My super advanced mapmaking technique - a handful of dice makes the map nice
interesting method
My question is do the die affect topography any or just set the borders?
I imagine it’s up to the person making the map. But maybe the more dice in a single spot, the more mountainous or forested the area. Maybe choose a few dice to be deemed cities, and some dice for ruins.
Maybe let the dice choose, like a nat 20 would be the world capital, and 10’s would be mountains or something like that.
1-5: Plains and fields
6-8: Forests
9-11: Mountains
12-14: Tundras and snow covered lands
15-17: Farms and towns
18-19: Larger cities
20: Capitals and castles
what would happing if all the dice landed on a 20?

Petition to have Tumblr actually do something about porn blog bots following users.
• It’s annoying. • It gives an imperfect metric for how many followers you have. (I would estimate about 25% of my “followers” are porn blogs run by bots). • It makes pulling up your activity page iffy even if you use Tumblr strictly for SFW content. • It’s problematic for individuals who have struggled with sex and/or pornography addictions, especially since many of the blog names are not obviously porn names, causing you to preview the blog. • It exposes minors to illegal and harmful content.
And to many of us: • It’s disgusting. • it’s degrading to human beings, especially women. • It makes Tumblr a less classy, less reputable place.
Please share this if you agree this is a serious problem.

Simple logical question. What about for Gay Males to identify with?
Now, time for me to explain that. I get it that there are a lot of male superheroes for a Straight White Male audience. I am not one of those folks who has asked at all about Male Gems. But I think it is an important thing to not make generalizations about people lest we get them dead wrong.
And besides, assuming that it’s just the straight guys asking carried this implication that “gay and trans* are the same thing,” which is simply not true. (Also, this kinda makes Matt Burnett’s posts potentially homophobic AND potentially transphobic. Just saying.)
And finally, for those who DO want to see a male gem, I think there already is one. I never really had the chance to watch the show at all, but based on what I heard from fans, isn’t Steven himself at least Half Gem? And for the most part, genders among gems as just a convenience for dealing with humans?

I know this cartoon is about film, but I think it also nicely sums up my thoughts on certain parts of the RPG industry and the way a lot of indie designers push to make “important”, “edgy” and “innovative” games. This cartoon nicely sums up the mentality of companies like White Wolf Game Studios and the no-longer relevant game designer Ron Edwards.
Seriously, if you’re going to design games, then don’t dismiss the idea of games that are just fun. Just like comedy films, a game that’s silly or maybe even a little “un-gritty” does have a place as well.
At least, I think it’s a new term....

Minimum wage is $7.25 here, so you would have to work 14+ hours on one picture to be working for below minimum wage. Plus, unlike a minimum wage job most artists don’t pay income tax, social security, etc… on that money. I get it, you think your art is worth a lot more than market price and that’s fine. But stop encouraging artists to raise their prices just to make yours seem more reasonable.
Everyone running a patreon pays taxes, as one popular example. Artists who don’t pay taxes are doing so at the risk of paying incredible fines to whatever their government is, as it breaks the law. Infact, they pay more taxes on average due to it often being self-employment.
I encourage everyone to raise their prices in order to afford the cost of living and taxation and gradually raise the quality of the society they exist within instead of encouraging struggle and poverty.

