New fic idea bc I’ve watched the new James Charles music video like five times now. The comeback is insane *munches on popcorn and reloads video a sixth time.* But back to the idea.

Sokka and Zuko, like maybe 5 years after the war? Well Sokka is doing his own thing helping his dad with the reconstruction project and Zuko ends up meeting up with him and Aang to help out in a small town called Cranefish Town. Well Sokka and Zuko end up doing the do and everything and end up having basically a fling while Mai was back in the Fire Nation. Maybe they’re in a fight, idk 👀 But Zuko ends up leaving and going back home to her and leaves Sokka in the dust. And the cycle continues until Mai finds out and Zuko has to make a choice? Would yall read?

an: Ya’ll, i know it’s been a long six months for everyone. My grandpa passed away in early January and it’s been a downhill spiral since. Buuuut I’m back! This is yet another clunky oneshot but hey, I think it’s cute! Also you get brownie points with me if you know where the original scene if from! And just a quick update on my current projects, I’m planning on giving you guys the lovetriangle we never got between Sokka, Zuko, and mc. It’s a full length book spanning from book one to book three. I’ll have an official update posted some time this month with an official drop date. I want to get a decent amount of chapters done before I start publishing just in case I fall into another pit of despair. I know it seems like I enjoy falling off the face of the earth but I really do hate to leave ya’ll hangin!

Zuko was NOT living, laughing, and loving. He didn’t think that a high school reunion would be particularly fun, but he also didn’t think he was that scared of all the old bullies but (y/n) and Sokka had convinced him that it would be ok. But some people were still giving those judgemental looks, making snide remarks. Some things hadn’t changed. But he was getting through it. Well, until Mya said something about some kid that had been particularly mean to him he’d felt like the room shrunk. He felt like he was gonna puke. “Uh… I need some air…” Zuko said quietly before making a break for the door. (y/n) watched him go, frowning as she stepped away from Sokka and his friends. Aang frowned and Mai ran a hand through her hair. 

“I’ll go check him,” Aang said as he tried to hand his cup to (y/n), who had walked over. She was about to grab it but Mai had scoffed and rolled her eyes, getting Aang’s attention. “No, I’ll go. I mean I’m his girlfriend.” She huffed, making Aang raise a brow. “And I’ve known him for how many years? I can handle it.”

“Well I’ve lived with him for a while, I can handle comforting my boyfriend.” She snapped, making a point to add that boyfriend in. Aang opened his mouth for a retort but (y/n) huffed and stuck her hand out. “You two need to chill the fuck out,” it sounded a little meaner than she intended it to be but hey, it got her point across. “You two are being ridiculous.” They both looked at her, a little surprised. (y/n) and Zuko were close, but it wasn’t like they were besties or anything. But they couldn’t really say anything as they watched her leave, going to find Zuko on her own. “What dimension are we in?” Mai looked over at Aang but he only waved her off and went to talk to someone else.

Meanwhile, (y/n)’s heels clicked and echoed in the empty hallway of their old school, trying not to get caught up in the memories. She looked at the banners and the other decorations and smiled a little. Then she sighed as she entered the senior wing. As she rounded the corner and saw the cracked door of a classroom, she frowned a little, pace slowing a little. She wasn’t sure if he’d be happy to see her but hey, she was gonna try. As she approached the door she knocked. It was gentle and she could hear him clear his throat. “Zuko, honey, can I come in?” 

There was a bit of silence and then came a soft “yea” and a sigh. She stepped in and shut the door behind her as she looked at him. He was sitting on the teachers desk, hands clasped and elbows resting on his knees. He looked overwhelmed, anxious, and she wasn’t completely sure of what to say. “Um, you ok?” She asked, brows furrowed with worry. He looked at her for a moment and then at his hands again. He was quiet for a minute, like he was trying to find the words. “Well I was just talking and then I looked around and there were so many people, all the faces, and then Mya said something to me about some jock that used to be an asshole to me and… it was too much for tonight.”

She nodded and stepped closer to him and he glanced up at her. “Yea, I get that.” She said softly as she looked down at him. He looked back at his hands and shook his head with a huff. “I don’t think I can go back out there,” he said quietly, hair falling over his face.

(y/n) smiled a tight smile and sat beside him on the desk, fixing her dress and clasping her own hands together. She just sat there, she didn’t say anything and neither did he. The silence was comfortable, but it wouldn’t stay unbroken. “I’m sorry that you had to come and check on me. You’re still the life of the party, you should be out there doing that.” He laughed a little and shook his head. “I’m ok, some old high school bullies can’t get to me that bad.” He seemed so nonchalant about his feelings and it saddened her. She sighed as she thought of what to say. 

“You know what I hate?” Her question seemed random and he just blinked at her, mildly confused. She patted his knee and continued. “I hate that a lot of the kids at school used to basically torture you.” she twiddled her thumbs as she looked over at him. He was listening and looking at the ground. She just took a deep breath. “But what I hate more is that I was too for a while.” He looked over at her, a small smile on his lips. “If this conversation keeps going the way it is I’d say you still are.” She scoffed and pursed her lips at his joke. 

“Well my point is, there was a point in time where I would’ve never been friends with you.”  She looked at her hands and he went to say something but he wasn’t quick enough. “And now, well I guess you’re one of my favorite people.” She looked back up at him and shrugged a little, smiling. “And if you need to spend the rest of the reunion in a classroom all night,” she looked around and shrugged again. “Well I’m happy to do it with you.” He looked at her and nodded, smiling a little now too.

a/n: ok so here I present to you a cute ass Zukka fanfic that a just kinda wrote… But I’ve been having hella writers block and the big sad but I’m feeling better now! I know my posting schedule is abysmal but hey, we may be flailing but we ain’t failing!

Sunlight filtered through the white curtains of Sokka‘s room. It was a cool October morning, the apartment was sort of chilly but all Zuko could think about was Sokka, how his arms were wrapped around him, his stomach pressed against his back and radiating warmth. As hard as things were going, as bad as his home life was, Sokka was that light at the end of the tunnel and mornings like these made everything so much better. He stirred and Sokka wrapped his arms tighter in an attempt to keep him where he was. Zuko smiled at that and rolled over, his nose touching Sokka’s gently and he smiled as his eyes opened to look at Zuko “Mornin’, sleeping beauty.” Sokka said it softly as he gave him this goofy grin.

“Morning,” Zuko replied as he ran his hands through his hair. They didn’t really get a lot of calm mornings like this anymore. They usually overslept, rushed out the door, and made it to school with only minutes to spare. And on weekends usually one of them was gone before the other woke up, work being a big factor. But it was a Saturday and everyone else had gone to a party while they decided to stay in and have a quiet night. Thankfully that quiet night had become a quiet morning, one that they both enjoyed immensely. For Sokka, there was no greater joy in his life and being with the man he loved. And he did love him, even if he had loved him quietly for a good two years before they actually got together.

Normally on a Saturday morning one of them would have to go pick up Suki and Toph, both of whom were too drunk to drive themselves home at night. They usually ended up crashing it one or the others place, and it wasn’t strange for Toph to be tipsy when she was picked up. But they’d turned off their phones and decided that it would be a Katara and Aang problem for the day. They both deserved to have a morning without disruption, right? After all their crazy lives had been getting in the way of them just being happy with each other. They didn’t have a lot of free time anymore, and if this gave them some free time then so be it.

They just laid there for a while, smiling at each other and exchanging soft kisses. Hands roamed and they couldn’t help but giggle with each other. They traded sweet nothings with each other, thoughts they would never speak of with anyone else. They shared their secrets, their pains, everything that made them happy, whatever came to mind. And when they decided that they probably should get out of bed, which was only an hour and a half later, Sokka got up and went to the kitchen to make a pot of coffee. Zuko stayed behind in bed, just laying there and smiling at the ceiling fan because damn, he sure was happy right now. But of course, like any caffeine addict, the smell of a fresh brewed pot of coffee had him in the kitchen quicker than the snap of fingers.

“No cream, extra sugar?” Sokka glanced at him from the counter. In front of him were two coffee mugs, both roughly the same size. He nodded, smiling at him and just taking in the fact that he had memorized how he liked his coffee. Not many people did that, he thought. And as Sokka got to work making coffee, he started scrounging around in the fridge for something to eat. In the end he only produced a half eaten pizza and he didn’t even bother to heat it up. He just took a slice and ate it, making Sokka cringe. That was one of his things. He didn’t like cold pizza. Zuko had just laughed at him when he told him that, he didn’t really understand it considering that was pretty much a staple food for him growing up. But Sokka had his quirks, and he thought it was cute. It did sometimes get on his nerves, though. Nothing could be that simple apparently.

