Pomni is one of the last remaining Unicorns and to make sure she doesn’t meet the same fate as the others- transformed to blend into society. Pomni became a traveling jester so she can still have her freedom while still bringing joy to others. Pomni just doesn’t want to feel lonely.
There are legends and stories the people believe that the unicorns died out, went into the sea or have changed their form to live amongst the people. Scholars and Magicians continue their hunt for unicorns for power, research, status , fame and money.
Pomni is unfortunately discovered by a traveling magician while performing in one of the town squares. He follows her to her hide out and and captures her and reverts her to her original form. He plans to take her to be sold to the highest bidding royal or scholar. He does intent to take a few things from her for his own research.
When Pomni awakens in a cage and she realizes she’s in her unicorn form and panics- she realizes her magic had been drained (by the magician) and cannot do anything until she replenishes.
Later that night, a rouge named Jax sneaks their way into the magicians traveling campsite and takes a few goods until he stumbles upon the unicorn in a cage. Shocked he admires them pities the creature in the cage- in awe to see such a rare beauty but upset to see someone so wicked would keep a unicorn in a cage.
Pomni then speaks and begs the rouge to free her, Jax is shocked that she can speak and agrees to free her (with a catch lol)
They escape the camp together and Pomni insist that she travel along side him. Jax at first is reluctant because she could be a burden - plus traveling with a very obvious unicorn wouldn’t be ideal.
Pomni then reverts back to her other form and Jax is once again shocked. Pomni then share her back story and ask Jax if she could just travel along side him in this form for the time being - until she settled to a new place. Jax agreed and in honestly is happy for the company. The two then travel onto the next town where they encounter ragatha. A runaway duchess.
