Working-out Masterlist
One of the biggest by-products of the pandemic would be the boom in home fitness. Personally, I find home-videos better than going to the gym; they are convenient, free and there is no commitment to a 30 min video. Now, I do consider myself as some sort of a YouTube fitness connoisseur. I cannot think of someone I haven’t tried!? You have seen it; I have done it.
I have listed different youtubers and rated their ‘BURN!’ factor and style (HIIT, Pilates, Dance). Whilst I have tried to be as objective as possible, what I will find easy and hard will be different to what you might find easy or difficult.
HITT/Set style workout
Emi Wong (HIIT)
Burn level: 🔥 🔥 (🔥) /10
Emi Wong is up next. The queen of ‘slim down your thighs’- I have known her all my teen years and she is another basic favourite. I would say her workouts are a little more diverse and slightly harder than Chole’s, with her BURN! being more intense than but she would be still considered basic.
Pros:
· My go-to for easy sweaty workouts.
· Her leg workouts are pretty much rite of passage. They are good and simple.
· She is so encouraging throughout, and she magically seems to know when you need it.
· Emi’s workouts really do work, with me and herself being a testament to how good she is.
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to beginner.
Note: I do feel like her workouts are becoming slightly more harder so if you are a complete beginner go for her old ones.
Madfit (HITT and dance)
Burn level: 🔥 🔥🔥/10
I feel like some people would already know her for her dance workouts. I was quite unsure about whether if I would consider her easy or medium because her dance workouts are easy, but her HIIT workouts are harder.
Pros-
· Her song choices for her dance videos are really. She also has a lot of K-pop covers which as well are fun and easy.
· HIIT workouts are harder in terms of the exercises but I do not find her challenging.
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to beginner.
Lucy Wyndham-Read (Workout sets)
Burn level: 🔥 /10
Pros:
· Her workouts are short, less than 10 minutes usually. So, I would do them twice through or do it once in the morning and once at night.
· She is just the cutest.
· The workouts are all pretty much low-impact, great for people who live in flats or who have weak knees.
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to beginners.
April Hans (Workout sets)
I simply love her. She is just so nice and calming. She talks your through her workouts, usually explaining biology behind the exercises which I appreciate. She is Chinese so her videos are in Mandarin, but she does have English subtitles. I would also like to add because she is an Asian her workouts are targeted to an Asian audience. I have read far too many mean comments calling her all sort of things simply because she does not want a big bum. If you want slimming and toning, April Hans is for you.
Pros:
· Workouts that deliver results!!
· Her accent in Mandarin is nice and I always try to copy her. If you are learning Mandarin, her videos are a good introduction to advanced vocabulary.
· She does the workouts herself and at the beginning of the video she shows her progress with the workout.
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to people who want to slim down. Easy Medium.
Lily Sabri
Burn level: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 /10
My British queen. Lily’s workouts are hard.
Pros:
· Her workouts are dynamic and difficult. There are no jumping jacks here.
· Her energy is contagious, which is the only reason I make it to end.
· No repetition! This is a big one for me. I refuse to do workouts where I have to do repeats or sets. For me, sets are dull and boring.
· Nice mix of different circuit inspired workout.
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to medium.
Challenge
Caroline Girvan (Challenge)
Burn level: 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 (🔥)/10
Caroline’s ‘Epic’ challenge programme is widely regarded as one of the hardest/toughest programmes to get through. I started this a while back, but I left it hanging for a while because I got sick. I will be re-starting this challenge this month!!
Pros:
· YOU SEE RESULTS!
• She does have a beginner version of Epic! No excuses here!
Cons:
· ‘Epic’ does require you to have a range of equipment (weights) at home.
1. 2. 3.( beginner)
Recommend it to advanced.
(EDIT: I will be back with how I got along.)
Chole Ting (HIIT)
Burn level: 🔥 🔥 🔥/10
If you were to come to me as a beginner to working out, I would point you to Chole Ting. I know you know her but that is because she is good. Chole’s workouts are easy to follow and direct, but this does not mean you do not get a good BURN! She does have some workouts that are a little more difficult, but they are not anything hard and if you are doing them with one of her challenges, you will fine.
Pros:
· She covers a good range of basic exercises in her workouts.