“Forty five seconds?” He glanced over at Sokka and he nodded. Sokka just smiled to himself as he thought about how Zuko knew just what to do, even if it wasn’t exactly the easiest route. They each had their own little quirks, their own little way of doing things, and yet they always accommodated each other and the love they had for each other, it was evident in the way they simply interacted. They could be staring at the four walls with each other and still somehow have the most amazing time. They loved to be in each other’s company, even though a lot of people didn’t see how they got along or how they even could stand to be in the same room as each other. But they didn’t really care what other people thought, they didn’t really care if people understood or not. They were happy and that’s all that really mattered to them.

“I have to be at The Jasmine Dragon by four,” Zuko said with a huff as Sokka handed him his coffee. Sokka just nodded and wrapped an arm around him, pulling him closer and kissing his forehead. “That’s fine, I’m pretty sure I have to go to practice at three thirty anyways. Do you think you can drop me off? I mean, it is on the way.” He gave him a cheeky grin when Zuko rolled his eyes. “Really? Are you fishing for more time?” Sokka just scoffed and gave him a dramatically offended look. “What? Is it wrong for me to want to spend more ime with my boyfriend? Or am I crazy?” Zuko rolled his eyes again but smiled, it reached his eyes and Sokka just thought that it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

“Not crazy, just crazy attached.” Zuko smiled up at him and craned his neck down and kissed him softly before pulling away and Sokka smiled while shrugging. “Well, maybe I am. But I make up for it, don’t I?” Sokka kissed him again, with more force behind it this time. And when he pulled away he gave him the cheeky reply of “in more ways than one.” Zuko rolled his eyes again, shaking his head and smiling. It was unbelievable how Sokka, even in the most intimate of times, could make such a comment. But hey, that was Sokka and he loved him anyway. Despite the coffee and the food that should have given them energy, they ended up spending the rest of the morning and most of the afternoon in bed, cuddling and watching TV. All seemed right with the world in that moment, all quiet and still and perfect. They wouldn’t have traded it for the world.

a/n: so I’m aware that I did not mention this coming out… that’s because I wrote this in half an hour after watching Scarface last night. I fell in love with Manny all over again and ofc I had to write for him. It’s short, but I’m really proud of it.

You were checking your appearance in the mirror, just getting ready to know what was planned for the night. You hummed as you twirled in the mirror, smoothing out the creases of your dress. You’d gotten into the nicest, shortest dress you could and applied just the right amount of makeup. You ran your hands down your midsection, admiring yourself when you felt, soft, cold hands on your neck. You didn’t panic, though. Knowing all too well who the hands belong to, you leaned back a small bit just to give him more access. Manny took the chance to fasten a necklace and let it drop. It landed neatly on your collar bone and shimmered in the light beautifully. “What’s this for?” You turn to look up at him through your lashes.

“Can’t I treat my darling without a reason?” He asked and you smiled at him lovingly, liking the view of his big grin, pearly white teeth, and chocolate brown eyes. They had a mischievous glimmer in them that made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up with excitement. “Well, of course you can,” you said as you turned away from him to admire the necklace in the mirror. The silver chain had a pendant with the biggest sapphire you’d ever seen and it made your eyes go a little bit wider. He came up behind you and began to pepper soft kisses on your neck and shoulders, moving to hold you from behind. You sighed happily, resting your hands on his, swaying to the nonexistent music.

“Mi amada, you look so beautiful,” he cooed sweetly in your ear. It rolled off his tongue effortlessly and you leaned against him, feeling your heart racing. You closed your eyes as his hands traveled down your body at a painfully slow pace. You huffed when he stopped at your mid drift and turned to look at him again, a pout on your face. “We won’t ever get to dinner if you keep getting cheeky, Mr. Ribera.” You tapped your finger on his chest and he grinned at you.

“Well, cariño, we don’t exactly have to go out tonight, do we?” He then pouted at you and you pursed your lips in thought for a moment, unsure of your next retort. Then you grinned at him. “Well, of your a good boy at dinner I think I’ll let you do whatever you want after.” He chuckled eagerly at that and grabbed your hips, pulling you as close to him as he could. “And if not?” He had that cheeky ass grin and you giggled as you stood on your tip toes to whisper in his ear, “I’ll make it hell for you.” He swallowed thickly as you pulled away, a teasing grin on your lips , then you turned away from him to admire your new accessory again.

“I’ll get the car ready then, ok?” He looked you up and down, biting his lip and you nodded. “Of course, darling. I’ll meet you in just a few minutes.” Nodding while looking you up and down again, he muttered an “ok.” Then he disappeared into the hall and you hummed the song that had been playing in the car earlier that day when coming home from brunch as you walked to your perfume shelf. You picked a beachy scent and spritzed it on, inhaling the scent with an eager smile.

a/n: so I’m aware that this is clunky but I think that it’s super duper cute. This is also the first MLM fic that I’ve posted (though not the first one I’ve written) so I’m not sure if my writing from a man’s pov in a longer format is the best, as I’m constantly learning. If you have any tips on writing for different types of characters and embodying them I’d love to hear them! That Zuko fic that I mentioned in the last post is still in the works as well as a Julian Devorak fic, a Arash Shirazi fic, and another Sokka fic. I’m slowly getting them done but they’re on the longer side so I won’t be pumping them out one right after the other. They are coming though! 

He really didn’t want to think it was a date, they were just two buddies hanging out! Buddies go out to get dinner at one of their shared favorite Mexican restaurant, definitely. And buddies always go and take a long walk back to one of their places that’s only a few blocks away! And buddies definitely give the other stolen glances and shy smiles! They are one hundred percent not on a date! They were just hanging out like good buddies do! Well, that’s what Zuko told himself while he walked beside Sokka, not confident enough to start a conversation again. He had about a million questions like, do you miss home? Have you talked to your dad recently? How’s your family's business? Would you ever want to go back to the south? What was it like growing up in the south? Why do you enjoy that restaurant in particular so much? Is there a specific reason you always double check your locks the same way every time? What made you get in cars? Totally normal questions to ask your buddy, right?

“You good over there?” Sokka elbowed him in the ribs gently, a grin on his face, an eyebrow raised. Apparently he must’ve said it once or twice, but Zuko hadn’t noticed until now. “Yea? Why?” He gave him a look that bordered on annoyance and he sighed. In response Sokka just shook his head with pursed lips. “Jus’ looked like you had something on your mind, ‘s all.” He shrugged and gave him a dubious look. “Really?” Zuko shrugged again and looked down at the sidewalk. “Oh, it’s nothing.” 

“Well if you were thinking about it so hard ‘s obviously something to you.” He elbowed him again, the corners of his mouth downturning slightly, a ghost of a frown forming in his lips. Zuko shrugged again, hands in his pockets. He was shrugging a lot but he didn’t have the words to say anything meaningful. But still he tried to convince Sokka as best he could that he was, in fact, fine. “It’s really not. Trust me, just a stupid thought.” Sokka shook his head. “Ya know you can talk to me. ‘S not like I’m gonna judge you or some shit. Especially if ’s about your family.” That made Zuko’s heart clench. As much as he wanted to believe that, a part of him wouldn’t let him. He could barely open up to his own uncle, or even Katara, much less anyone else. It seemed impossible to trust somebody that wasn’t Mai. Sure, Sokka was easy to talk to, and he was a good listener, he gave great advice, and he never seemed to judge him. But there was one thing he didn’t think he could ever tell him, well, aside from everything else. Only Mai knew about this one secret well unless she’d gone and told Ty Lee. 

It had been on his mind almost all night, but he tried his best to hide it. He didn’t want Sokka thinking he was intentionally not paying attention, or that he was just in his head over nothing at all or something way too serious to even say out loud. He was very self-conscious about it, he wasn’t sure why though. Maybe he wanted to just seem normal to him? After all, Sokka was one of his first guy friends, well a good one at least. Usually the other guys he used to hang out with, well they weren’t actually his friends. He just hung out with them because of the circumstances. But with Sokka, he was truly his friend. And what if this one secret would ruin that whole thing? They had a good thing going, two best friends. What more could he want? Well, a lot more apparently. He internally cringed and kept on keeping on. 

“I know, but I don’t wanna waste your time with something insignificant, ya know? It’s really not important, but if it was I promise I’d tell you.” He gave Sokka a grin and once again Sokka shot back a dubious nod. That was one of the things he liked about Sokka, but also something he absolutely hated. Sokka was so cynical, and on good days it only annoyed him mildly. Usually he could never get away with something for long, Sokka was usually always one step ahead of him in his own head. He was smart, calculating, and somehow he always knew whenever he was lying. He was like a human lie detector and he both loved and hated that about him too. “Well, if you’re sure.” He narrowed his eyes slightly, kinda like he was looking for a tell. With that, Zuko once again looked back at the sidewalk. It was very interesting, obviously.

