Why the terms “sysmed/sysmedicalist” and “traumascum” are bad.

Written by a very angry alter.

So, the words “sysmed” and “traumascum”, we all know what they’re supposed to be related to; “transmed” and “truscum” — some endos/endo supporters use these words to describe other people who don’t support endos, I myself have been called a sysmedicalist more than once.

Comparing trauma survives to transphobes isn’t cute, funny, quirky or respectable. I have met endos who have lost faith in community members who use these words, because the disrespect that you throw to people who survived repetitive childhood trauma is disgusting. Absolutely fucking rancid.

If you want less people to be anti-endo, you have to understand that you aren’t going to get it by calling people “sysmedicalists”, did you genuinely think that would work? That it wouldn’t domino effect into something bigger than it had to be?

The terms sysmed and traumascum need to stop, completely. Don’t let the endo community make itself toxic.

Hey, my names Abner and I’m fucking pissed off. Two of our past abusers are still existing and haven’t been entirely shunned off the site and having to see them causes me actual stress.

Their usernames on tumblr are C/acy/11 and fire//tail//cat (without the slashes, obviously), so watch out for them. Throughout this post I’ll call them C and F respectively

So, for context, our body is a minor (16-17) and this takes place about 2-3 years ago. At the time our two abusers were 15-16 and 18-19 respectively (ages are fuzzy, sorry)

The trouble us, you or someone in your system said, "Endos have [insult] disease, and it's terminal because I will kill them for it."

That's not an okay thing to say, and you collectively need to apologise for it and take it back. It's not ab-se when people around you read things like that and become angry and hurt and offended; those angry reactions are self-defense on their part. The above is a literal death threat to Endogenic systems. It harms and frightens people. It harms and frightens members of our system, even though we have childhood trauma, because some of our alters are easily paranoid or have panic attacks. If you don't want to be called abusive, you ought to stop being abusive and consider apologizing for the times you have been (remembering saying you were going to kill all endos? I do!) and instead of being like "I have better arguments now" (As if a death threat counts as an argument!) say you're going to try to be a better person in the future. If you don't, then yes, you ARE abusive. Yes, even abuse survivors can be abusive themselves. All my abusers were survivors of it themselves. I don't give them a free pass, I'm not giving you one either. And younger people can definitely be abusive too. When I was about your age, my little sister who was nine years younger than me thought it was fun to intentionally trigger me and get me in trouble (which meant verbal, emotional, and physical abuse from my parents) for defending myself and trying to escape the trigger, which made the trigger she used against me even worse. She was old enough to know better, and you even more so.

So stop it, apologize, be better. Don't add to the abuse we all have dealt with. Don't justify it with "but I've been abused by your community too."

And I DO leave Tumblr for awhile when it's too much. I've turned off anon messages for now, much as I hate to do so, because I've received more than ten death threats/suicide baiting/abusive messages in my inbox just this year alone and the year isn't even half over yet.

But I still consider defending my community AND YOURS worth it. (Been defending yours on Twitter for the past week against misinformers and abusive people in the #nosoyunsistema tag.) We exist and have every right to do so peaceably and without being abused for doing so. And I'm going to defend systems of all types and origins for as long as I live. I'm protective by nature. I'm even named what I am because of it. I wouldn't be myself if I were or did otherwise.

And much as the abuse we receive hurts, being fully myself and doing what I know to be right is worth it all.
