if you’re ever going through a feeling of low racial self esteem and are suffering from low confidence in your beauty, self hatred, etc because of it… educate yourself about your personal heritage, history and ancestral plights.
learning about the ancient african practices of spirituality, community, beauty, etc… and learning about systemic racism and how my people have continued to revolt has literally made me feel so powerful, gorgeous, and WORTHY. please learn your history. i’m begging you. you can read, watch documentaries, whatever you choose. i’ve personally learned via video essayists on youtube like f.d. signifier. his work has made me aware of authors like bell hooks, audre lorde, angela y. davis, etc. just try it. please.

I started this morning off with stretching. I was on a plane for ages last night, and I really felt as if I needed a good stretch to start my day right. I did the foot, ankle, hip, and calf strengthening exercises I usually do; my resistance band workouts; the 6-pound weight routine I’ve been following; and then I did a series of stretches from a Lynda Carter workout guide. I also did a 30-minute mat Pilates YouTube video to start keep my usual routine and help relieve some of the tension in my back, neck, and shoulders that the plane gave me.
For breakfast I had spearmint tea with lemon and honey; turkey bacon and eggs with tomato, sharp cheddar, and spinach scrambled in; a vanilla collagen smoothie; some chia pudding; and a little bit of mango and watermelon. I planned on going on a walk early because it’s going to be hot today, so I did my skincare and sunscreen, made myself a matcha, grabbed a ginger ale Zevia for the road, and started in on getting my 10,000 steps done for the day. My mom is a “have some protein and go on a power walk” woman, so she got her weights, we went on a really lovely, brisk stroll, and we knocked the 10,000 out at the start of the day.
I also started sleeping with this playlist on around 6 weeks ago, and my sleep is a lot better. I’m not going to claim it’s working miracles, but as someone who knows a lot about restless sleep, I can say that I wake with my mind refreshed and relaxed. I have it set up so that the last thing I hear before I fall asleep is 528 Hz Whole Body Regeneration and the first thing I hear when I wake up is 396 Hz Liberation from Fear. I don’t listen to it with my AirPods or headphones unless I’m somewhere I have to keep things quiet (like a plane), I let my mind go blank and slip into peace, and I focus on frequencies over hypnosis tapes. I'll admit that I do think I need to be more much more consistent with using frequencies, but listening to these and taking a low dose ashwagandha gummy make life feel amazing.
So basically exercising, socializing, self care, and extra effort on days I feel blah have saved the day yet again.

Hibiscus symbolizes divine feminine energy, and nurturing creation. It is associated with honoring life on Earth, beauty, love, and romance. Hibiscus is here to remind us to recognize the beauty and joy around us on our spiritual journeys.
Finding offline hobbies you enjoy
* Revisit activities you loved as a child to uncover interests that may still bring you joy today.
* Try a variety of hobbies without pressure of committing to one, just allow yourself to explore and give things a shot. Ideally this will be done for free or with minimal financial input.
* Choose hobbies based solely on enjoyment rather than skill, productivity, or recognition. Don’t go in with the idea that you will get money or likes or followers from it. You are doing it for your own enjoyment and nothing else.
* For mind engagement, try reading, sudoku, word searches, crossword puzzles, seek and finds, cryptograms, and logic puzzles.
* Try movement-based hobbies such as walking, running, dance classes, hiking, biking, skating, or recreational sports. You’d be surprised how many rec teams for adults may exist in your area that could become a huge part of your lifestyle if you join! It’s great to have physical opportunities that aren’t the standard “workout routine”.
* Experiment with creative outlets like writing, drawing, painting, photography, or learning an instrument.
* Spend more time outdoors through hobbies that connect you with nature and fresh air, even by taking a hobby you’d typically do indoors and instead doing it at the park.
* Notice which activities make you lose track of time and enter a flow state, as these could be indicative of true passion and may be something you want to devote to making a bigger part of your life.
* Look into joining local groups, clubs, or classes to make hobbies more social and motivating. This could be your new ‘3rd place’
* Consider a hobby sampler challenge by trying something new each week or month.
* Sometimes you may need to give new hobbies multiple chances before deciding whether they're a good fit for you.
* Ask yourself how you want to feel, then choose hobbies that support that pursuit. Maybe you want to feel more artistic but feel frustrated by drawing and painting. Don’t abandon your artistic goals, instead try different styles (watercolor, colored pencils, acrylic, oil pastels, markers, pencil only etc), different starting points (rather than a blank page try coloring books or paint by number canvases), or other mediums like pottery, sewing/embroidery etc
* Remember that the best hobby is one that makes you excited to spend less time on screens and more time engaged in real life.
Does this count?
I tried it once and they said I was a natural 😆
Whenever I think about joining a club or some kind of social group … I shiver 🥶
