Copper rot (Xylaria electrophaga) is a newly described fungus that, through yet unknown means, appears to obtain energy directly from electricity.

The adaptation, believed to have recently evolved from a wood-boring mushroom that fed on utility poles, lets this species enter cables through exposed metal, then grow outwards. This not only damages infrastructure, but often ends in a fire, which it uses to disperse its spores further. If encountering copper rot, it is not advised to touch it, as its white tips can conduct enough energy to cause electrocutions.

I'm considering writing a story for r/nosleep because that's basically the only way to get your horror story recognized but I have some many fundamental issues with that subreddit and the beef makes me wanna not submit anything on principle. First person rule largely prevents the protagonist from dying which severely limits the ability to tell tragic endings, or stories where someone couldn't plausibly write about it on reddit. Being unable to break kayfabe means discussion and analysis has to be moved somewhere else. It's so fucking stupid, why is this the way horror creators hit it big online?

Apparently they have banned the method i was planning to use (archival found footage) To get around the first person rule. Fuck my life

They change the rules occasionally. I'm guessing that left-right game was allowed at the time. There's similar cases where stories like Tommy Taffy were allowed once but it's too explicit for the current rules.

Honestly the way they phrase the current rules reminds me of that horror zine people were dunking on a year or so ago lol, they're so annoyingly limiting

The mods want to read one specific kind of story and have kneecapped the ability to create interesting stories in order to do so. Pisses me off

Tales from the creeps doesn't have these stupid rules, so my project has moved there
