Schizoaffective disorder is a mental disorder that combines psychotic and mood disorder symptoms. More specifically schizophrenia and bipolar or depression symptoms.
symptoms can include: hallucinations, delusions, paranoia, disorganized thoughts and speech, lack of empathy, flat affect, memory problems, periods of mania (which includes impulsivity, increased energy, etc) periods of depression (lack of motivation, feeling down most of the time, etc) and lack of motivation.
Just like schizophrenia/bipolar/depression this can cause struggles in school and home life.
For schizoaffective disorder to be considered you must have at least 2 weeks where you aren’t having a major mood episode but have psychotic symptoms.
Schizoaffective disorder is commonly comorbid with gad, ptsd, other anxiety disorders and in childhood onset cases specifically adhd
