time it goes off during lunch. death the kid notices everything at once. “…” “the bracelets.” “yes.” “the necklace.” “…yes.” “the nails.” “…yes.” “the blue streak.” “yes.” “the matching shoes?” “yes.” “…” kid slowly looks over at blackstar “she appears to be your number one supporter.” blackstar throws an arm around your shoulders with the biggest grin imaginable. “THAT’S RIGHT!” you smile. “and improud of it .” one afternoon, ox asks the question everyone has been thinking. “why do you match him so much?” you don’t even hesitate. “i like loving people really loudly.” the room goes quiet. you shrug. “if i’m dating someone, i want them to know i’m very proud to be with them.” “so i choose wear things that remind me of him.” across the room, black star goes unusually quiet. for once, he isn’t shouting. (finally) he just walks over, takes your hand, and intertwines your fingers with his. “cool.” he smiles crookedly soul smirks. “you know she’s got you speechless when that’s all you’ve got.” black star scoffs, though the tips of his ears are unmistakably red. “tch. i just don’t need words.” he lifts your intertwined hands high enough for everyone to see. “they can already tell she’s mine.” you roll your eyes fondly. “and he’s absolutely impossible to miss.”
“damn right!” he laughs, squeezing your hand. “anyone who sees us knows we’re together, and honestly? thats exactly how i like it.”