Ever since I saw this tweet originally a few days ago it’s been stewing in the back of my mind because it pisses me the fuck off. I’ve seen many good critiques of her comments already, but I wanted to throw my two cents in once I figured out what I wanted to say and how to word it
Anita is someone I actually generally don’t agree with very often but I let it slide since it’s mostly about video games, that’s not worth debating, and there are times I have definitely agreed with her. This isn’t one of those times.
But something like this is worth me speaking up.
My name is Atma and I teach martial arts, swordsmanship, and self-defense for a living. It’s something I’m good at, that others trust me to do, trust me to upkeep, and trust me to pass on to others. Sure, I look and sound cool doing stuff like donning armor and sparring and doing elaborate kicks and easily taking down grown men thrice my weight and a foot and a half taller than me, but there’s a very dark reality undermining all of it.
Most of the people I see come to our self defense courses are women. Usually in college or fresh out of it, or are senior citizens. Two very huge at risk groups for crime. Do you guys know the disgusting facts about the world I have to know about and talk to others about in these courses? Rape statistics, muggings, kidnappings, tactics criminals use to trick you, having to teach people things like being aware of your surroundings, how to identify exits, how far legally you can damage another person in defense before you become the aggressor and can get sued over it, and so on.
All vile, horrible things I wish didn’t happen. All things I wish I didn’t have to be so aware of and talk to strangers about. In a perfect world, my job wouldn’t exist. I wish it didn’t. But the reality is it does, because shit happens to people, shit happens to women.
It is not violence or promoting masculine ideals or victim blaming to prepare someone for this. It is a feminism; it’s a legacy of protection passed down historically in a lineage up to and including me from other women and those that respected women and taught them. It’s women helping women. So we can help others have autonomy over themselves and keep it that way.
There is no doubt in my mind it will continue too. Someday I will have a student who will want to take over and I will pas it all down to her, and after I die, it will continue, because violence and shit like people kidnapping each other and forcing them to be sex slaves and vile things will always be a part of human nature, of our history.
Feminine things and femininity and girl power are nice and all, but everyone forgets this is a part of our legacy too. I am the janitor and I have to clean up after all this and make sure that happier, more pacifist and feminine side of feminism is safe. That those that cannot or will not do stuff like this have a chance too, because I’m willing to take up such ugly work.
If I don’t, we’re doomed.
It’s okay to stand up for yourself. To rise up. To fight back. To tell the world fuck you, you are here now, and you refuse to back down.
That’s not violence, nor will it ever be. To see it as violence is immensely dangerous and harmful to me, and it’s a brand of feminism I do not want to be a part of ever. To me, it’s a basic human right to protect yourself and to be able to protect others. To glorify something like women saving women in a movie like this is a fucking beautiful thing to me and I’m glad it exists.
My feminism includes this reality, and if you want to see it as violence, well, that’s your choice. Just know what you’re implying by saying this.
Sarkeesian, you fucked up this time, and it’s a shame because you’re so influential, I don’t want people following this just because you said it.
Without me and other women now able and willing to fight back and save others, you won’t get people like Furiosa in the future who are inspired to rise up. And that’s a future I don’t want to believe in is one devoid of women like her.
TLDR - Sarkeesan states that self defense of women for their own rights is misogynistic. This, by extension, implies that it is non-feminist to teach women martial arts or self defense courses because it perpetuates the system (or whatever). Because VIOLENCE should never be considered feminist, even in self defense or in the face of a bad world.
In case it wasn’t already clear - she’s a career pundit now, and should be treated as such (tune them out so they go away). She attacked Mad Max Fury Road because it’s a popular and successful film and that would generate more page views for herself by everyone commenting on it. Likely she will also use this as a feedback loop and play victim card for more page views. When, in fact, Fury Road is unarguably the film that promotes women as equals, and strives to cement equality among all individuals by all of the heroes … which really means it’s one of the most triumphant feminist pieces in recent history.
… either that or she is completely delusional about her influence. Surrounded by so many followers that if something doesn’t appeal to her ideal viewpoint of femininity, or if she just doesn’t enjoy it personally, she can denounce it as non-femininist and enough loyal followers will agree with her to create the feedback loop to make herself believe that she’s infallible in her analysis of the world.
I know this has nothing to do with my field of tabletop games, but I think the word should be spread. Because there really are multiple viewpoints when it comes to feminism. And I think we, as a world, need to be aware of these multiple interpretations.
Plus, you don’t get more horribly unfortunate in your implications (when discussing rape and misogyny) than “if you don’t just take it, then you’re just perpetuating the REAL misogyny.” I’m sure this is not what Miss Sarkeesian intends,to say, but it IS what’s being said, which is WHY we have a feminist (Atma) refuting her point here.
[Some of you will notice that I changed things. Let’s just say I might have caught my own unfortunate implications so I thought I’d so the reasonable thing nip that problem in the bud.]

I know that tables such as Table 3 are repetitive in relation to some of my other tables but know that it is because if you do download or use the tables you don’t have to go back and reference other tables, it will all be there in front of you :)
Also, i decided to use 2d4 on a fair few tables as it kept the process more compact and would still allow me to utilise the “bell curve” on results and outcomes.