Of course, he had no idea Sokka was under the impression that it was a date. After all, he did his best to get off work, he had to cancel plans, and he was even planning on paying his way, but of course Zuko threw that right out the window when he asked to split the bill. He left no room for argument and Sokka was sure if he even tried he would’ve been shut down immediately anyways. Zuko was a proud man, and Sokka was sure it would be the death of both of them. Apparently though, he was also not very self-aware, and apparently he was also horrible at taking hints. But Zuko had to know this was a date, right? After all, how many dudes go out with her best friend and get dinner alone and then walk to the other’s apartment stealing glances at the other? How many dudes look at their best friend the way he looked at Zuko? He was sure he was going to get a headache if he kept on being subtle, clearly it wasn’t getting him anywhere.

Clearly they were both in their head, as they didn’t realize they were back at Zuko’s as quickly as they were. They were both a little disappointed, but they had their own reasons. Zuko was disappointed because Sokka had to go home, and Sokka was disappointed that he hadn’t been able to talk to Zuko about their night. To be more specific, that he hadn’t  been able to communicate what the night was. Clearly, Zuko thought they were just two guys hanging out but Sokka had hoped it would have been more. So, they were just standing on Zuko‘s porch exchanging goodbyes, just like always. Their normal, definitely friendly and only friendly goodbyes. But, Zuko didn’t know how long he could keep it up. “Nice to see you again,” Sokka smiled at him, scratching the back of his neck.

“Yea, you too.” Zuko smiled and pulled out his key from his pocket, acutely aware of how close they were on the small porch. He was pretty sure his face was bright red, but if it was, Sokka didn’t say anything about it. He was about to unlock the door when he heard giggles and shushing from behind the door. Suddenly, everything went quiet inside the house. He knew that Mai had invited Katara, Toph, Azula, Ty Lee, and Aang over. But he didn’t expect that there would be six pairs of eyes watching him from behind the curtains in the living room. Once again, Sokka didn’t seem to notice. He didn’t seem to notice much apparently. “We should hang out again, wanna come over next weekend? I’ve got Saturday and Sunday off now.” 

Sokka grinned and nodded. “Yea, sounds good.” Zuko nodded and they fell into silence. “Well, I should get inside. I’m pretty sure if I don’t Mai is gonna tear me a new one for having the porch light on for so long.” His roommate was very on top of saving money when it came to the electricity bill. Sokka nodded and Zuko unlocked the door silently. But Sokka didn’t know how long he could keep pretending, so he figured he’d stop all together. “Hey, Zuko?” He glanced over at him and raised a brow, but before he could ask what he wanted hands were on his waist and Sokka had kissed him. That caught off guard, and he could vaguely hear whispering from behind the door. But apparently that only encouraged Sokka, and he dipped his head to get a better angle and Zuko just went with it. His hands were gripping his shoulders, and he grinned and bit down on Sokka’s bottom lip. Once they parted Zuko looked at his griining companion and he grinned back. All he could say was “wow.”

“Is this the afterlife?” You had been sitting with Bait and Zym shining your sword when you heard that all too familiar voice from the other room. Your sword clattered to the floor and poor Bait, who had been snoozing next to you glowed a nice berry red color when his eyes opened to look around for the source of the noise that had so abruptly pulled him from his sleep. Zym was already on his feet, eyes darting between you and the corner. His tail wagged back and forth eagerly, tongue hanging out the side of his mouth. Your fingers ran across the smooth cloth you were holding, eyes wide and watery. 

The blonde man, who had been staring at the boy king, whipped around when he heard a loud clatter from the room over. His hand fell to the hilt of his sword, the unknown spooking him more than normal. Sure, usually he would exude confidence, pretending he knew exactly what he was doing. But after what he seen? What his father had done? The unknown was terribly frightening now. His eyes were looking around wildly now, like a spooked horse. The others just watched him, unsure of what they could say or do to help ease his troubled mind. 

You had left your sword laying there, too swept up in your emotions to care about it. You jumped up from the step you’d been sat on and flew around the corner, unable to compose yourself even slightly. Zym ran after, chirping excitedly. “Soren?” Your voice cracked when you finally saw him. He looked different, tired. The stubble on his chin made him look older, and there was no mistaking the sadness in his eyes that aged him even more. His shoulders were slumped, he looked troubled. Your heart hurt for him. It hadn’t been that long since you two last spoke but leaving him again nearly broke you. And now he was standing right there and it nearly left you breathless. “Soren, you’re here?!” You felt hot, happy tears well up in your eyes. 

“(Y/N)?” The anxiety on his face melted away, being replaced with just about the brightest smile anyone had ever seen him have. His whole demeanor changed, it was lighter now and everyone could see it plain as day. Before either of you could say anything you sprinted forward, no hesitation at all. His arms were open as you barreled into him. You nearly would have knocked him over if it weren’t for huge dragon arm that had been there and helped him find his balance again. He was too overwhelmed with all his emotions to notice he’d needed the help. His arms wrapped you up in a tight embrace and all he could feel was relief. Relief because you were safe and sound and all in one piece.

His hand cupped the back of your head while the other remained around your waist. He held you as close as he could, as if he was scared you would disappear like the illusions that Lujanne had conjured up back on the Cursed Caldera. You gripped at the back of his shirt collar and stood on your tip toes in an effort to bring him closer. “I’m here,” he said softly. “And this time you’re not leaving me again, got it?” He pulled away from you and you nodded. 

“Loud and clear, Captain,” you sniffled and smiled up at him. He looked you up and down attentively, just like he’d done every time you’d seen him. You looked exactly like you had the day you parted ways. Still so confident, the same kind smile that he fell in love with, your eyes still lit up like they did whenever you were really happy. The fact that you were smiling like that all because of him, it made him feel all kinds of warm fuzzy feelings.

“Erm… Soren, not that I’m not happy to see you but… why are you here?” You placed your hands on his shoulders and his face hardened. Your brows furrowed when all he could say was “we’re all doomed.” Rayla tensed up behind you and Callum frowned, neither knowing what to say. Soren just frowned, holding you as close as he could. This wasn’t like him, he’d never been eager to show so much vulnerability in front of people before, whatever he knew had really shaken him up. “Hey, let’s get you a nice hot cup of tea. Sounds good, yea?” You looked up at him again and he nodded, just glad he hadn’t been turned away by Rayla and the others.

“It’s my dad,” he sighed, gazing into his mug. He looked… sad. Oh, what had that horrible man done now? Callum was the first to interject. “Lord Viren, he’s here? In Xadia?” He suddenly looked anxious and Soren continued, not looking up from his cup. “He’s rallied the armies of four kingdoms. And it’s not just that.” You placed a hand on his shoulder and he leaned into your touch as he continued. “We went to the Sun Elf place and- and my dad, he stole some kind of horrible power. And he used it to transform his armies into….” You squeezed his shoulder and he closed his eyes with a frown. “Into something else.” 

Rayla and Callum shared a look, both troubled and worried. You just listened, barely able to comprehend what you were hearing. You always knew that his father was very… abrasive. But you didn’t think he would do anything like this. “What do you mean?” Ezran looked up at him, he was apparently the only one brave enough to ask. Soren looked at him and licked his lips, as if the words would come to him that way. After a moment to collect his words he spoke again. “They’re stronger, angrier, big claws,” his eyes were wide and panicked now and it unsettled you. “He’s made an army of darkness! And he’s leading them here…” he looked ashamed but he nodded to Zym with a deep frown. “For him. The Dragon Prince.”

Everyone looked at one another, taking in the new information that Soren had just given. It was a lot, some of it was unbelievable, but with his father nothing was impossible apparently. The sound of tea slurping cut through the uncomfortable silence and you looked at Soren, he was unaware of everyone’s eyes on him and you just sighed. When he was done he looked at everyone again and shrugged. “I did use the word doomed.”

You had walked back to the other room and sat on the step. Zym had trotted along with you and curled up at your side as soon as you yourself were settled. Bait was already back asleep and you made sure you were being as quiet as possible when picking up your sword off the stone ground. “Hey, (Y/N)?” You looked up at Soren, he was standing in front of you with a timid smile. “Yes, Sor Sor?” You grinned up at him and he huffed at the nickname you’d been calling him by since childhood. 

“I don’t think you can shine your sword without this.” He presented the cloth square you’d dropped in all the excitement of his return. You smiled at it and took it, dropping it in your lap. And before he could pull away, you grabbed his hand and pulled him towards you, your face soft with worry. He looked surprised, but he sat next to you anyway, not about to complain about getting to spend some extra time with you. He didn’t know why you would turn him away, but he felt like it was something that would happen considering he basically invaded Xadia with his corrupt father and his army. The two of you sat in silence for a moment, there were a million things racing through your mind and you didn’t want to overwhelm him. He was in the same boat, though you weren’t aware.

