Hello everyone, I was going through my drafts the other day and saw this one I wrote at the beginning of my writing journey, i quite like it looking back over it, but feedback is appreciated as always
Liquid silver
You were like liquid silver,
Beautiful and shining,
Passing through my fingers and pooling in my palm.
It seemed you could take any shape, had so many uses,
your reflective surface showed me exquisite visions of myself and the world, though they were only blinding lies.
You were never liquid silver.
you were mercury,
Toxic and dangerous,
Your vapor filled my lungs,
Suffocating my life, you didn’t show me visions, only hallucinations.
Mercury will hurt you,
Mercury can kill you, though it can never truly be destroyed.
The only way to stay safe,
Is to have it disposed.
Can I ask your age and how long you've been writing?
Hi, I’m 21 and have been a reader for basically all my life, but I’ve only been producing my own work for about 2 months
The Ghost
To chase you is to chase a ghost,
trying to understand your thoughts and signs
is like trying to knit together fog
with empty hands.
I wish I had a manual
to understand your mannerisms and thoughts,
some way to know who you are
behind the false smiles and pleasant words.
I want to see all of you
the good and the bad,
the pretty and the ugly,
and to appreciate every part,
even the jagged edges,
even the shadows.
But I fear I never will.
For you are like a ghost to me,
always near, yet never truly here;
and no matter how closely I look,
how deeply I yearn,
I find that I can see
right through you.
I wrote this for one for a very close friend of mine, we’ve been through some rough times, but have come out the other side.
A love that argues back
You have been in my life
since we were twelve,
all elbows, knees and unfinished thoughts,
when the world still felt too large
and we were certain we could outgrow it.
Somehow, we grew into each other instead.
You are stitched into the fabric of my becoming,
into the versions of me
I barely remember
and the ones I am still trying to understand.
I know the shape of your laughter,
And the particular silence that means you’re thinking,
The way your presence can feel
like both shelter and a storm.
I love you
with the fierce, unceremonious devotion
usually reserved for family.
Not chosen once,
but chosen over and over,
in a thousand ordinary moments.
And still,
there are days
where you make me want to scream.
When your words find every last nerve
and press down with astonishing precision.
You can unravel me
faster than anyone else,
can turn affection into exasperation
in the span of a single conversation.
You are impossibly good at getting under my skin,
as if you built part of it yourself.
You torment me
with your honesty,
your stubbornness,
your refusal to let me hide
from myself.
You challenge me,
provoke me,
push until I am ready to explode.
And then,
with the same hands,
you steady me.
You know how to care for me
without making it look delicate.
You hold space for my chaos.
You remind me who I am
when I forget,
when I would rather be angry
than admit I am hurting.
That is the maddening beauty of us.
You are both comfort and irritation,
a constant presence
I could never replace
and occasionally want to strangle.
But even in frustration,
even in the moments
when I could gladly launch you into the sun,
there is love.
Steady, unshaken, deeply rooted love.
The kind that survives annoyance,
that laughs after arguments,
that endures because it has learned
how to bend without breaking.
You are, in every sense,
something like a sibling to me,
a person I did not choose at the start,
but would choose now,
again and again,
despite everything,
and perhaps because of it.
Four sets of footprints marked the sand.
The sand warm and firm beneath their feet,
the patter of excited children,
picking up rocks, shells, sea glass,
so ordinary to the eyes of an adult,
but so deeply extraordinary to them.
Wind tosses hair into joyful swirls,
salt settles on rosy cheeks.
The sound of laughter mixes
with the calls of seagulls
and the crash of waves,
creating a symphony of delight.
Each grain of sand beneath their feet
was a cherished memory,
all precious and uniquely shaped.
the waves washed away
the path they took,
But it could not take
what would always be held so dear,
the love,
the memories,
the perfect afternoon.
As I Watch the Lavender Grow
There’s times I often wonder
About what you’re doing now
Where you are and what you’re feeling
If I could talk to you somehow
These thoughts always come to me
As I gaze out my window
So I sit back and I wonder
As I watch the lavender grow
You don’t pick up the phone anymore
And you don’t reply to my texts
It’s not your fault, and I don’t blame you
There’s little else to expect
And as I replay memories
Or scroll back through my phone
A tear comes to my eye
As I watch the lavender grow
There’s times I took for granted
The bond we shared, you and me
The love, the warmth, the kindness
The biscuits and a nice cup of tea
Or how you’d cheat at card games
Or how your smile would always glow
These are things I think of
As I watch the lavender grow
It’s hard knowing that I’ll never
Get to speak to you again
That you’ll never hear my stories
And the birthdays you won’t attend
As I count your stolen hours
I’m grateful that I know
All the joy and love we shared
As I watch the lavender grow
Read this guys poetry, he’s fantastic

ROOTS
Lily felt displaced for as long as she could remember, out of place, or wedged in between. She didn’t remember much of her childhood, not even passing memories; she only had anecdotes told to her by others. Nothing felt personal, nothing real.
Her mother died when she was young, and along with her childhood, her mother was lost with it, a mere mention in the passage of her life. She hadn’t heard wonderful things about her. Not that she was terrible or evil, just that perhaps she wasn’t meant to be a mother. Perhaps she would’ve been something greater if she hadn’t had her, and that’s where the guilt came in.
Lily had sisters, but she couldn’t help but think that, as the youngest, would things have been different if she hadn’t been born? Would life have been better for her siblings? Would her mother, in her short life, have been happier?
Her mother was talented, no doubt, smart and self-assured, fulfilled and happy. She had a husband, children, a home, and a career. But then Lily came along, and it all seemed to break down. Was she the first stage of failure?
