16. Has there ever been a time in your career in which you felt wronged in any way?
currently accepting : (*)
❛ wronged and disappointed. in life, we all want to be accepted, seen, and loved but it’s hard to feel any of those things when we’re too busy feeling victimized by hate. i’ve seen more than one malicious comment thrown at me which at first made me quite obsessed over such thing, playing it back in my head like a bad movie that wouldn’t quit. i felt more than scared to check on what netizen have to say about me. but at the moment i found myself removed from the kind of person i used to be, i stopped myself from growing further. the entertainment industry isn’t the right place for weak people. whether i like it or not, six years of struggling made me the way i am. for now i have to admit, i’m more mature than how i was before. i’ve changed for the better and i’ll continue to change until the day i die. people make mistakes, we all make mistakes but they don’t define you or what kind of person you really are. ❜
“Why does everyone want to be loved so bad?” “It seems essential; the idea of a half heart makes most people apprehensive. Alone is a word every one fears” she waited. “And I don’t think we are getting rid of the reputation love so falsely upholds anytime soon, so try not to fall for it..for your own sake”
- Excerpt from a book I’ll never write (M.R)
OOTD 3/29 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
taekjo was right that he had spent way too much time even though they had set up a time to meet up which made him feel even more worse than he had felt a few seconds ago after taekjo had reminded jinyoung of how long he had waited for the younger one. “ahh..” he could really only sigh, licking his lips afterwards. he really sounded bummed and a bit shy too because taekjo’s voice was really sharp and he could only wonder what he would be like when they met. if they met at all. “i’m just now paying the taxi driver ahjussi. don’t go anywhere! i know i owe you one, i know you’re busy.” jinyoung took out some cash from his wallet while the phone was between his shoulder and ear, thanking the driver as he exited the cab. “i’m right here, on the street– i’m walking inside. okay, hyung? don’t go anywhere! i’ll buy you anything you want, i’m so sorry.” at this point he was really almost running only if there weren’t so much people and he didn’t want to get too much attention by running around like a headless chicken.
THE MOMENT he spotted the younger male, he cocks his head upwards, chin in his palm while throwing a sharp glare as he settle down on the seat right across him. taekjo’s eyes trails along the younger’s features; noticing he’s sort of breath with thin layer of sweat formed upon his forehead. ❛ tch. ❜ he clicks his tongue at the mess before him, attentively his hand rising only to pull on jinyoung’s cap, fixing his messy disguise ( which is quite too obvious ) before pushing the black framed glasses up the bridge of his nose. the younger’s too reckless and with how he present himself always drawing attention from the public. that’s what makes him worry after all. ❛ looking at you, i can’t even stay mad for too long. you remind me of our maknae. ❜ taekjo’s voice turns more subtle than before, it’s gentle and filled with unspoken words. it’s a fact that he always have a soft spot with younger people, especially ones that he considers close to him. ❛ it’ll be my treat, what would you like to order ? ❜ he shrugs off his jacket; once again welcoming countless gaze which held onto him as the loud chatter behind rises over suspicion.
after scrolling through the menu, he finds what he’d like to order. thinking to himself for a bit, mumbling under his breath whether he prefers chicken or beef. he doesn’t feel unease at the attention they started to receive, a few girls who’s sitting not too far from them doesn’t feel the need to be discreet once they know their identity. through the corner of his eyes, they already pulled their phones, snatching a few pictures then following that familiar giggling noises which why he rises his gaze, gently tapping at the café policy that stated no photos with that peculiar smile of his. ❛ i think they already know who we are- do you want to move ? i'm afraid more people will-- ❜ with a simple tilt of his head, there's already a line of girls looking through the window, stealing glances as he massages the bridge of his nose gently. one thing that throw him off would be the whole commotion caused other customers feel uncomfortable. ❛oh, speak of the devil..
now that warmed her heart, causing her to smile from ear to ear - a signature smile of hers since she can never wipe it off of her face. bouncing rather excitedly on her heels, she clasped her hands in front of her chest to contain her excitement. “suki waterhouse is such a pretty person! i’ve seen her photos on the internet a few times, uwah but…” quirking a brow in a playful jest, she filled her cheeks with air and poked his shoulder gently. “really?”