His hands were in his lap and he was looking at the ground when you spoke up. “I can’t say I’m surprised.” His brows furrowed and you hurried to continue. “I mean, I don’t mean it in a bad way! I’m not surprised that you left, you’re too good for your father and what he does. You have a better heart than him, that’s one of the things that I love about you.” You glanced over at him and he smiled a little, but it was a sad smile and you placed a hand on his shoulder. “You’re a good man, Soren.” Part of him didn’t want to believe you, after all he was at one point fully willing to kill the princes to please his father. He didn’t think that was something a good man would do. “As bad as the circumstances are, I'm still glad you're here. I missed you, more than I care to admit.” Your cheeks felt hot and he smiled at you. 

“I missed you too. I didn’t exactly know you guys were up here so seeing you was a happy accident.” He scratched the back of his neck and you nodded quietly. “I didn’t even really expect you to still be in Xadia. You guys seem to work fast.” You giggled and shrugged. “We do work fast, but not that fast.” He nodded and kept on smiling at you. You smiled back at him and you felt something bump into your hand. You quickly looked down to find that his had been inching closer and closer as the two of you talked. Your face got hotter but when he rested his hand on yours you didn’t pull away. He was looking at you so you looked up at him and you just looked into those pretty blue eyes you loved so much. He intertwined your fingers with his and you couldn’t help but lean in. He met you halfway and pressed his lips to yours in an only slightly awkward kiss. 

You weren't exactly sure what to do with your free hand so you just rested on his cheek and he did the same. You pressed on and scooted a little closer and he moved his hand to your waist. You heard Bait grumble from behind you and you slowly pulled away with a dreamy sigh. You were both red and you couldn't help but giggle at the look of awe on his face. “I never actually thought that would happen.” He sounded like he couldn't believe it and you just giggled again, too flustered to form actual words. “What?” he wrinkled his nose up a little and you just shrugged with a big dopey grin. “I liked it.” He nodded slowly and smiled yet again. All the two of you could do was smile or grin because you were just so simply happy with each other, despite all the bad that was going on at the moment. Without a second thought you kissed him again and he pulled you closer. You guys were just getting into the groove of it when you heard an awkward cough from the other side of the room. You pulled away quickly and saw Callum looking at you with a burning red face and a sheepish smile. “Hey, uh, we're all talking about what our game plan is… are you guys ready?” You both just nodded in unison. He nodded and hurried away to leave you two alone again. You quickly stood up and went to leave but he caught you by the hand and pulled you towards him. 

“Hey, can you promise me something?” He wrapped an arm around your waist and you looked up at him with a questioning look. “Promise me you’ll make it back to me by the end of this, ok?” You nodded, despite your better judgment. Runaan had told Athari he’d be back and that didn’t end up that way. Anything could happen but still, you agreed and told him you would. “You better come back to me too, then.” He nodded and pulled you into another kiss, far more passionate than the previous ones.

a/n: so I didn’t die- but in all seriousness, life has been life-ing and time matches on. But I got inspired and ofc I had to write it out. And ofc the subject had to be my most favorite fictional boyfriend! I know it’s short but I hope you guys love it just as much as I do! <;3

“Hey,” Macie sniffled into the phone and Sokka frowned as he got into his truck, work had just ended and he had been looking forward to going home and taking a nap, just like everyday. But he’s gotten a call as he was walking out of the yard and he’d answered as fast as he could when he’d seen that it was his girlfriend. “Macie, babe? What’s up? Is everything ok?” His voice was laced with concern. She just sniffled again and then whimpered.

“Can you come to the Citgo? Please, it’s just been a day.” She sounded so broken down. He didn’t even really have to think about it, he told he’s be there in five and hung up. He tore out of the parking lot as fast as he could and hurried onto the side street that would bring him to the closest gas station in town. At took him two minutes to get there, his record. He seen her car sitting in the very back and he pulled in next to her and got out.

It took her a minute but she got out and just looked at him. She had tears and mascara running down her reddened cheeks and bloodshot eyes. She looked so sad and in that moment his heart broke a little. He loved her so much and seeing her like that hurt him. “What’s wrong, my love?” He wrapped his arms around her and she smushed her face in his chest with a sob. He ran a hand over her hair in an attempt to soothe her but she didn’t know if it was working or not.

After a few minutes of him just holding her and telling her he had her and that she’d be ok, she finally looked at him with a sniffle. “Sorry,” she mumbled softly. He just shook his head and cupped her cheeks in his hands. “No, baby, no. You don’t have to apologize for needing to cry.” She just looked at him for a second and then blinked away the tears that were threatening to fall. “Well,” she sniffled again and he wiped her cheeks with his thumbs and waited.

“It’s just been a really long week.” She looked away from him and at a tree nearby. “Just… life has been kicking my ass and I don’t know what to do.” He nodded and she pressed her cheek to his chest with a sigh, relishing the feeling. His hands ran up and down her back as she rambled on about she was so thankful he’d taken time out of his day to come see her. He’d told her it wasn’t a problem but she didn’t really believe him. Nevertheless, she was glad she could say that she had a good man. He truly would put anything on hold for her and she couldn’t ask for a better person to be her boyfriend.

Waterfall

prompt: “I found a waterfall!”

a/n: ok, so this definitely is not my most favorite thing I’ve ever written, but I still really like it. I have not ran in a while, I have to confess. It’s been a hot minute, so I’m sorry if this is an exactly like usual. But hey, it’s still something… right?

She was sitting under a tree in camp and reading a book, done with her chores for the day. She was so immersed in it that she hadn’t noticed her boyfriend sit next to her, a shit eating grin on his face. In an attemt to grab her attention Sokka had thought it would be a good idea to poke her in the cheek over and over again, and to his credit it did grab her attention… just not the attention he wanted. At first she just glanced at him, trying her best to ignore him. But with Sokka… you couldn’t just do that. So after he didn’t stop, she smacked his hand away but again, he didn’t stop his pestering. But when she’d finally had enough she turned to him with narrowed eyes and he knew he was in trouble. Before he could even react he was whacked in the shoulder with her book. Not too hard, just not all that gentle either.

"Ow! What was that for?" He rubbed his shoulder with a pout on his face but she just rolled her eyes and opened her book back up. “‘M trying to concentrate.” He let out and annoyed and dramatic sigh, resting his elbows on his knees and just looked at her. She wasn’t paying him too much attention, really wanting to finish the chapter she was on, but after a while his eyes were still on her. When his staring started to get to her she took a deep breath and closed her book, but not before dogearing it. "What is it, Sokka? I'm reading." She didn't seem all that annoyed though, as the corners of her mouth upturned into a small smile.

"Well I was out exploring with Aang and I found this waterfall not far away." Her eyes lit up with interest at the prospect of another hang out spot for the two of them while they stayed put somewhere in the Earth Kingdom. “Well, where is it?" She leaned towards him with intense interest. He just grinned and stood up, helping her to her feet once he himself was steady.

"Just a small walk into the woods."

"Just a small walk in the woods my ass!" The couple had been walking through the woods outside of camp for what she felt was an eternity but what he claimed was only an hour and she wasn't happy. She was being eaten alive by the bugs and her feet hurt. She was sweaty and gross and she just wanted to relax. “Ya know, if I knew it was gonna be this much trouble to get to a damn waterfall, I’d have taken my chances and stayed back with Aang and Katara back at camp.” She smacked a bug that had landed on her arm and she groaned looking at the squashed bug guts on the palm of her hand.

"It's just a little further. I promise!” Sokka glanced back at her and grabbed her hand, eager to show her his new finding. She grumbled something under her breath and kept walking, well trudging, while Sokka skipped through the woods as if they they had been walking only a few minutes. She found it absolutely trying that he was so sure that their destination was so close when she heard nothing but chirping bugs and birds, but no roaring waterfall. But despite her uncertainty she kept on, her fingers still intertwined with his. But sure enough though, Sokka was right. The two came upon the most gorgeous waterfall she had seen in her life. It was breathtaking and she just had to stand there for a second to take it all in.

"It's so… beautiful." She grinned from ear to ear as she looked out on the crystal clear water falling into the body of water below them. "I know, just like me!" Sokka giggled and she shot him a playful glare, smacking his chest gently. "Whatever, dork." Then, without waiting for him, she headed over to the ledge. It wasn’t that much of a walk other than a small incline from where that previously had been. He rolled his eyes with a small pout and followed after her, calling her name and telling her to wait for him and waving his arms like a mad man.

Once he’d caught up with her he pulled her over to edge of the cliff. He had a mischievous twinkle in his eyes and she just instantly knew that he was up to something. Her eyes narrowed as she allowed him to guide her. "What are you doing?" He looked at her and shrugged before grinning again. "Nothin', why?" He tilted his head a little to the left. She shook her head and watched as he began stripping. First his shirt was gone, then his pants, leaving him only in his swim trunks. When he caught her staring he grinned even wider and started flexing his muscles. “Like what you see?” He flexed his bicep and she giggled, shaking her head and muttering “unbelievable” under her breath as she too discarded her clothes that she wished to keep at least relatively dry.

