the notes on the “you should read more nonfiction books” post i reblogged a few minutes ago are really depressing to me… So many people screaming crying throwing up about how fiction is their special little funtime zone and they couldn’t imagine reading anything nonfiction. I do not sympathize with that mindset. I can’t help but wonder what society-level force has instilled people with this incurious attitude. is it a failing of the education system? i’m just not sure.

When I played red version for the very first time as like a five or six or whatever year old my endgame team was venusaur, clefable, graveler, gyarados, zapdos, and moltres.

I accidentally killed articuno and didn't realize it wouldn't come back so I saved and fucked myself out of ever getting it. Also I def somehow got stuck in the seafoam islands and couldn't find my way out and had no escape ropes so I remember I had to let all my pokemon get whittled down by random encounters until I finally whited out and was sent back to a pokemon center

For whatever reason my graveler is probably the pokemon I remember the most fondly from that team (other than venusaur) despite having no real attachment to it as a pokemon now and now liking clefable a lot more. For whatever reason I had taught it metronome and I thought that attack was the coolest ever (I was correct). I had no friends to trade with so it stayed a graveler forever

I really wish I still had those pokemon somehow but that cartridge is loooooooong gone
