watermech where neither of them think they're very attractive

herm is pretty insecure about his face. his appearance has been made fun of in the past, especially his big nose and gray eyes, so he doesn't have much confidence in it and doesn't think anyone would find him attractive.

robert doesn't really care for his appearance that much. it's not really that he's insecure, he just isn't that focused on the way he looks. he's been told he's a very average looking guy, and he doesn't really see anything special about his face.

then they get together, and are both shocked that the other doesn't realize how attractive they are.

robert doesn't understand how herm could be insecure at all, he could probably be a model if he wanted to. and herm doesn't get how robert could be considered "average." he's the most attractive person herm has ever seen!

Falling back into this fandom again. Was reading a WaterMech fic and had to draw this scene.

It's called, "Wet and Nervous" - (Tagged the fic to the title there). Time-lapse is on my tiktok, too.

When Robert's depression gets bad, he can't get up off the floor. He just curls up there and stares into middle space until he falls asleep. And when he wakes up, he does it all over again.

He feels guilty the whole time. Like he's a burden. Like he's weak. Because he can't do anything. He can't even move. All he can do is lay there and stare and cry.

So imagine how bad he felt when Herm came over to check on him. How bad he felt when he chatted to him and placed a bowl of food down next to him. Poured him a glass of water and updated him on Beefs weekend away with Chase. How he had gotten fatter on pork chops and picked out a new toy from the local store.

Imagine how had he felt when he sobbed silently and fell asleep as his untouched and full glass and bowl were taken away. Washing up done and kitchen cleaned.

Imagine how overwhelmed he felt when he woke up...and there was a pillow under his head. A towel thrown over his body. Another on the floor behind him and an arm slung over his waist. Herm fast asleep on the floor with him. Just holding him loosely. Being there.

Weight and wetness.

Pulling him back in. Making him feel not like a burden, but like a person. A person who was struggling, who was scared...who was loved.

And he sobbed again.

But this time so loud he woke Herm up with a sleepy mumble.

And he just pulled him closer and loved him more.
