Now we are getting to the fun part of the OT program! Labs!!!
Label that limb! One of the cool assignments I did for OT school. I enjoyed drawing this and coloring in the bones. During this pandemic it has been hard to attend school online via Zoom. OT is a hands-on profession so it has been difficult to grasp information and learn virtually. This assignment has helped make this crisis a little more bearable and therapeutic.
Happy OT Month!
Bc of the pandemic of the corona virus our program is facilitating the classes online. It has been a very tough transition especially because our profession is hands-on but as students we have been doing our best to adapt to this situation. It has not been easy and we are hoping this will all be over soon so we can go back to going to school and achieving a better learning experience.
So many of my classmates are going through some tough times in their lives! This has been a rough week for everyone. I hope this verse is encouraging for those that are feeling down.
Therapeutic painting in class!
This verse came up twice for me this week which means I gotta post it! ā„ļø God is with me every step of the way and I just gotta be confident that I can do this. My first exam is coming up and I am nervous about it because I usually donāt do well taking tests š¬. With this verse itās telling me not to be scared and that I will start strong!!
The Neuron! Iām sure everyone knows what this is! No matter what always learning about the neuron in science classes.
Matthew 11:28 NLT
Verse given to me for my second week of school. Thankfully we had Monday off because of Martin Luther King day which gave us plenty of REST. Today we did group presentations on parts of the brain. Our group focused on the occipital lobe. We had to make it engaging and interactive so we came up with a game that tests your depth perception and visual processing. In our OT theory class we learned about the recovery model and biopsychosocial model.
Letās just say all that drawing my client made me do as a behavioral therapist (old job) paid off!! I had an assignment for neuroscience class to copy this drawing from a video. I like the way it turned out! Iām not usually good at drawing and wouldnāt call myself an artist but here it is!
First day of school!
This is the verse Nolan gave me for my first day of OT school. Every week I am in grad school will be reading verses for encouragement to remind myself that I can do this! I am here for a reason and it is my calling.
So far Iāve had a great first day! I havenāt fallen asleep in any of my classes yet since thatās usually an issue for me during lectures and the classes are at a good length! Not too long, not too short. Just right! Also love that the content is interactive, visual, hands-on learning which I find are the best ways to understand the concept.
Orientation week has been fun and draining at the same time!
We started out with an Icebreaker game with the cohort and professors. The professors introduced themselves and gave us a background about their life and how they became OTs and how they got to where they are today. They loaded us with information about what to expect from us, other rules and regulations, and what we need to be prepared for when the upcoming semester starts!! Our cohort also got to go bowling for a bonding event and that was really fun and awesome! I enjoyed getting to know the cohort and hearing everyoneās awesome stories on how they became passionate about occupational therapy. I canāt wait for us to experience this program together and continue learning!
This man stir frying the veggies is the best thing that has happened in my life. He has helped me prepare for my journey for graduate school and I canāt thank him enough! He wanted to make sure I am comfortable with my new living situation as I have moved to a new state. He bought my groceries, got me new and good quality items for my new apartment, helped build my bed, made sure I was organized and not cluttered like I usually am, and cooked for me enough food to make sure I donāt starve. He will be giving me recipes for me to make to keep me healthy. I seriously donāt know what I would do without him. God is so good for putting this man in my life.
Iāll admit that I have the tendency to get easily influenced by other people. I am currently learning to put myself in the other personās shoes to see how I would feel in their situations instead of just hearing one side of the story. There is always two sides and two different perspectives to the scenario. It all depends on how we deal with these types of situations and what are the best ways to cope with these things.
