To anyone that listens to podcasts, if you come across an ad for a service called Upstart, ignore that shit. Upstart is a predatory loan company that will take advantage of you and tons of podcasts have been advertising for them lately. They make it sound like a great and easy way for poor young people to get loans but it’s bullshit. Don’t fall for it. And feel free to let your fav podcasters know this if they start advertising for this company. They’ve been singling out podcast communities to advertise to lately.

And in general, be skeptical of ads you hear in podcasts and don’t trust them just because your fav podcasters say their services are good! Just like anyone else involved in making media, they’ll do a lot of shit for money that isn’t the most ethical because we live in a capitalist society that doesn’t encourage creative efforts unless you can make money off of them. Treat podcast ads just like you do tv and YouTube ads and ignore that shit.
