just from the short preview, I must say — Kipuka’s acting is absolutely superb. through his eyes alone, he masterfully conveys the pain and helplessness Shaoyou is feeling. it mustn't be easy to act as a pregnant man, especially since he naturally doesn’t know the instinctive feeling of having life growing inside him. a role like this could easily come off as awkward or unnatural, yet actor Qiu portrays the experience of pregnancy with such realism and restraint.

the way he expresses the kind of abdominal pain that’s unique to pregnancy feels so real — it’s truly amazing. Shaoyou is an S-class alpha who wasn’t born with a womb like omegas, but after the permanent marking, a gestational sac forms within him. still, because his body wasn’t biologically or physiologically designed to carry a fetus, the sac wall is thin and easily ruptures when Peanut moves too much. it must be unbearably painful for Shaoyou, and Kipuka conveys that agony and fragility so convincingly. I’m genuinely in awe.

the moment where he quietly turns to Hua Yong for comfort and reassurance — that small act of seeking his mate when he’s feeling most helpless and unfamiliar with what’s happening to his body — it’s so powerful. Shaoyou can only show this kind of vulnerability to Hua Yong, and that makes it such a pivotal moment for both of them.

it’s also the first time Hua Yong truly faces the fear of losing Shaoyou, and comes to understand how life-threatening childbirth can be. and without a second thought, he’s ready to follow Shaoyou into the afterlife when Shaoyou is on the verge of death from massive blood loss.
