A little while ago I posted a tattoo I drew for one of my best. Here is the finished ink and flesh version! I love it. It looks way better as a tattoo than it did on paper.
Made this portrait of our dog, Charley, and had vinyl stickers printed for Jonas’ snowmobile helmet. I swear I know how to draw things that aren’t dogs! I just keep drawing dogs lately!
Made this portrait of someone's dogs as a commission recently. This person has several dogs. I think Lily is probably the evil one.
A dear old friend is going to have this tattooed on his arm. I'm so honoured!
A friend recently asked me to draw this little lady for his partner. She invented the character as part of a series of kids' books she's been working on, and he wanted her to see "Martha" in living colour. He animated my drawing and sent it to her as an anniversary gift. (haha I just got that... GIF-t!)
An illustration about the emphasis on Nuclear development rather than conservation initiatives for This Magazine.
I made this poster for Toronto's Long Winter concert series. I'm really happy with it! It's one of many recent projects that called for black and white only, which I found more difficult than I was expecting. I'm so used to relying on colour to help differentiate shapes, since I pretty much never do shading. Also maybe the first time I've done anything in comic-book format. Found it really enjoyable. Thanks to my dear friend Colin for requesting this and leaving the slate totally open.
I was honoured to be asked to contribute a drawing for Akin Collective's Colouring Book project. This was my submission. It's our little home recording studio - I was totally fascinated by the extreme mess of cables and wires that were necessary to make the temporary control room work during a recent recording stint.
Recently got to create this crest design for The Grove, a resto in Toronto. This will be silkscreened onto some swag for them. It was super fun to make. It's based on elements from actual coats of arms and medieval drawings of wild boars. Thanks to my pal Nicole Tarasick for art direction/collab.
Painted this portrait of my friend Drea on a basketball backboard for her new loft.
Here's a photo of the finished painting (see earlier post below) in its frame, just before it hit the auction. I'm told it was one of the biggest sellers at the event, and I feel very tickled by that.
Just finished a new painting for the Christie Lake Kids fundraising gala silent auction. I've been so obsessed with my new puppy lately that I truly couldn't imagine drawing anything else. Not to mention that as the weather gets colder, our house is beginning to resemble a mouse hostel. It's not my dog but it is inspired by her. I'll post a photo of the finished piece soon. Meanwhile, here's the quick mockup I did in Photoshop to help pick a colour scheme.
Got these babies in their frames and looking swell! Still can't decide where to hang them....
Was going through old files today and re-discovered these sketches. They eventually turned into a poster which, sadly, was never published. I think I like these concept sketches even more than the finished product.
Just finished this poster for Evening Hymns who are doing some Canadian shows this fall. As you can see I adapted the storm clouds for my new website header!
Valentine's day concepts. Based on Greek urns and half-human love.
