DAWSON’S CREEK 3.22 | The Anti-Prom
this chapter of my life is called:
knowing my worth and acting accordingly.
“Don’t just learn, experience. Don’t just read, absorb. Don’t just change, transform. Don’t just relate, advocate. Don’t just promise, prove. Don’t just criticize, encourage. Don’t just think, ponder. Don’t just take, give. Don’t just see, feel. Don’t just dream, do. Don’t just hear, listen. Don’t just talk, act. Don’t just tell, show. Don’t just exist, live.”
— Roy T. Bennett, The Light in the Heart
“We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others.”
— John Lennon
it's so important to understand that sometimes you can love someone dearly and still let them go because that's what you need. you can love someone and yet that someone can be entirely unhealthy for you, which doesn't make them a bad person, it just means you're not good for each other. if you feel like you need to let someone go and you're torturing yourself because you love them and you don't want them to hurt, prioritize yourself and acknowledge the fact that you can't love someone if there's no "you" left. you take care of you and let others take care of themselves, you can't save everyone all the time; but you can try to save yourself. remember: you can love someone and still decide to let them go.
