Зодиак - Зодиак (1980) (HQ - Хорошее качество)
I'm in the Russian part of youtube electronic music. This one sounded amazing.
Real Life - Catch Me I'm Falling
This song gets my vote the spot of catchiest song of the 80's. Their main hit song "Send Me an Angel" is just as good, but that one seems to be much more well known. Gotta love the keyboard player blasting away with that Roland Jupiter 8
Jean Michel Jarre - Equinoxe IV
Another great pioneer for electronic music. I've known about him for awhile now, but I just found the original music video today.
Book of Love - Boy
I cam across this song while playing the New Wave playlist on the facebook game called SongPop.
Chromeo - Don't Turn the Lights On
Just recently stumbled across these guys. They definitely have some heavy 80's influences.
Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark - Messages
OMD is another one of my all time favorite synthpop bands. This song along with Enola Gay, and Telegraph are incredible.
Modern Talking - Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)
I get far too much enjoyment out of watching cheesy 80's music videos. Got to love those pink pants and the late 80's mom style windbreaker jacket the other guy is wearing. Aside from all that, this is still a catchy song.
Jean-Michel Gascuel - Le Chien Aux Yeux Jaunes
This song randomly came on some 80's internet radio station I was listening to while trying to fall asleep. Loved it the first time I heard it.
Sigue Sigue Sputnik - Love Missile F1-11
If it wasn't for GTA: Vice City, I probably never would have found this gem. Anyone else notice the "A Clockwork Orange" sample at the start of the song?
Gershon Kingsley - Hey Hey
This guy is best known for writing the "Popcorn" song, but this one is just as impressive. This reminds me of a horror/sci-fi movie from the 50's
And One - Military Fashion Show
My cousin's wife showed me this song a few years ago. Been a favorite ever since.
Berlin - A Matter of Time
A very early song from Berlin. Reminds me of a space rock version of Blondie.
Camouflage - The Great Commandment
Stumbled across this on youtube the other day. Even if they copied Depeche Mode's sound, this is still a great song.
Performance - The Living
I have great memories of listening to Performance's debut CD while driving up I-95 to my art classes back in '08. This song comes from their second album called Red Brick Heart. They take the top spot on my list of modern bands that deserve much more recognition. If you want see more from them try searching for (We Are) Performance to get their debut album.
I was turned onto this band last week through a twitter friend. I almost immediately heard the influence by songs like Turning Japanese and Kung Fu Fighting. Maybe even a little bit of "Numb" by Linkin Park. I'm looking forward to listening to some of their other stuff in the near future.
Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)
This synthpop influenced indie song is my favorite from Arcade Fire (Intervention is a close 2nd). Be warned, this song is very catchy and it will be with you days if not weeks after first hearing it.
The Alan Parson's Project - Mammagamma
Here's an amazing instrumental song which was played almost entirely by a Fairlight CMI. I remember this albums being one of the first CDs that my family got when I a kid in the mid 90's. The first song on the CD called "Sirius" is well known as being the intro music of the Chicago Bulls during the Michael Jordan era, but I always felt that Mammagamma was a much better song.
