Neko to Ryuu The Cat and the Dragon
      In a world that feels increasingly violent and ugly, this anime does me so much good.
      This episode was particularly beautiful. The way it approaches nature touched me deeply. There's such tenderness in this series, and such a quiet sincerity in the way it portrays the relationship between humans, animals and the world around them.
      It's becoming one of those rare anime I simply feel grateful to have found.

the "humans are naturally greedy" argument is one of capitalism's oldest myths. if humans were naturally greedy above all else, our species would have died out long ago. humanity survived because people shared food, cared for one another, and worked together. cooperation built societies, greed built fortunes. don't confuse the values of capitalism with the nature of humanity.
Been obsessed with The Cat and the Dragon so much that I decided to read the manga to see what the rest of the series is like, and HOLY HELL, the worldbuilding and characters are so packed and detailed!
To list a few examples (and to not spoil them), one chapter involves an elaborate play starring cats, another stars a retired general and his cat partner who is a seasoned veteran that wields a spear with his tail, and there are two chapters revolving around the various wildlifes and monsters that make up the ecosystems of the forest and a lake!
If you like fantasy, PLEASE check out The Cat and the Dragon, whether in manga or anime!
The next time you want to call a sequence âWell animatedâ do yourself a favour and rewatch it with the sound muted. Often times irâs only after you remove sound from something that you can truly see if the animation underneath is actually good or not, or if the music/acting is manipulating you.
âŚ.but on that same note, âWell animatedâ does not mean âFluidly animatedâ. Because something can be VERY well animated and have few frames if those frames are in the right place, or have a shit ton for frames and be badly animated because itâs over-animated and moves way too much.
The animation is kinda choppy, but its still likeable.

You know that whatever character did those problematic things isn't like. Real, right?
You are aware that a fictional character is just a rhetorical construct designed to fulfill a narrative/thematic purpose right? That their actions are written by an author who wants to use them to explore complex ideas and moral gray areas within the safe confines of fiction right? That they aren't a real person who has killed real people right?