· she includes a warm-up and a cool down. A lot of people do not realise how important a good warm-up and a cool down is, so doing her workouts help build the habit of incorporating it into your routine.
· Queen of challenges! If you are struggling with what to do and how to plan your workouts, she has many challenges that will give you structure.
· Her channel also has a lot of food recipes which is helpful as well.
Cons-
· Her music… it is quite irritating. Music PTSD is real.
· Her workouts are repetitive (good for beginners but not really for anyone else). After some time of doing her workout, I can freestyle a ‘Chole Ting’ on the spot. So, I do recommend mixing other youtubers in, especially if you are like me (I am someone who gets bored very easily, so I like doing a variety of different workouts.).
1. 2. 3.
Recommend it to beginners.
Pilates
Taylor Toned(Pilates)
Burn level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/10
Pilates are extremely misleading. Advertised more relaxing alternative fitness, Pilates leaves you shaking and on a verge of a mid-awakening meltdown. I personally like Taylor more than other Pilate youtubers (100% because she is British so listening to her speak is tore able-) and she is my go-to.
Pros:
· You will not be able to move the next two days after.
· Like I said, she does speak but it more like a nice 80s dance vid than an annoyingly positive spiel.
1. 2. 3.
Dance
Hands Clap (Dance)
Burn level: 🔥/10
This just gained some attention on Tiktok but this 3min turned 30 min routine was a HUGGGGEEEEEEEE hit in Japan and Korea. (Like, my socials were just this for a long time.) So many people were able to lose weight by doing this for a couple of weeks, which is not bad considering this is low impact.
Pro-
· As straightforward as it gets and it’s fun too.
· I know I said low impact and is not strenuous at all but do expect to break a sweat.
Con-
· You will live, breathe, eat the song.
· I am so sick and tired of the song at this point.
1.(15 min version) 2.(results)
Warmups, Stretching and cool-downs:
1. 2. 3. 4.
There are so many other youtubers that I get my workouts from. The main reason I like doing these are because of what I like in terms of aesthetics. Doing home workouts means that I am using my own body weight which helps with keeping lean and being strong from the inside. I really hope that this helped introduce some fitness youtubers to you.
Let me know how it goes.

How to: Self Love
In the recent years, especially online, there has been a constant push for "self love". Anytime someone might express the tiniest bit of negativity about their love life or social life, the answer always seems to be something along the lines of "just love yourself". While I am always an advocate for self love because I truly believe some people wouldn't have the problems that they do, not only do I know that it can only do so much, but that it's also not so easy to achieve. Nor do some people even know where to start. A lot of people seem to be screaming it as a solution but very few are telling others how to achieve it.
↓
♡ Get off of the internet.
I am so serious when I say that one of the worst detriments to your mental health and self love journey is social media. I'm not telling anyone to cut out social media as a whole (although I'm also not not saying that) but it will be virtually impossible to get to a headspace you're content with when you're constantly bombarded with the "perfect" lives of strangers. There will always be a comparison going on in your head and doubts about your own life and where you feel you should be. It's the perfect breeding ground for resentment and jealousy and more insecurities.
Cut down on how much time you spend on social media. Fill that time with things of the real world, and when you are on social media, curate your online experience. Follow people who look like you or better yet, follow people who don't post themselves or anything about their "glamorous" life at all. There's nothing wrong with having a following list filled with nothing but food bloggers or interior design accounts or cat accounts. You want to see content that's going to make you feel good and not make you feel worse about yourself.
♡ Adopt a healthier lifestyle!
Believe it or not, but eating bad foods and ingesting soft drinks/energy drinks all the time actually does have an impact on how you physically feel. It can actually make you feel more groggy and less energetic once it's worn off. Eating right is just a small step in making yourself feel better. Not only is it good for your body so it is going to have a legitimate positive impact on your overall health and physical well-being, but I'll be honest here and say that the validation is also a plus.
It does make you feel good about yourself to know that you're leading a relatively healthy lifestyle and that you're actively putting in work to improve and maintain your health. That's not bad to say. The same goes for exercise, and exercise also releases endorphins that help you feel happy after workouts. No one's saying you need to be 100 lbs, but you just need to do whatever is going to make you feel good about your body. When you think you look good, you feel good.