“Wow," Sokka whistled as he looked at her, but she just rolled her eyes with a fond smile, her hand waving him off dismissively as she hung her shirt on a tree limb. When she looked back at him he had another shit eating grin on his face and crossed arms. “What?” She looked down at herself, suddenly a little self conscious. When he didn’t respond she crossed her own arms and huffed at him. “Well?”

"Now jump," he said simply. She looked at him like he was crazy.

"What? You want me to jump? Off a cliff?" He nodded as if it where the simplest request in the wild and she scuttled back in response. "Come on, nothing bad will happen." He gave her a pointed look and crossed his arms again. "I'll show you it’s not so bad, then you jump. Deal?." She went to protest but before she could she heard him yell 'cannon ball' and a loud splash. She looked over the cliff and saw him come up without a scratch.

"You ok, Sokka?" she called, hugging herself and then looking at her surroundings.

"Perfect! See, I told you it was fine! Come on, I'm down here, I'll be right here the whole time." Instead of his usually goofy demeanor, it was tender and it made her feel all kinds of warm and fuzzy. He wasn’t always like that with her, but when he was it made her melt.

"Ok," she called down after a second of hesitation. She took a few steps back and went for a running start and jumping. "Sokka!" she screamed as she fell. Then she was underwater. She felt cool and weightless as she dove down. When she popped open her eyes she saw the deep depths of the water below. Then the sun filtering through the surface and even a few fish swimming above her. She grinned, all hyped up and excited. She kind of couldn’t wait to see the look on her boyfriends face so she quickly started swimming up, heart pounding in her ears.

She broke the surface of the water and looked around. She felt warm arms wrap around her and pull her close. She smiled and looked over her shoulder at him. “See? I told you it wasn’t that bad.” He pecked her cheek and she giggled, content with just staying there.

She was laying on her back under the midnight stars and watching them twinkle. They’d decided they were just going to spend the night there, or at least wait until the moon could guide them back to camp, back to their friends. But before they did that they decided that they just wanted to stargaze for a little while, just the two of them. And she was doing just that, entranced by the twinkling stars in the sky. Sokka on the other hand was watching (Y/N) with a content smile on his face.

"What?" He was so deeply focused on studying every single curve of her face that he hadn’t realized she had rolled over onto her side and was looking at him with the most adoring look on her face. He felt heat creep up his neck and completely warm up his face. He could only imagine how red he was, but he didn’t acknowledge it. He just shrugged and looked up at the sky, hoping she wouldn’t notice how flustered he had gotten. "Nothing,” he said after a few moments. “I just think that you look beautiful tonight." She giggled and he kissed her nose. She scrunched her face up for a second and then scooted closer.

"Well you’re not to bad yourself," she pressed a soft kiss to his lips and grinned at him. "I love you, ya know that?" He nodded with a Cheshire cat grin.

"Well I love ya too."

Just a little rain

prompt: "We're in the middle of a thunderstorm and you want to feel the rain?"

a/n: so… sorry for pretty much dropping off the face of the earth- but I’m back now! Will I drop off the face of the earth again? Honestly, yeah probably. I wrote this at 3 o’clock in the morning, so if this is a little clunky I apologize in advance! But whoooo! First fic if the year y’all :)

They where driving down an empty Road in the middle of nowhere with fields on both sides of the road, they had been for what felt like hours. Normally they wouldn’t make the three day drive from BSSU all the was to Gaoling, however she insisted saying it would be nice to go somewhere new. She’d only visited there once, going there with Toph and the rest of their friends during spring break. That was a year or two ago and she’d been wanting to go back ever since. And so now, that’s where they were heading. They were of course, the odd men out, so they took their own car while Aang, Katara, Sokka, Suki, and Toph could car pool together. It ended up working out just fine, they were besties! What was the worst that could happen?

"Ugh," Zuko let out an irritated groan and squeezed the wheel a little harder until his knuckles turned white. The cause of his sudden outburst and soured mood? Tiny little rain droplets had started to fall down onto the windshield of their car, making a nice ambiance against the music he’d turned down thirty minutes back. His companion, who had been lost in thought and looking at the road ahead of then looked over and gave him questioning look, not really sure why he was getting angry over a little bit of rain. "Everything ok, Zuzu?" She tilted her head like a confused puppy, but he just shook his head and continued looking out onto the road.

Again, all was quiet aside from the soft music and rain droplets, but she didn’t seem to mind all that much. She loved the rain after all but Zuko on the other hand? Apparently not so much. But he kept his complaints to himself, occasionally glancing over at her and smiling as the watched some of the droplets on the window “race” to the bottom. Such a simple act made his stomach roll with that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you’re just simply happy. But after fter a few more seconds of rain he turned on the windshield wipers and huffed as the rain came down harder. She rolled her eyes and his dramatic actions then looked out of the window at the raindrops pounding on the glass.

She had always loved the rain, especially when it begin to fall after a long day of running around Jasmine Dragon, making teas and coffees and pastries and everything in between and then coming home to her nice warm bed and just listening to the pitter patter of it hitting the windows. She loved how the cold rain fell on her hot sweaty skin right as she ran around the track with Sokka, after all their cardio days were rain or shine. She wasn't really all that graceful. Maybe that's another reason she liked the rain. The raindrops never fell in one spot the same time, they were all different, like her. But she could keep thinking or more reasons why she loved it, his sour face right next to her made it difficult.

Zuko on the other hand hated rain. He was like a cat, at least that's what she said, in a teasing way of course! He didn't like rain at all, he didn't know why but he just didn't. Maybe it was because it always seemed to represent sadness and pain, basically his whole life in a nutshell. Now if she’d have been able to read his mind she’d probably have called him mellow dramatic, probably would have even told him that the good experiences outweighed the bad ones. She’d always been the optimist of the duo but that wasn’t a hard thing to accomplish. Zuko just seemed to hate everyone and everything, always a Debby downer. He didn’t understand why she put up with him but he certainly wasn’t about to complain or question why now. But

Speaking of her, she was one of the many things that he didn't hate. In all actuality, he was absolutely whipped for her, and he hated it and loved it at the same time. He would never admit it though, after all he was almost positive she didn't feel the same way. They'd been best friends for years, there was no reason for her to have even the slightest of romantic feelings for him. She never showed him any romantic affection, had she? If she had he’d never noticed and so he just tried his best not to pine over her. And so far it was going pretty damn well. After all she had no clue of his little crush, and so he was good to go on and be the bestie he would forever be. He’d been in airplane mode for a hot minute and he was finally pulled out of his thoughts when he heard her angelic voice from beside him in the passenger seat.

"Pull over." She had uncrossed her arms and was now grinning at him from ear to ear, and she looked like a dog that was overly excited to go for a walk or get a treat. Her eyes were ass big as dinner plates and sparkles like gems. Now, normal he’d smile and go along with whatever crazy plan she’d cooked up in her head but this time he thought she’d lost her damn mind. “I'm sorry, what?" He raised his brows at her and clutched the wheel again, then licked his lips as she pursed hers in what seemed to be annoyance.

"You heard me. Pull over!” She hadn't said it in a demanding way, kind of in a pleading way but not really. Ok, maybe it was a little teensie wheensie bit demanding but he didn’t see it that way. She didn't mean to sound so… whatever way she did. After all he would do whatever she asked, to an extent that is. And of course he did end up doing what she’d asked of him… but only after some serious puppy dog eyes and a stick out lip. He rolled his eyes and pulled over to the side of the road right beside an empty field. They were significantly behind the others already so it wasn’t that big of a deal.

He looked over at her again with an exasperated look, leaning back fully in the seat and raising a brow. “Why did I pull over exactly?" She grinned and took off her green BSSU hoodie and tossed it into the back seat. "I wanna feel the rain." He looked at her, dumbfounded at how simply she’d put it. He had no earthly idea why she would want to get out of the safe car in the middle of a thunderstorm. To him, she sounded mental. She gave him her most serious look, one she never really used, well unless she wanted something just like now. "We're in the middle of a thunderstorm and you want to feel the rain? You'll get all wet," he tried to reason with her but was having none of it.

"So?” She shrugged and unlocked the door. “Clothes will dry." After moment of silence and her puppy dog eyes once again looking into his soul he sighed and gave her one last “do I really have to do this?” look before ultimately giving into her request. He didn't know why he even tried, she always got her way in the end. Spirits he hated the look she gave him whenever he even tried to say no to her. It broke his heart to see her upset, so of course he was wrapped around her finger and he hated it, but again, he didn't complain. He loved her way to much to let her down, it was definitely the bittersweet side of their friendship.

