You could always count on something to go on.
It was your 20th birthday, and your friends had managed to snatch a spot at a very popular club down in L.A. Gabby, the wildest of the bunch was friends with the club owner.
So, still underage you had somehow managed to get indoors without any notice nor care from the bouncer.Â
It was nice to have connections.
You had never been to a club before.
Sneaking shots behind the movie theatre? Sure. Rolling a few joints after school in the field? No problem.
But, this was different.Â
Everyone here was wild, vibrant, and unafraid of anything.
Colours danced across the room, and glasses full of gaudy cocktails, sloshed around to the beat of the music.Â
Stella and Gabby were pulling you farther into the crowd, gesturing to the bar, on the other side of the club.
Once you had made it, you tugged your miniskirt back down, as it had ridden up amongst all the swaying bodies.
âWhatâll it be ladies?â
âBloody Mary for me.â Stella replied briskly.
They turned to you, and your heart beat quickened.
âEr...Sangria, please.â you mumbled incoherently.
Thankfully, he understood your gibberish, and went on working on the drinks.
They looked somewhat relived that you had managed to not look like you had no idea what to do. I mean, youâd had moonshine and all the potent liquors straight from the bottle, but never anything fancy, or âproperâ as your friends would put it.Â
âHappy Birthday (y/n)!â Gabby grinned, raising her glass.
You all clinked them together.
âCheers to a full and exciting life.â
âThanks guys, Iâm really glad I could come out tonight.â
âItâs a miracle we convinced your mother!â Stella laughed.
âYou mean lied to.â You rolled your eyes. âIf I had known, you two troublemakers would have taken me here, I wouldnât have come!â
âSure you would have.â Gabby winked.Â
âAlright, maybe I would have.â You admitted, chuckling.Â
âSay, donât he look familiar?â Stella nudged both of you.
You turned to see what exactly she was talking about.
When you found it, you internally groaned.Â
Seeming to sense your discomfort, Stella quickly changed the subject.
âCâmon donât worry about it. Have another drink.â she pushed another glass towards me.
You nodded slowly, but you didnât stop looking in his direction.
Patrick Baker was a friend of yours in high school.
A few months after you had graduated, he asked you out.
You liked him a lot and so you two started dating.Â
It wasnât until the sixth date, you realised he was dating several other women at the same time.
And for some reason, you didnât break up with him.
You finally confronted him about it, months later, when he disappeared for an entire weekend for a âbusiness trip.â Â
He tried to apologise, but you were beyond angry.Â
And so, ten months ago, you broke it off with him.
The scars you thought were gone, came back with a vengeance.Â
It was hard to concentrate on anything.Â
âForget I even mentioned him.â Stella pleaded.
âItâs fine. Itâs almost been a year, Iâve gotten over it.â you tried to force a smile, that was clearly plastic.
Who were you kidding? You suddenly felt in no mood to party.
Gabby coaxed you to stay with more drinks, and the more you had, the more relaxed you felt.
âCâmon letâs go dance!â
Your friends pulled you, who was reluctant, off the seat.
You were between what seemed hundreds of sweating, bodies, and you could feel the energy and warmth pulsating off them.
They almost seemed so entranced with the music, they couldn't get tired. You wished you could feel that way. You were starting to feel worn out.Â
âFancy seeing you here.â
Someone had tapped you on the shoulder.
You looked into their eyes, and were met with familiar icy blue orbs.
âPatrick.â you barely whispered.
He grinned widely, his eyebrows raised slightly.
â(y/n), looking as good as ever.â
Your heart quickened slightly.
Trying to put on a stern face, your lips dipped downwards, into a frown.
âWhat are you doing here?âÂ
âJust happened to want a drink.â he shrugged.
âItâs your birthday, isn't it?â
But your ride home was lost somewhere in the crowd.
âWell, thereâs no point in that.â you chuckled bitterly.
âOh, câmon, you know I still care about you.â
âYeah, sleeping with other women really gave me that impression.â
Before he could say another word, you pushed him as much as your drunken-self could muster.
âGo screw yourself Patrick.â
âYeah, go screw yourself!â a voice called out of nowhere.
You turned around, and eyebrow raised.
And who should it be, but John Lennon, the Beatle himself, with Paul McCartney, and George Harrison.
Your jaw almost dropped in shock.