❛ really. ❜ he mimics her gesture, filing up his cheeks with nothing but air before letting out a quiet laugh at the show of this side of him. it’s true that he’s quite fond of the younger, thus why he always feel the need to make her laugh or smile in ways that would fill his chest with nothing but joy. ❛ always oppa’s favorite. which why you have to work harder from now on. make oppa proud, okay ? ❜ with his huge palm, taekjo starts to rub her head, watching the way her nose scrunched under his touch. ❛ you had me worried. it’s good to see you like this. ❜
Areum was more than content about the fact he wasn’t resisting her attempts to help him and also lowkey due to how he felt comfortable enough to appear before her without any makeup on, purely him, every imperfection and every whim of exhaustion, every weakness. It was only when he placed the keys on the table that Areum truly felt relieved and a soft sigh escaped her lips, taking the keys from him and smiling reassuringly, soothingly. ❝ Of course you can’t say ‘no’ to me. I would make sure even if you tried. ❞ He knew her words were true and that she wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer when her friend was in such a state. ❝ I will go buy you tea and you are going to drink it while I drive you home, okay? ❞ With a determined look, she stood up to go to the counter of the cafe and order a tea that soon enough came out warm, Areum glancing every so often to Taekjo to check up on him before she returned and held out the tea to him. ❝ Come on– let’s get going. You can thank me in a week with pizza or fried chicken. ❞
THE LOOK on his face resemble of a sulking child with his lips turned upside down. taekjo wasn’t one to disagree whenever areum act this way. obediently, instead of uttering more words, he takes the tea and rushes out of the café, following her steps. ❛ should i call you mom from now on ? ❜ he offers a forced laughter which he quickly regret when his chest suddenly tightened. the short of breath and chest ache would occur once a while but now, it happens quite more often. quickly, he fakes it with a minor cough, another smile plastered upon his lips while he gets into his white suv that was parked not too far from the said place. shifting in his heat while tugging on the safety belt, a familiar click rings for a second while his gaze follows her. ❛ i’m really okay, areum. stop looking at me that way. ❜ taking a deliberate sip of his hot tea, he crosses one of his legs atop the other, eyes fixing on something else instead. ❛ i just need more sleep, that’s all. ❜
he claimed the seat across his friend and laughed a bit as his chin rested against his palm, and after he’d tossed a quiet slip of thanks to the lady taking their order. his focus clamored over, though, to coat the man in front of him; to amplify his words; to magnify the details of his figure. in return, damien shrugged, responded with the same energy. ❛there’s not much to say about my life. it’s pretty normal. consists of studying and studying; more studying. what about you? what’s up with you?❜
❛ what about me? ❜ he cocks his head over to the side, moistening his bottom lip when it’s getting dry. ❛ busy with work as usual, haven’t been getting enough sleep and my manager won’t stop telling me to go to the gym. he said.. i need to gain more muscle instead of-- eating too much. ❜ he speaks out with a smile pulled over his lips as well; he catches the other’s gaze this time, noticing the worn out atmosphere that set its place in between. ❛ it’s funny cause you know me, i don’t gain weight at all. ❜ taekjo stretches his arms over his head, allowing a plain yawn following.
Off the Record: A list of intrusive questions designed to make your Idol think.
A list of questions made to dig a little deeper into your character: who they are and how their chosen profession may have shaped their persona. Most of these are the kind your muse would (probably) not be able to answer 100% truthfully if ever asked on an official platform such as a magazine interview simply because of the possibility of negative repercussions that they pose. Simply send in a number(s) and my muse will answer these questions with nothing but the truth.