"Fine, five minutes." He took the keys out of the ignition but made no move to get out of the car. On the other hand, she instantly jumped out and shut the door behind her, knowing he wouldn't like it that much if his precious leather interior got damaged. "Come on, Zuko! Get out here!" She had the biggest smile on her face as she twirled around, beckoning him out into the cold and windy weather. Her soaked hair flung water on him as she opened his door. He grimaced as a few water droplets got in his jacket but he hid it well, making sure to smile at her when she skipped over to him.

“Do I have to?" He said it in his whiniest tone possible, but she was unfazed by it and instead giggled and grabbed his wrist. Before he could even react she had pulled him out of the car and into the rain. He stood there stunned for a moment before glaring at her with his lips in a this straight line. "Yes, you had to!" She giggled again and grabbed his hands and forcing him to sway back and forth with her. She was smiling so big that her eyes were all crinkled up and her cheeks were going red. Just one Look at her face in that moment and he melted. He would do anything to be able to see that look on her face again. It was his favorite thing, the one thing that he would do anything for. Suddenly their mushy moment was interrupted by a loud clap of thunder that had ripped through the air. She jumped slightly, her arms wrapped around his neck and she let out a little squeak.

She looked up to his eyes and suddenly she became as red as a tomato, her smile becoming shy in only an instant. "Well, uh... sorry Zuzu." She took a step away from him and looked at her feet, though she didn't seem to regret her actions, she seemed quite pleased with herself actually. His usually pale complexion was now just as red as hers was, he could feel it all over his face and neck and ears. "No, it's fine," he muttered, not at all fine, because in fact his heart was hammering in his chest. Sure they had hugged before, but not like that. She nodded and looked at the darkening sky, a smile tugging at her lips. Spirits, how he loved her smile.

"Why do you like the rain so much?" He crinkled his nose as he looked at his soaked cloths. She looked back at him and wiped some of the water from off her face even thought it did virtually nothing for her. "I don't know," she srugged and then looked around putting her hands on her hips, now feeling a little bold. "Why wont you admit your feelings?" He froze, his heart now full on racing. He blinked at her a few times and she looked back at him, taking a step closer. "I'm sorry?" He must have heard her wrong. He had to have misheard her. There was no way his feelings where so obvious. No way at all, especially not with how much care he put into not making them known. He looked straight at her again, she had a smug look on her face now.

"You heard me. Why won't you just tell me you like me. And don't deny it because I know you do." She crossed her arms over her chest and raised an eyebrow. He looked away, not wanting to see the look on her face. “I don’t where you got that idea from,” he shrugged. She gave him an annoyed look and shook her head. "Come on, it’s not like everyone else in our friend group knows. Why won't you just admit it? It's not like I'm mad about it!" She took a step closer to him and put her hand on his shoulder. "Please, Zuko." She gave him those big puppy dog eyes again, after all she just wanted the truth from him. She felt the same way, she just never told him because it would’ve been awkward if her suspicions had been wrong.

He sighed and ran a hand over his dripping hair. Was he really about to admit all his feelings that he had been bottling up for at least a year? Probably, after all she was begging him to be honest and unless she felt the same way, why would she be pressing so hard? So, he took a deep breath and then finally said it. "Yea, I like you (Y/N). I like you a lot. Happy now?" He went to look at her but was knocked to the ground, arms wrapped around his torso. He groaned and let his head fall into the soaked grass with a gentle thud, wrapping his arms around her with an unbelieving grin. "I like you too," she grinned and he let out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding.

"You give the best hugs." She said as she sat up, watching as he stood up and smoothing out his soaked jacket that he oh so adored. “I know, don't get used to them- Ow!" He huffed as she pinched his ankle before getting up herself to resume their driving. They definitely had a lot to tell their friends when they met up at the rest stop.

Honeymoon Morning

The deep rumble of his humming woke you up first, then his thumb massaging circles into your thigh. He was warm against you, and you wiggled closer to him with a sleepy sigh, head ducking into the crook of his neck. You didn’t know what time it was but you could hear the birds chirping outside, the salty air made you smile more. It reminded you of home. The room was still completely dark, the blackout curtains did what they were supposed to do, you were grateful for that much. “‘S too early,” you mumbled, earning a soft laugh.

“Morning, cariño,” he pulled you even closer and you wrapped a leg around him, grinning happily. He was your husband now, and you, his wife. “Good morning, Mr. Jimenez,” you mumbled into his chest. He chuckled, a deep rumble in the back of his throat that made your toes curl. “Good morning, Mrs. Jimenez.” You leaned your head back enough to look at him and you grinned even harder. You got to wake up like this every morning for the rest of your life. Nothing seemed better than that.

“Can we just lay here like this for a while?” You layed your head back on your pillow and pouted up at him. He smiled and let his hands roam your body. The intimacy of the moment made you melt in his hands. “I’d like nothing more.” You grinned again and craned your neck to kiss him, which he returned happily. You rested your hands on his bare chest and closed your eyes again, just imagining the two of you sitting on your porch in rocking chairs, drinking coffee and watching the plantation light up with the sun.

“Do you think we’ll be like this in forty, fifty years?” You tapped your finger on his sternum and he looked down at you with a curious look. “What do you mean?”

“Will we still be us, when we’re eighty?” You looked up at him, you’d never seen him so peaceful. “Yea, I think we will. I definitely know I’ll still roll my eyes when you tell dirty jokes.” He laughed and you did too, you knew that that was never going to end. His laughter always seemed to make the tips of your ears burn red, even more so when you knew he was laughing because of you.

“Oh, my love, I know you’ll be even more beautiful when your grey, your glow even brighter, and you’ll still light up my world.” He smiled again and pressed a kiss to your forehead.

“And you’ll be just as handsome as ever,” you smiled and kissed his nose quickly, just a peck. He smiled again, full of love, and he tucked a strand of hair out of your face. “And mischievous,” you kissed the corner of his mouth. “And romantic,” your hand dragged further down and he shivered. “And you’ll be all mine.” Your hand rested on his pelvis and you grinned again.

“Such a tease,” he grumbled, but he still had that adoring look on his face. “I’m sure that won’t change either.” You shook your head and smiled innocently. Your other hand came up to cup his cheek and he leaned into it. The band of your ring was cold against his skin and he smiled. The two of you layed in bed for a while, just basking in each other, the love you two had for each other. Thoughts of long walks on the beach, breakfast, and the days outing forgotten for just a while in the quiet of the bedroom

a/n: So I was watching LOK (as I have been for like years at this point) and I fell in love with a background character (again, as I have been for like years at this point) and Iroh II was said background character. What can I say? I love a man in uniform. This was originally posted on ao3 but I also wanted to post this on here!

She sighed and shook her head. Iroh was off commanding his soldiers again and it was on nights such as those that worried her. She knew her husband was a capable man, he was a general after all. But of course she still worried. How could she not? That was the man she loved and the father or her child. Ursa was sleeping soundly in her room, waiting for her fathers return. Herself and Ursa were his world, he was theirs and their family was about as close as a family could be. Worrying about him was only natural.

She sat at the table, hands cradling a cup of tea in her hands. It was late into the night and she was adamant on staying up until her husband returned. She had been since she’d heard about what happened in Republic City. Amon, The Equalists, the damage to the city, to the poor people who lived there… Tenzin had asked him and his army to help take back the city and face Amon, the leader of the Equalists. Iroh was happy to help. She bit her lip as her mind recited the news she’d gotten about her husband.

“General Iroh led his army into the city. It was quiet. None of the Equalists had greeted them. However, the General and his fleet were overwhelmed by a series of bombs and some sort of air crafts. General Iroh attacked from the helm of his ship, he managed to destroy several air crafts until he struck a bomb midair. He fell into the water. All we know is the Avatar Korra rescued him and that he was hurt. I’m very sorry, but we don’t have any more information at this moment.” She just looked out of the window into the gardens. She could see Ursa and her friends playing. She looked happy and she could only imagine her daughter had told her friends about the mission her father was on and how he’d be home in a few days and tell her all the “really cool parts” like he always had. She was six, she needed her father. He was coming home. He had to.

That had been days ago and she hadn’t heard a word about it since. She’d been staying up, hoping to get word about her husband but none came. Ursa had sensed her mother’s worry and had started sleeping in her parents room. She had gotten her daughter to sleep in her room for the first time in days and part of her was proud of herself. Ursa was never as well behaved with her as she was her father. She was definitely a daddy’s girl. She looked up from the cup as she heard the sound of little feet slapping against the marble floors. She set her cup down when Ursa came barreling towards her.

“Mommy! Mommy!” Ursa squealed, jumping into her mother’s arms. “Darling, what happened? Are you alright?” She ran a hand over her daughters hair and up and down her back in hopes of soothing her. Ursa sniffled and nuzzled her face into her mother’s robe. “I had a nightmare,” she mumbled. “You were crying and daddy wasn’t coming home and I was all alone!” She hiccuped and sniffled and her mother cupped her small face in her hands.