In some cruel cosmic irony, she looked the most like her mother. Everything seemed familiar, the same hair colour, smile, eyes, expressions. Everyone reminded her that she looked exactly like a woman she never knew and would never know.
It felt like torture. Every time she was reminded, she was not Lily anymore, she was her mother. She didn’t feel like an individual, but like a memory for others. It was so very frustrating.
Even despite the frustration, she felt heartbroken for a woman she never truly knew, but who had brought her into the world, who had breathed her into existence. She mourned the memories of those who remembered her, not the woman herself, and that made her feel awful.
Despite all these terrible feelings, she wanted to feel like her own woman, especially as she came into full adulthood. So, she went to the store and picked up a box of black hair dye. She wanted to use it to cover the blonde hair her mother had given her, so she might look like her own person, like an individual.
When she started studying health and social care, she dreamed of being a nurse, or perhaps a radiologist, until she was told that was her mother’s career. So she pivoted. She completed her qualification in health and social care and began studying English at university, dreaming of becoming a teacher, until she was told her mother had been a primary school teacher before her career in radiology.
Lily felt as if the universe was playing a cruel joke on her. Why her, and no one else? So she did the only thing she thought she could do.
She dyed her blonde hair black.
As the dye took over her roots, she felt more at ease, as if she were covering something deeper, something spiritual, something emotional. Slowly, the comments comparing her to her mother stopped, and she felt more like herself, more like a person.
When she saw herself in the mirror with her new black hair, she realised that she liked it. Even if her family thought the blonde suited her better, it did not matter, she thought it was pretty. It belonged to her.
And as months passed, and she saw the blonde appearing once more, she stood from her bed and looked into the mirror, knowing she would have to cover her roots again.
A small poem about my sister, this is the first time I’ve tried to make my work rhyme.
If I could change you
If I could change you, what would I do? Add better qualities, make them stick like glue. Make you taller or shorter, reshape your hue, change your colour, turn you pink, green, or blue.
If I could remake you, who would you be? Someone softer, kinder, healthier, maybe. I’d keep you here longer than time lets you stay, Hold you closer, never drifting away.
I’d make our hugs tighter, refuse anything less, Smooth out the chaos, untangle the mess. If I could change you, would you still be true? Or lose the very things that make you, you?
But then I remember, whatever we do, You are my sister. And I love and hate you.

Hello my friend and anyone who stumbles upon my poem. My dear friend inspired this and along with many others, I love you all.
I love them more than anything
They are my life
The friends that love, that listen
that are there for you
even when you are not there for them
They are patient and wait
they take your issues and address
they don’t judge
and I am internally grateful
and I would never dare judge them
I love them
as they love me
they are my love
my life
Hello everyone, or just my friend.
Regardless, my ex of 4 years messaged me the other day and it inspired this poem, whoever is reading, I hope you enjoy it and I’m always open to critique.
The Loss of a Love
Just when you thought
you were done,
when you were over the heartbreaks,
it comes back
a thousand fold.
The love you shared,
the memories cherished
now become bitter sweet,
as the years pass,
the memory of you
won’t fade.
Even if I’ve moved on,
even if I’ve loved you
and lost you,
you still hold a piece of me
forever,
that I won’t ever ask for back;
and that is my forgiveness,
to hold your memory
as you hold mine,
a memory of a person
that once was,
but no longer remains.
I don’t love you,
but I did once,
myself in the past
loved you more than I loved oxygen,
and I can’t fault you
for giving that love
nor taking it away.
But moving on
and honouring it
is the most lovely memory.
Hello, soon to be follower (best mate)
This one is for you, it isn’t about you, but I’ll post something for you I’ve been working on,
Love you babes xx
The shadow of guilt The shadows approached, they were the consequence. Whether a wrong decision when drunk or poor choice of words, whether a phrase said in anger or frustration seeping out, all actions have a consequence. You can laugh and dismiss the signs, shift the weight of guilt and shame, but the debt will be paid. The guilt of selfish actions does not arrive in storms or confrontation, but slowly bleeds through the conscience of your own mind, it does not bring plagues or vengeance, but slowly grinds you down to a point of exhaustion. The shadows of consequence will follow you wherever you go, until. Until what? Until you make a choice to forgive and accept forgiveness, until you change your mind and person and accept personal wrongdoing, and when you do so, when you grow, the shadows fade into the cooling shade of relief.
Hello empty room,
For the second day in a row I’m posting a poem :0. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated if you stumble upon this, also if people want to ask stuff feel free but idk how to turn on asks, anyways:
Look Up to the Sky
I look up to the sky, cold and grey
unimpressed with the life I have inherited,
yearning for the lives
I imagine are better than mine
I feel empty,
lost in thoughts of all I do not have
But then—
a moment
I look at my family,
my friends,
and for a second,
I see what I already have.
The loneliness quiets,
the emptiness softens,
the hollow space within me
fills with gratitude, with love
I hold close those I have,
those who love me
because some have no one at all.
And for that,
I am fulfilled.
Now, when I look up to the sky,
it’s warm and blue, sun shining through the clouds,
I do not think of what I lack
I think of them.
They are my happiness.
Art I spent my life believing that suffering meant something, that every inconvenience or tragedy Was a step closer to the writer I hoped to become my experiences shaped me like clay, It felt like proof that I was becoming someone who could understand the world. But time, Revealing and transformative whispered something else that suffering does not create art That pain is not a tool not a currency to be traded for greatness or understanding And slowly, I began to see perhaps suffering is the art, not in the harm it brings but in its transformation In the courage of choosing to rise each morning In the effort of becoming softer in a world that hardens. In learning how to carry what hurts without letting it define who you are or what you create. I am still young, still learning, But I am grateful as I know now That healing is the masterpiece, And in my forgiveness and emotional recovery, I have been creating art all along.
