Listen I think Squancy deserves more love and I’m genuinely shocked it’s as rare as it is, likely because most people haven’t read their comics, but I’ve been on the MKmission train and I’ve gotta keep trucking on principle. Squancy ily, but as it was just Halloween and is almost the two year anniversary of the first House of Shadows/Marc thing I ever posted, I gotta keep campaigning for them.

So today I give you, Marc bringing the Mission back to life as one of the rare beings and friends he has ever been able to save, and introducing it to his daughter.

He wants them to be friends… he wants them to be family… the Mission is once again able to break the molds of relationships Marc has been tethered to and driven to guilt by in the past and is able to come back to him. It’s able to be brought back and meet more of those he loves the most.

“Mission… I’ve missed you.”

Friends or lovers or something between, there’s just so much care here. So much love and recognition and acceptance. The Mission matters to Marc so dearly and he matters to the Mission.

May every Haunted House this year find someone similarly loving to fill their empty halls 💞 🏠 👻

Midnight Missionaries I call on you once again!

Platonic or romantic, monster house loving or just monster house bffs, MidKnightMission is a super fun niche relationship that I will never not love deeply.

Moon Knight is a system of characters who all have dealt with abandonment and violence, who have all felt ostracized and like they can’t trust themselves to fully have a good life, even if they want to. The House of Shadows is an inter dimensional creature that only knew how to crawl back to the physical plane and eat people. Marc opened his hand to the Mission and the Mission opened its… Mouth to him to live in, and they’ve become almost inseparable since.

As I’ve already talked about ad nauseam, their intimacy and closeness means a lot to me. The way beings can connect across physicality, and the way the House was brought back from being such a forgotten character to being loved by Marc and co and so many readers alike… it’s just really wonderful.

In all its history, in all the times it’s come to earth, Marc is the only one who’s shown the Mission compassion and care. For it as a being. For it beyond the veil of unknowable monster. And the Mission in turn doesn’t care what sordid history the MK system has. It doesn’t care about human social norms, it just cares about them.