Are you happy with what you’re doing?
What exactly are you aiming to gain from being an Idol?
What advice would you give any hopeful rookies?
What does your family think about what you do?
What do your non-idol/celebrity friends think about what you do?
Have you ever been betrayed by someone in the industry? Someone you thought you could trust?
Have you ever been forced to disregard your values while being an idol?
Have you ever had to sacrifice any sort of relationship(s) for your career? If so, do you regret it?
Think back to before your debut: What exactly was it about being an Idol that attracted you to the job so much so that you were willing to sacrifice so much for it?
Look ahead five years. If you were still doing this then, can you honestly say it would make you happy?
Is there any member of your group you didn’t/don’t get along with? Why? (If you’re a solo artist, is there a labelmate or fellow artist you don’t get along with?)
Some say choosing to become an Idol is a selfish thing to do; that the pain it causes those around you isn’t worth the fame/success. Do you agree?
South Korea is still very much considered to be a conservative nation and this reflects upon mainstream music with countless songs forced to undergo alterations such as lyrical changes. How do you feel about this level of censorship? Do you think it limits the creative freedom of mainstream artists?
As an Idol, most people expect nothing less than perfection from you. How do you cope with this pressure?
What do you think about your company? If given the chance to leave it in favour of somewhere else without any negative repercussions, would you take it?
Has there ever been a time in your career in which you felt wronged in any way?
Was there ever a point at which you genuinely considered breaking away from the industry so much so that you researched how you could go about doing it?
Have you ever opposed any of your superiors? If ‘yes’, what sort of impact did it have on you and/or your members and if ‘no’ would you ever consider doing so?
Some Idols only see this job as something temporary in their lives; a stepping stone to something greater (i.e acting, mc positions etc). Do you feel the same way?
Look at the question above. Do you think it’s fair that some people who’ve had the pleasure of debuting have no intentions of sticking around as a singer when their places in the industry could have gone to others who wanted nothing more than to be part of the Idol world?
Some would say that the Idol lifestyle is a toxic one; from the constant media attention to the countless amounts of vicious comments left online. Would you agree with such a statement?
A few years ago, Idols weren’t expected to do much beyond singing and performing but nowadays are expected to branch out into other fields in order to become a “jack of all trades” (so to say.) Does that bother you and/or leave you feeling pressured in any way?
How has becoming an Idol changed you? Do you think you’d be a different person had you decided to pursue a different path in life?
Regardless of how much it is downplayed, it’s obvious that the industry is rife with corruption; one of the biggest examples of this being the act of Sajaegi (chart manipulation). Some see it as an abhorrent practice whilst others praise it for evening the playing field. What do you think?
Some say that the Idol industry is an unevenly matched playing field due to the success of the Big 3 Companies. It can be argued that regardless of how talented artists under smaller labels are, they will always be overshadowed by artists (both veteran and rookie alike) coming from the bigger companies as the latter are always guaranteed a level of attention simply because of who manages them. What do you think of this idea?
Although still on the rise, when it comes to its size and reach, K-Pop does not compare against the Western music industry. Do you think it ever could?
Are there any changes you’d like to see happen to the industry? If so, what are they?
Some people have no respect for Idols; often saying that their popularity is undeserved as they have no talent and rely only on their companies to ‘buy’ their popularity for them. What would you say to such people?
Think back to when you got the news of your impending debut with your current company. Did you, at the time truly believe your current company to be the best choice for you or were you so blinded by the thought of debuting that you never truly weighed your options? If ‘yes’, would you have declined the offer in favour of training under a different company if given the chance? Bear in mind you wouldn’t be guaranteed an eventual debut.
Is there anything you’d immediately give this career up for without a second thought? If ‘yes’, what is it?
Taekjo-ah!
incoming..
❛ well, well if it isn’t sweet haneul, to what do i owe this pleasure ? ❜