“Darling, it was only a dream,” she cooed. “Daddy will be back soon, and when he does get back he’ll give you a great big hug and he’ll tell you all about his trip. Ok?” Ursa leaned into her mother’s touch and she wiped away her tears with her thumbs. “But what if he doesn’t come back?” The child’s bottom lip trembled. “Oh honey, he’ll come back. He always does.” He had to. Ursa nodded again and wiped face with her nightgown sleeve. Her long black hair had been unbraided, probably her own doing. Iroh had always done it when he was there, (Y/N) could never get it right.

“Mommy?” Ursa looked back up at her mother and hugged her. “Can you sing daddy’s song he always sings when he goes away?” She smiled at her and nodded, cradling her child her arms. She hummed softly and Ursa curled into her mother’s embrace. “Remember me, though I have to say goodbye. Remember me, don't let it make you cry. For even if I'm far away I’ll hold you in my heart. I’ll sing a secret song to you, each night we are apart.” She rocked her child in her arms and watched as her eyes drifted shut. Still, she kept singing. She didn’t know if it was for herself or her daughter. She just knew it was comforting. Ursa was tired and she was glad for that. There wouldn’t be any arguments about bed time. She didn’t think she could handle one.

“Remember me, though I have to travel far. Remember me, each time you hear a sad guitar. Know that I'm with you the only way that I can be. Until you're in my arms again, remember me…” Ursa had been lulled to sleep at some point through the song and she smiled. She didn’t want to risk waking her up so she just sat there with her. She continued with her humming. It comforted her, imagining her husband were singing along with her. They often sang Ursa lullabies together before she went to bed, and if it wasn’t a lullaby is was a bedtime story. Ursa loved them and sometimes it was hard to say no when she asked for another.

She didn’t know how much time had passed but after a good long while she heard the sound of footsteps, ones she knew better than anyone. She stopped humming and looked at her dear Iroh as he stepped into the room with a bouquet of fire lilies in hand. She wondered how long it had actually been, it still pitch black outside. What flower shop was open at that time of night? He was about to say something but she quickly held a finger to her lips and looked quickly down at the sleeping child in her arms. He nodded and set the flowers down before lightly walking over and gently picking Ursa up. He smiled at her, full of love, and stood up fully. She stirred in his arms and opened her eyes just enough to see him.

“Daddy?” She yawned and and stretched her little arms. “I’m here, sweetie.” He said softly. “Now I think it’s time for bed.” She nodded and nuzzled her face into the crook of his arm as he took her to her room. His footsteps faded and she stood up, letting out a deep breath. She looked at the lilies and took the vase off of the table and began filling it with water. She felt the need to busy herself to ignore the lump growing in her throat.

“(Y/N), Darling,” Iroh called gently as he stepped back into the room. He’d discarded his jacket in their room before he came back and he looked more dressed down. She looked over at him and placed the lilies in the vase. She placed them on the table, as she did she felt his eyes on her. When she looked back at him he was smiling. She couldn’t hold it in anymore. The relief crashed over her and her bottom lip trembled. He saw her tearful expression and quickly enveloped her in his embrace. “Darling, what’s wrong?” He knew what was wrong, he wasn’t stupid. He just wanted to give her the chance to tell him on her own.

She clung to him, as if he’d just disappear if she didn’t. She took a deep breath, the scent of his cologne filled her senses. He was home. “I was so worried!” She closed her eyes and he pulled her closer. “We had no idea what had happened to you! I had no idea if you would come back to us!” A sob wracked over her and she gripped his shirt. “I just didn’t know what to do. How could I even tell Ursa her father-“ she cut herself off with a whimper.

“I’m here, love. I’m here.” He kissed her temple and pulled away from her, placing his hand on her cheeks. She looked at him and nodded. He was home, he was safe. He peppered light kisses all over her face and wiped away her tears. “I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’d never put you through that intentionally.” She nodded and hugged him again. “I know, my love. Don’t apologize. I’m just happy you’re finally home.” He nodded and rested his chin on her head and just stood there. She was still crying, he could tell by her soft shaking and sniffling. They stood there for a while, just holding each other. She needed, and so did he.

The fear of not seeing his family again has always been in the back of his mind whenever he went out. It used to not be like that, before her and Ursa. But now that he had them both, coming home was more important than ever. He couldn’t fathom not being able to put Ursa down for bed or walk with his wife in the garden or play with Ursa or hug the love of his life. He could only imagine how his wife must’ve felt.

“Let’s go to bed, please,” She mumbled into his chest. “I’m tired and I don’t think I can bare to sleep alone one more night.” He nodded, smiling softly as he walked her to their room. She glanced at his jacket, he’d placed it over the chair against the wall. She took off her robe and placed it over the jacket and slid into bed. He lied down beside her after a moment and she just looked at him for a good while. He looked back at her and smiled again. He kept I picture of her with him wherever he went. He always looked at it during stressful time but being able to see her in person was far better. He wrapped an arm around her and she curled into him, he was warm against the cold mattress.

pairing: Wei Beifong x f!reader

summery: You and Wei only just became a couple a few months ago but one night in Republic City changed that for the better.

You grinned and clinked glasses with him, downing the contents seconds later. It burned the back of your throat and you pinched up your face for a moment, Wei laughed. It was boisterous and you could tell he’d had one shot too many. But the night was till young and the Krew had invited you, Wing, and Wei out for a night on the town while the three were visiting Republic City.

It had been a few years since you’d been home and in all honesty you missed it. The parks, the shopping, the bars, the people even. But after Kuvira and Baatar Jr had been arrested and you’d saved the day, you were tired. King Wu was relatively safe, Bolin was working with Mako under Lin, Mako was still a cop of course, Asami was still working on her inventions, and Korra was off doing Avatar stuff. Everything was ok, except you had no idea what you were going to do. You no longer had the responsibility of keeping your friends in line, they could take care of themselves and you finally had time to kick back and relax… but you didn’t want to. You carved action and not putting your earth or metal bending to good use made you ill. But you also wanted to be close to the ones you loved.

So, you decided you ultimately wanted both. And you also wanted to be closer to the family you’d begun to call your own. Suyin and Baatar Sr had really made you feel at home the last time you’d been to Zaofu and you being able to metal bend made you start thinking genuinely about staying in Zaofu in a more long term situation. You’d already been living with them in the three years Korra had gone off to the South Pole. It was tense back then and you could only imagine what it was like after the whole Kuvira thing. However your two best friends, Wing and Wei, assured you everything was “just peachy”.

You thought on if for months and ultimately chose to go, of course your friends understand and wrote to you constantly. You’d made your life there, living in your own small home with your own Crococat, you treated it as if it were your child and your friends found it only mildly strange. You were close to the Beifong family more than anyone else. That’s how you and Wei eventually started dating. But all that had been three of so years ago, you didn’t keep track after a while. So when the twins said they needed to go to Republic city for business on behalf of Suyin you promptly started packing.

Wei grinned at you again and ordered two more shots, not bothering to say anything about Wing trying his best to pick up some girl on the other end of the bar. The rest of the Krew had went to another bar, though you and Wei hadn’t noticed. You were too caught up being all couple-y and “giving wing the oogies” to even care.

“Another?” You smirked at him and he shrugged. “Why not? And then we can dance!” He animatedly waved his hand to the center of the room. Some people had created a make shift dance floor and you smiled. It was cute seeing Wei so excited over something like that, so you gave in. “Fine, but only for a little while! I’m not good at dancing!” You giggled and the bartender set down the shots. Wei grabbed one and you grabbed the other, he downed his first, then looked at you expectantly.

“You’re lucky I love you,” you grinned and knocked it back. It made you shiver and you made the same face as before. He laughed again and grabbed your hand. He never liked wasting a moment that could be spent having fun, you learned. You really loved that about him, even if I did sometimes get on your nerves. But still, you never wanted it to change. “Oh, I know I’m lucky all right.” You smiled at him and let him lead you over to the dance floor. It was a good time and you were pretty sure you guys danced till your legs were about to fall off. You laughed and sang along to the music, even though it was horribly off key.

Wei couldn’t take his eyes off of you, you’d only been dating a few months and maybe you guys were still in that phase but he didn’t really care. So as you pulled him alone the streets of the city he couldn’t help but let the words slip out. “Hey, (y/n)?” You looked back at him and squeezed his hand. “Yea?” He pulled you closer to him and wrapped his arms around you. You giggled and grinned the front of his shirt. “I think I wanna marry you,” he grinned. He was being dead serious but you couldn’t tell so you just looked up at him and laughed. “What?” He pouted.

“Wei we’ve only been together like three months!” You gave him one of those “I’m very very serious” looks but you couldn’t keep it up for more than a few seconds before you grinned again. You loved him with your whole heart be sometimes he was a little to excited to do things spur of the moment.

