I was thinking the same thing… tbh when I first started watching this show it actually took me a while to actually register that Ruby isn’t a boy. I always supposed that making her look, act and sound so masculine was Rebecca’s way of letting a lesbian couple pass by everyone’s radar so that CN would air the episodes without protesting. And also not letting conservative homophobic parents realise what their children could be watching unless they really sat down and paid attention to the dialogue…

But now there’s just no hiding it. Now there’s a tiny blue person with a girly voice and a big poofy ponytail and another tiny person in a white gown having a 100% honest-to-god WEDDING and KISSING ON THE MOUTH and I’m like. Grabbing popcorn waiting to see the shitstorm that will ensue. All the Church moms having a collective aneurism. Foreign media trying to censor a show that has become uncensorable. Waiting for those delicious homophobe tears to start falling.
