pumpkin's cage is too small and needs more bedding. hamsters need at least around 800 square inches to roam and explore, as well as at least 6 inches of it so they can exhibit their natural burrowing behaviors. paper and hemp bedding is most commonly used. please do proper hamster research before getting a hamster.

i kNOW dude i know 🥹 i have no money of my own we live in india and literally this cage is all i can get with the money my parents allow and the resources generally available in india. this is genuinely the biggest cage i could find. ive been begging my parents to let me diy a cage for ages and they repeatedly say no. getting this hamster wasnt even my choice </3

HA! The Humane Society said he was a picky eater and would only eat Oxbow junk despite their best efforts–and they were kind enough to send us home with a baggie of it so I could wean him off it onto better food) but you see those green pellets he's ignoring as he chows down on the grains and seeds? That's the Oxbow he's ignoring! I got him on better food in just four days!

A huge thanks to the Hamingway Database for directing me to Bunny Nature Hamster Dream Expert. It was the best I could find but was anticipating a more arduous trial and error but I really lucked out! (And this is by no means a slag on the Humane Society, it really was just luck on my part)
