Let me put everything in order so it's easier to understand.
Aegon iii and Viserys ii were doing this irrelevant and totally unimportant thing called "maintaining peace" after a brutal and devastating war where hundreds of thousands had already died. They also possessed this thing called common sense where they realized their very existence and survival ensured no one can forget Rhaenyra Targaryen.
Unless GRRM shared an AU story where he told you Jace was gonna be Jaehaerys 2.0, you can't gaurentee shite. Also, the guy who came up with the ridiculous "dragonseeds" plan which later ended up screwing his mother over is hardly the guy I'd call "infinitely better".
If you don't understand how monarchy works, just ask. I'll put it this way. Even today, you cannot be considered for succession if you were born out of wedlock. If you aren't trueborn (as in biologically related and born to an officially married couple), you are never going to be even considered a candidate for the Throne. Also, you cannot "legitimize" kids into families they aren't biologically related to. Laenor could only "adopt" them and guess what? Even today, the adoption still would not make them eligible for the Throne. It's not enough to just be born to Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra has to be officially married to the man who gave 50% DNA to her kids. Otherwise, they could be Aegon the conqueror + Jaehaerys combined come again, they are still entitled to nothing.
Idk man, something tells me Rhaenyra's dream baby would have been the one she had with the man she always wanted to marry. Last I checked, it wasn't Laenor or Harwin. And you are totally right it doesn't make any sense that their first children are named that way in the first place because they don't understand that the names of these children were put by corlys to "reaffirm " ( i call it fooling himself) that they are Velaryon, they are so obsessed with these children that they don't understand that these children are a danger to the existence of house targaryen itself, Perhaps these people see them as a sign of "change" since they do not have the physical characteristics of the Targaryens (they project themselves and want a dragon to feel powerful), and that because of them, Westeros would be a kingdom of love, peace and legitimized bastards. I know this is a controversial opinion...but rereading fire and blood...I don't know what to think of Rhaenyra as a mother regarding her younger sons 😅...I am very bothered by the lack of impact of Viserys's "death", when, in the other hand, her feeling for the loss of her other children is shown...or that she does not speak with affectionate words about Aegon or Viserys when she does about her other children, with the well-known "my sweet boys" I don't know... Sometimes I feel while reading the time we are told of Aegon being closer to his mother that he cared for her more than she cared for him, and believe me, I don't like having these ideas 😂 I was happier when I didn't realize these things. I also think that a large part of it is because it is not George's best book and that he sometimes fails to capture the emotions.

Aegon and Viserys are never mentioned in anything related to their parents...And I find it very strange, they are the children of many people's supposed favorite couple, but they are also much more, in many ways more complex characters than their parents and with their own story.
