12 weeks, 5 days.
Not even out of the first trimester & I already want my body back.
I've taken to calling the tadpole "my dark passenger".

As of today I am six weeks & a day (according to a pregnancy app I immediately downloaded last week). My boobs are growing at an alarming rate, & don't even THINK about touching them bc they ache on sight. I have on a ratty old sports bra that is under qualified for the task of holding these bad boys, bc the straps are digging into my shoulders. The perpetual ache in my nipples is almost background at this point.. Almost. I've had increasingly bizarre dreams, which I can mostly recall. Not very characteristic of my former sleep pattern. Aaaaaand the "morning" sickness. It's more like "go longer than three hours without eating & suffer the consequences" sickness. I am the least impressed.
The telltale pee stick that signified the beginning & end of all things (at least in MY life).

On Friday, I left work early for a doctors appointment. On the way there, I stopped at CVS for a few random makeup items, and as an afterthought, a pregnancy test. After checking out, I scurried to the back of the store to unleash a furious stream of urine unto the seemingly harmless little stick. It didn't take the full two minutes estimated for the results to indicate that I am, in fact, with child. My hands shook from that point until long after my scheduled med check. I told my boyfriend in the Community Health parking lot. His reaction was guarded, as he wasn't sure how I was taking to the realization that this was a real thing (I've been avidly AGAINST getting pregnant, my entire life). I called my OB to make an appointment, & it was then that the nurse estimated I was about five & a half weeks... & that we'd be listening for a heartbeat at my 8 week appointment on July 16th. It was awe-inspiring & humbling, to realize that in under a month the tiny creature nesting in my belly would be developed enough to have a heartbeat. Not to mention I'd only just found out. Excitement set it.
