This is what happens when I become just a little too curious about the prequel to a bad fanfiction that included Geno from Super Mario RPG.
This particular fanfic, which is the first of several in the same universe and shall not be named, has a human fall in love with Bowser and vice versa. I’m going into this with vague memories from having previously skimmed this fic. Also, I’m only doing this because (1) a friend of mine sent in a critique and it got deleted within a day even though criticism was “accepted” (still unsure if the review was deleted by the author or reported) and (2) seeing a lack of simple research or common sense or nonsense when it’s obvious the writer isn’t playing around irks the heck out of me. Seeing Mama Yuzu from the bad-fanfiction blog rip into badly written fanfics spurred this on.
The first chapter starts off with an excerpt of a song that supplies the fic’s title. That’s fine. Getting titles from a line in a song is all right as long as there aren’t clumps of lyrics spread throughout the fic itself. If a certain character is known to break out into song, then there’s an exception although I wouldn’t peg someone from a medieval times to be singing something like Bare Grace Misery.
It should also be mentioned this is all done from the PoV of the OC.