♡ Self Care!
This can be anything from skincare to taking yourself out on a date. I think it's safe to say that a lot of people's insecurities stem from body related things, and skin would be right up there with weight. Improving what you decide to eat will have a positive effect on your skin, yes, but for some people, that will only do so much. Other methods also need to be adopted, and developing a skincare routine can make plenty of people feel productive even when they aren't "actually doing anything". Feeling like they're doing something worthwhile (which they are) can make a lot of people feel better about themselves.
Pampering yourself in general can have a surprising effect on how you feel about yourself. A lot of people will write it off as meaningless or superficial (🙄) but you're literally loving yourself. You're performing acts of love on yourself whatever those may be to you. If you love to read, take yourself on a date to a bookstore and go somewhere nice to sit down and read it. If you're really into fashion or beauty products, take yourself shopping and try on as many clothes as you want or test the products you want to try.
If you like tasting new things, take yourself out to a new restaurant or maybe a familiar one and try a new meal. See if there's wine tasting or cheese tasting near you. Take bubble baths and sign up for massages. Loving yourself means actually loving yourself and just like you would with anyone else, you want to do things that show that.
♡ Cultivate Hobbies!
It's true that when you have exciting things going on in your life, you're too busy to think about anyone else's life but your own. When you're happy with the things going on in your own life, you won't feel envious of someone else's or feel insecure about yours. Read more books that interest you, and Goodreads is a good app to use to keep track of what you want to read, what you have already read, and what you thought about what you already read.
If you have the means to, travel more. You don't have to go across the ocean to get more life experience and culture, but even just a city you've never been to is a good place to start. Take up an instrument you've always wanted to play or start lessons for a sport that always interested you. If you have the chance to, join a committee that plans events or take an opportunity to travel abroad for school. Look into internships. The point is to have things going for yourself, things that will enrich your life both in the now and the future. When you start to make yourself into a more well rounded individual, you'll feel more accomplished with your life and yourself.
♡ Become your dream girl!
Think of the absolute best version of yourself. Think of what her hair is like and what kind of makeup she wears and how she dresses and what her hobbies/interests are. Away from the influence of the internet, think about what you want to be. If it helps, write all of that down and the necessary steps it takes to become her. It could be something as simple as drinking lemon water every morning or doing some ballet stretches every night. Your goal is to become that dream version of yourself and no one else has to be privy to this journey but you. Sometimes, altering things about yourself does help you love yourself more and there's nothing wrong with that.
♡ Talk to yourself!
Yes. Talk to yourself. Buy a journal and make a habit of writing out your thoughts. Try to write something every day. Especially negative thoughts and feelings, because carrying those around doesn't make anyone feel good. Write about things you want to change or improve in your life. You could even write about something that happened that day and how it made you feel. It's healthy to do so because holding things in can and will come back to chip away at your emotions. It's also therapeutic to release all of that.
Start writing love letters to yourself too! It doesn't have to be a whole letter. It could just be a compliment on a sticky note that you put on your mirror or wall. Express positive feelings about yourself and put it in a letter like you would someone else that you love. Hype yourself up! Stroke your own ego! Make yourself feel loved. Start thinking about what you like about yourself and tell yourself how much you love those things. Write words of encouragement! Go all out and make it pretty and even spray some perfume on it. It can be hard to do it daily so try for once or twice a week at first. Read them all at the end of the year or if you don't want to wait that long or don't want them to pile up, open them every 6 months or so. Tell yourself all of the things you want someone else to tell you!

Any tips for attracting old money types? Currently I've been socializing in different circles in my town and I am starting to build up connections with people that will help with many different things but right now it is mostly middle class and upper middle class. Also, if you have to have any methods of recognizing them? Thanks for your time!
