How to apply Songbird in four easy steps.
Debuted at Colossalcon 2016. With over 1000 individual feathers, I think I rocked it!

My Ornifex with other Dark Souls costumes at Colossalcon 2016. I was also judged by the Face Off “judges”, haha.

Three years ago, I started on my first pattern for the Black Knight from Dark Souls. Look how great it became!
[my apologies if you get this question a bunch, but what material did you use for your black knight cosplay?]
You don’t need to apologize! I mainly used sintra for the costume. Sintra is a pvc sheet that can be molded with heat. You can find the material at your local sign shop or online (http://www.amazon.com/Online-Metal-Supply-Plastic-Expanded/dp/B00O0CWRIW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439865543&sr=8-1&keywords=sintra+pvc).
The shield and sword were made from insulation foam and the base of the horns of the helmet were styrofoam. I used bondo to fill any lines and to smooth the horns. The gold detail work was clay.
If you would like some more WIP photos like the one above or more details, feel free to ask!
Here’s the pictures I took of some of the awesome cosplays from the first day of Omni Expo! If you see yourself please reblog this with your username or message me so I can tag you!
My Valka Haddock at Omni Expo!
Foam base for the Songbird is done and the fabric was dropped off today. Onwards to patterns and sewing! Oh Lord help me...
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Here is a very green update for my next costume. I’ve been working on building the body of Songbird from Bioshock Infinite out of furniture foam. I have no idea what I’m doing, haha. Hopefully, I’ll be able to finish it quickly!
Beautiful photo by Joe Rondone in a Tallahassee Democrat news article. This was taken at ALTcon 2015 yesterday. It was a great convention! I got to take another class from RJ Haddy (on how to make dental appliances), met tons of people, and won first place in the costume competition. I even ran into another Valka!!
You can read the news article here
Last weekend, I went to swampcon with my Valka Haddock from How To Train Your Dragon 2 and left with 2nd place in the costume competition. I was also lucky to have photo shoot with Negi Images. Please go give him some love!

"Could- could it be? After all these years?"
Some of the AMAZING cosplays that I was able to see at Swampcon this year, and yes I cosplayed Bolin again. Everyone was awesome, but I have to give a shout out to the master skulls gang and Valka (Hiccup’s Mom from HTTYD2), every single time I saw her I froze, made some weird sounding noises, and freaked-out. All-in-all, I had an awesome time at Swampcon
Thank you for the Valka love!
Happy New Year! It's hard to believe how much has happened and how many amazing people I've met. The Black Knight and Valka taught me a lot about props and armor, the quick Qunari build taught me about prosthetics, but 2015 shall be the year of the creatures!

Wow! I can't believe it! Thank you howtotrainyourdragon! Special thanks to The Portrait Dude for the pictures!
I thought I would release another photoset of my Valka now that httyd 2 is out on DVD! Go get it! The movie is amazing.
I decided to have an official photo shoot of my Impa (Skyward Sword) before I potentially retired the costume. She is what got me into cosplaying and I'm so glad that this costume has held up for two years!

Hello! I was searching for Impa cosplays so i could help out my friend with her cosplay and neither of us have a clue of how we should tackle her cloak/cape and that's exactly why i'm here! Could you help me by explaining how you made her cloak? I'm very sorry for approaching you out of nowhere but i'm extremely grateful for any help or pointers you could give me.
I love questions!
I made Impa a long time ago so I don't remember some details and she was a two week project. :P
The cloth I used was some kind of a synthetic knit...polyester maybe?
Here is a picture of the cape laid out. Where the gold designs become smaller is where it will wrap around your shoulder as opposed to the larger designs near your feet.
What I did to put it on was I folded the corner with the smallest designs underneath the side of the cape with the designs and draped the cape around my shoulders. Then I pinned the two new edges together. Here is a good photo for a visual of what I mean. I also had an extra piece of rectangular cloth that I would wrap around my neck and shoulders so that it would not be so obviously pinned. Example.
The gold designs were the same kind of fabric and were adhered by an iron on adhesive that you can find at Joanns.
Let me know if anything was too confusing or if you have more questions! I have a lot of pictures of the costume under my Impa album on my facebook page.