“Come on baby, it’s a beautiful night! Who cares if it’s only been a few months? We’ve known each other for years! I’ll even get a ring tonight!” He grinned at you, leaning in closer. “Just say yea, because I really wanna marry you (y/n).” Your face broke into a grin. What was the worst that could happen? After all, you loved him and he certainly loved you. So messing with his shirt for a moment, still mulling it over. You guys had had a few drinks and maybe you were a little buzzed but like he said, who cared?

“I know where a jewelry shop is,” you grabbed his hand and giggled as you broke into a run down the empty street. “Is that a yes?” He grinned at you and you nodded, heels clicking as you picked up your pace. “Yes, Wei! That’s a yes!” You pulled him along and he let out a very loud “woohoo!” A few people in the various shops looked out of their windows to see what the commotion was about. Spirits, you loved him.

Your hair flew behind you and you two raced down the streets, his feet were pounding down on the stone ground and his heart in his chest. You looked absolutely beautiful, even with your flushed face and messy hair. He couldn’t tell if he’d always felt that way about you or if he’d been stuffing the feelings deep down. But when he finally asked you out he played it cool, still stuffing down those feelings because he really didn’t want to be that boyfriend. He wasn’t quite sure what it was, the look in her eyes, the drinks, but whatever it was made him want to just let it all out.

You slowed down and smiled at him before coming to a full stop in front of a lit up shop. It had a big gold diamond on it with Lee Jewelers just above it on the window. You both looked inside, it was empty. “Ready?” You nodded with a giddy grin and he kissed you cheek. You you grinned up at him again and he opened the door for you. “Why thank you, kind sir,” you giggled at him and walked inside. He followed after you and you made your way over to the jewelry counter. “Hey!” A store clerk smiled at them as they came up. “Can I help you two?”

“Yea, were looking to buy two engagement rings,” you smiled at the man and he nodded. You followed him to the far left side of the counter and he pointed to e huge diamond ring sitting proudly on a faux finger. You pursed your lips as you looked at it, not that impressed. “Well we’ve got a few lovely sets-“ he droned on and on about a few of the rings, none of them really caught your eye though. They were either too big or too flashy. You didn’t want big or flashy, you wanted simple, but to be fair Wie could have blended a piece of scrap metal then and there and you’d have loved it, as long as you were marrying him.

Your eyes wandered to the other side of the counter out of sheer boredom. You weren’t sure if you would have found the ring for you if you hadn’t have because the ring Thad had caught your eye was sitting in the corner of the display. “I like this one,” you tugged Wei over and he looked at it with you. It was a small circle cut diamond set on a simple silver band. The clerk smiled. “Yes, it’s very simple, though. Maybe you’d like to take a look at the others?” You shook your head. “No, I don’t think those are right for me.”

“Is there another silver band that would go with it?” Wei looked up at the man and he nodded, pointing another one out. “Would you like to see them up close?” You both nodded and smiled. “Yes please,” you looked at Wei and he squeezed your hand. The clerk nodded and crouched down to unlock the cabinet. He stood back up after a moment and placed them both on the counter.

You picked one up and showed it to Wei, who nodded approvingly. You set it back down and looked at the other one just as closely. It was a simple silver band with a small diamond fit snugly in the center. It was barely noticeable but was also I smaller version of the other circle cut diamond. Wei seemed to like it and nodded again. “We’ll take them both.” He smiled at the man and you took his wallet from your bag. “How much?”

“30,000 yuans,” the man smiled at you two and Wei started counting. You looked at him incredulously. You knew he was well off but you didn’t think he’d just shell out that kind of money. And he never really did, at least not in front of you. After all, it didn’t impress you like it did other girls, spirits, even guys. But he put the money on the counter and the man counted it for himself. He looked down at you. “You’re sure you want that one?” You nodded again and he nodded.

You watched, quietly, still not quite believing it was all happening. After all you’d had a few shots, though not enough to not know what was going on, you both had and maybe that was why Wei had so easily pulled out the money. But before you could think you and Wei were heading out of the shop and up the street and into a random bar to ask for directions.

Wei knocked on the bar and got the bar tenders attention. She smiled at him and grabbed her notepad. “What can I get ya, hun?” He smiled at her, he’d been smiling to much you thought his face would fall off. “Hey ma’am, do you know where the closest chapel is?” He wrapped an arm around you and she furrowed her brow in thought. “I’m pretty sure there’s one near the park! Go down this road, take the first left and then a right. Fifth building on the right.” She smiled at you. “And good luck you two, congratulations!” She seemed in a hurry to get back to her customers and you couldn’t blame her. It was a bust night and all the bars were crowded, especially that one.

“Thank you!” You waved to her and the two of you walked out. The night was warm and you took a deep breath, smelling the air. “It’s really nice out, tonight.” You looked up at him and he wrapped an arm around you, nodding. “A perfect night for a wedding,” you nestled into him and he nodded, grinning from ear to ear.

“I can’t wait for you to be Mrs. (y/n) Beifong,” you could just see the love in his eyes when he said it. Sure, it had only been three months but he had been having that thought in the back of his mind for years. He’d been pining after you since you’d first visited Zaofu, Wing had been teasing him for years about it but somehow you never noticed.

You yourself liked him for a while, too. You’d never really said anything about it though. He had has his own issues to deal with. After all Baatar Jr and Kuvira were living under the same roof as him, that in itself seemed to be stressful. He never talked about that part of his home life, though. Instead he would talk about how much he enjoyed spending time with his mom again or how him and Wing had come up with a new way to train, or even just small talk about the weather or how pretty the sky looked. That’s what made you fall in love with him, his love for the simple things.

“I can’t either,” you hummed. “And I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” He chuckled and leaned down to kiss her temple. She smiled, leaning into him. “But I’m pretty sure your mom is going to kill us when she finds out.” He just shrugged, so nonchalantly that you were almost a little concerned. “She’ll get over it, besides she doesn’t have to know if we don’t want her to.”

“Really?” You raised a brow be he didn’t say anything, he just smiled at you and turned the corner. You sighed with a smiled and looked around. “It’s been so long since I’ve been back. A lot has changed.” You nodded to one of the shops. “That one right there used to sell clothes. Now it’s a barber shop.” He nodded. “I’ve never been to Republic City and actually got to explore, but it’s nice to be able to now.”

“It was my home for so long, it’s just weird to see it so different.” You shrugged and looked around some more. You weren’t familiar with this part of the city, but you still knew were your old favorite spots had been. “But I’m glad you’re able to experience it, even if it’s just for a while.”

“Oh, I’m sure we’ll be back more often. I actually like it here, and I get to see Aunt Lin.” You nodded and smiled. “Besides, I know you miss it here. I wouldn’t want you to feel like you have to pick a home.” His expression was soft and you shook your head.

“Wei, I love living in Zaofu and I loved living in Republic City but neither are my home anymore.” He raised a brow and you continued. “You’re my home, silly,” you poked his chest and he laughed.

“(y/n/n), I love you but sometimes you’re a little too cheesy,” he grinned at you and you scoffed. “Me? Too cheesy? Never!” You have him the best offended look you could muster but he just laughed again. It was as boisterous as even and you couldn’t help but laugh along with him. Your pace has slowed down, you just enjoyed being with him so neither of you noticed until the glow from the chapel lights lit up the street corner and how long it was taking to get to them.

“Come on, we’ve got a wedding to get to!” You grinned at him and pulled him along. He grinned and picked up his pace and speed walked along side you. After that it was kind of a blur, the signing of papers, the this and that for the in house photographer, and whatever else but the one thing you’d never forget were the vows.

“I love you (y/n), more than anything. You’re my world, my universe, spirits my everything. You’re on my mind from the time I wake up to when I go to bed, you make me happier than I have been in a long time. I always knew from the moment I met you I knew I wanted to show you all the finer things in life, even if it took forever to convince you to let me, and belive me I’m so glad you did.” He looked you in the eye and you swore you could see year tears forming but he never let them fall. “The thought of you not being around scares me more than anything. You make me want to be better and without you I’m not sure where I’d be right now. So when I say I love you, I mean it in every way possible.”

You smiled at him and blinked your tears away. “Wei, you’ve changed my life in so many ways in such a short amount of time. Before you I didn’t think I could love anyone the way I love you. I never thought I’d be pouring my heart out to anyone but here we are. You’re my rock, you’ve never not been supportive of me either, even when I wasn’t exactly right in whatever I was roped into. I know we’ll forever be in love, and forever will never be long enough for me to feel like I’ve had long enough with you. I want to be with you till the end, whenever that may be. I promise you, I’ll love you till forever ends.” He wiped the tears running down your face with his thumb and he kissed you. His hands cupped your face and yours did the same.

He pressed his forehead to yours and he laughed. “My wife is so beautiful.” You smiled back at him and cupped his face again. “My husband is so handsome.” He smiled at that. You married him, and spirits were you both happy about it.
