Suborder: Yangochiroptera (Microbat)

Family: Vespertilionidae

Subfamily: Myotinae

Genus: Myotis

Diet: Insects

Description: Body length of 3.5-4.8 cm, wingspan of 21-24 cm, and weighing around 4-8 g

Location: Mainland Europe, United Kingdom, and into the Urals, also they have been found in Morocco!

Fun Facts: They're very similar to Brandt’s bat and were only distinguished as a separate species in 1970! They prefer urban areas around water! They have three subspecies M. m. mystacinus which is found in most of their range, M. m. occidentalis which is found in Iberia and Morocco, and M. m. caucasicus which is found in the Caucasus if you can believe it lol. They can also be found in forests, meadows, and semi-deserts! It's the most common bat species within its range in Europe so the bat isn't concerned endangered or threatened!!

Welcome to Palmyra

I'm happy to announce that, together with a roster of great artists, writers, and actors, I've been secretly working on a huge multimedia podcast project. And it's called:

The city of Palmyra has been cordoned off, deemed contaminated. Supposedly, everyone's been evacuated. But we know it's not true. Inside the Exclusion Zone, the Feds, shady companies and hateful militias vie for control of the city, and strange horrors straight out of nightmares lurk around every corner. Meanwhile, those who got left behind are just trying to survive and stick together in this hellscape.

This project will smuggle information out of Palmyra. Apart from the many stories found in our podcast, you'll find recovered footage and documents belonging to different factions and survivors within the city. You can now listen to episode 1 of the podcast!

You may also presave the Kickstarter so you'll be notified when it goes live in a month! We'll be using it to fund our first season and make zines! In the meantime there will be plenty of extra content and cool art coming for you! Follow us at @american-abyss for our first batch of stories! I'm so excited to show more over the coming months! Northern Yellow Bat Lasiurus intermedius

A bat from the southeastern United States, Cuba, coastal Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. This species typically inhabits wooded areas near permanent water sources or coastal habitats with Spanish moss or palm trees. Mating occurs during flight in the fall. If their maternity roost is disturbed, mother yellow bats will pick up their pups and carry them to a safer roost.

Rüppell's Horseshoe Bat Rhinolophus fumigatus

It is endemic to Africa, south of the Sahara. It occupies a large swathe of western and central Africa, from Senegal to Ethiopia and south to Namibia and South Africa. It is generally associated with both dry and wet savannah areas, and with dry forests. It roosts colonially in caves.

Location: Europe, Northern Africa, Central Asia, and Eastern Asia

Fun Facts: Europe's largest horseshoe bats! They only travel around 30 kilometers between their winter and summer roosts! Their horseshoe noseleaf helps them focus their ultrasound they use to “see” They can live up to 30 years! They normally forage in pastures, woodlands, Mediterranean and sub-mediterranean shrub lands and woodlands! They hibernate in cold underground sites during winter! They have maternity colonies!! They are not endangered or threatened!!! They normally roost in old buildings and attics in large and tight colonies! Since their location spread is so large, so is their behavior and preferences as a species too! Truly a very variegated bat species!