They all beckoned you closer.Â
They were all laughing, smiling, and bouncing around. You had never seen so much energy before.
âYes, câmere doll. Join us!â
You werenât exactly sure why on earth a Beatle was talking to you, but you werenât about to complain.
You walked in their direction.
âEr...thanks for that.â
John shrugged, seeming not to see a big deal about it.
âGuy were lookinâ fer a shag. Youâre far too pretty fer âim.â
You raised your eyebrows in surprise.
âAnd your not?â you sassed back, immediately panicking after.
You just insulted John Lennon for Godâs sake! That must have been a strong drink.
âNever said I werenât.â he smirked, wiggling his eyebrows.
You rolled your eyes at this.
You were glad for the company since your friends had abandoned you, in search of some attractive men to go after. You chuckled lightly at the thought of Stella and Gabby seeing Paul McCartney here.Â
But, you somehow felt out of place, and not just because you werenât a famous musician. They seemed to be somewhere else, almost in another plane of existence, where they were extraordinarily contented.
It was then you realised what it was.
You had seen a similar face when Gabby had her first hit of acid.
Now you yourself steered away from it, you didnât have an inclination to hallucinate. When Gabby had offered you some that time, you shook your head.
âIâd like to keep from talking to plants, thanks very much.â
âYouâre no fun.â and with that she dropped a sugar cube into her coffee, and quickly consumed it.
There wasnât many times you could recall being so willing to try anything you were offered, but tonight seemed to be one of those unusual nights.
To be fair, if you were going to try it, might as well do it with the Beatles.
âEver gotten high before?â John asked, a lopsided grin on his face.
âSure, a few times. Mostly herbal smokes though.âÂ
âWant ta try somethinâ more...exotic?â he continued to have a large grin plastered on his face.
But then you turned, and saw the Patrick with his smirk and those cold eyes you had loved not so long ago. And quickly, his eyes met yours. There was almost a jealousy in them. So of course, being drunk enough to make most likely stupid decisions, you turned back to John, eyes full of mischief.
âFuck it. Why the Hell not?â
They summoned someone out of the depths, who passed you a cup of coffee.
You didnât feel anything at first.
You just danced with the boys, for what seemed like hours.Â
You had no idea where you party went, and you didnât really care at this point. You were having loads of fun with these handsome scousers, who seemed to also enjoy having you around.
You were climbing up the winding staircase when you started to feel something. Your body tingled, and you felt elevated somehow, the stairs seeming easier to climb with each step.
Colours were more vibrant.
Your gaze wandered to the almost neon cocktails, and pulled another blue one from the platter.
You could taste the blue.
âThis is fucking wild, I can taste the colours!â you exclaimed.
âWell you know what they say,â John commented, âYou donât truly know a colour until youâve tasted it.â
Maybe it was the several strong drinks youâd been consuming, or the incredibly hallucinogenic drug youâd taken, but you suddenly felt the urge to kiss him.
With no inhibitions left, you pulled the collar of his shirt towards you and kissed him.
His mouth melded with yours, and he pulled your waist closer to his body, clearly wanting this as much as you did.
He deepened the kiss, his tongue probing the entrance, and once allowed access, danced with your own. Your teeth bit down harshly on his lower lip and he groaned.
âGod, woman. Yer gunna be the end of me.â
You continued your heated make out session, much to the annoyance of a certain blue eyed boy, you had forgotten even existed at this point.
âWhatâs got you with the long face, dude?â
âItâs nothing. Donât worry about it.â
Still, he looked at you longingly, wishing he could be the one who had you so enthralled.Â
You were oblivious of everything except John; you felt more connected with him that you had felt with any other creature on the planet.
Once you had finally pulled away, you both were breathing heavily, but smiling sure enough.
âItâs my birthday today.â
You didnât know why you felt the need to tell him, but you just did.
âWell (y/n), has it been a good birthday?â
You grinned from ear to ear.
He grabbed your hand tightly.
âCâmon. Let me make it...more memorable.â he winked suggestively at you.
You nodded shyly, and let him lead you down someplace.
Letâs just say you had the best birthday you could ever wish for.
Ok, this ended kinda eh, but I tried ok?! Iâm still a bit rusty and Iâm trying guys! Anyways, hope you enjoyed this shit.Â