There are many factors and I think it really begins with yourself and who you are at your core. Old money is extremely exclusive and private. If they sense someone not aligning with their values and their upbringing they don’t bother to associate with them. I’ve seen it a few times. There’s been girls who have conversations with us and as soon as they start to curse excessively or idolize modern celebs like Meg the Stallion they just look at each other awkwardly and don’t continue the conversation further. They are very intelligent people with a lot of educational background so if someone isn’t proficient with the way they talk and use slang it’s another easy indicator to them. I’ve picked up a third language and felt so accomplished until I realized that’s the standard for most of them and they tend to know more and have traveled a lot more than me. And I’ve traveled a lot myself. They consider travel to be educational and that is always one of their main priorities. They’ll buy long lasting sustainable items instead of buying trending items and use all the money they save towards their education or future investments. If you want to befriend old money, you pretty much have to live the same lifestyle. Do you really want that brand new car or visit five different states in Europe next summer? This is what it comes down to. And a lot of their valuable items tend to be passed down through generations and it helps them save a lot and use their money towards what they value more. Education, travel, compounding inheritance etc. I really believe that when I became more minimalistic and mindful of what I chose to do with my money befriending old money became natural. I wasn’t in a new flashy car anymore. My health and education were prioritized and that led me to meeting some of them in fitness studios, certain retail stores, hiking groups, and really any valuable social setting. Being a socialite and going to the clubs and mansion parties is fun and all, but it’s definitely not their vibe. Well, for the majority of them at least. I feel like I traded my old life for a new one. And I liked my old life, but I love my new one. I think deciding to evolve and see what else is out there was good for me. I could go on and on about this topic, but to summarize it lightly, take a look at where you are in your life at the moment and who you connect with regularly. Ask yourself if they are the average consumer or the more mindful one. You’ll start to realize that 90% of society does not align with old money. And they live for social media and not themselves. It’s a different mindset to settle into. There are millionaires and billionaires that will never be accepted into the exclusive old money world. And they keep it that way for a reason. I typically don’t recognize them, occasionally I’ll wonder if a person is old money. But I really never fully find out until conversations are made and details are gathered. There were times where I thought I was certain someone was old money and the person just happened to be wearing that certain brand or be at that certain place for whatever random reason. If you live the same lifestyle as them and just focus on improving yourself, you will more likely than not meet them out of the blue.

How to study grammar in a foreign language
I have studied grammar in French, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese and Russian, so I’m basing this off of my experiences with that. I’m going to preface this by saying that in order to study grammar fairly quickly and effectively, you’re going to need to put the work in. Yes, you can learn grammar through conversation and making mistakes, but frankly, it will take a lot longer, and will be a lot more confusing. Grammar is hard and often boring, but it’s necessary.
Do practice questions! This is honestly your best option. Get a workbook (you can probably find loads of PDFs online, like on Z-library), and work through the questions without checking your notes.
Make your notes as minimal as you can! Just write down the essentials, which is usually the structure, when you use the structure and some example sentences. It’s tempting to write down what the textbook says word for word, but it’s a waste of time.
Make your own example sentences! Use your own vocabulary, even if it’s limited, to make your own sentences in the language. If you can do this accurately, then that’s a sign that you do know the structure.
Get corrections! You can use HiNative, or ask a native speaker. It’s important to know where you’re going wrong, so you can target your weaknesses later.
Write! This is the best, honestly. Writing is a fairly complex and necessary way of demonstrating your understanding of grammar, and it’s easy to see where you are going wrong when you write. You can use a site like Journaly to get corrections.
Do translations! Get an article or short story, and try translating a paragraph into your target language (make sure to get corrections). Look up vocabulary you don’t know, as that isn’t the most important thing in this exercise.
Drill your irregular verbs! Use flashcards, write them over and over again, however you do it, just get them stuck in your head.
Make a cheat sheet! I did this with French and it worked wonders. I recommend just doing it to review rules that you at least have a vague idea about.
Ask questions! If you have a teacher, or a native friend, ask them for help understanding grammar. You can also use online forums.
Use formulae! If you have a fairly logical brain, then it might make sense for you to write your notes using this format.
Read more! Input is EVERYTHING. Reading more books and articles in your target language will expose you more to grammar in it’s natural state, and that will really improve your grammar.
Be aware of when you use certain grammar rules! Ask questions, make your notes and practice loads. It’s really important to be solid in your knowledge of the usage of a grammar rule.
Regularly review! You can look at your notes, or do some online quizzes. Just make sure you’re regularly refreshing your memory.
Thanks for reading this post! I hope it was somewhat useful to you!
