For what feels like an eternity, you stare at him wondering if he’s just a fragment of your imagination, a hallucination prompted by the depth of your pain and desperate need for him; you wonder if it’s really him, standing there with pain and guilt shining in his onyx gaze.
A breath.
A whimper.
You are running, running to him, arms outstretched to bring around his neck, pull him down towards you in a desperate need to feel him against your skin.
“Jeongguk,” his name leaves your mouth in the form of a broken whimper and as your fingers find purchase on his curly black hair, you bring him down to meet your lips.
A soft gasp escapes his parted mouth, a little grunt vibrates on top of your lips as he misses a few steps, bringing you with him until he’s pressed against the door with his arms wrapped tightly around your small frame.
His fingers grasp your skin, pull on it to bring you closer, his tongue searches for yours, encircles it in a searing kiss that leaves you breathless, feeling as incorporeal as a thin summer breeze.
He slips away from the kiss with a little sigh of elation, his forehead coming to rest on your shoulder as he closes his eyes, his breaths coming out as long sighs as he inhales the familiar scent of your skin.
There are fresh tears in your eyes, prompted by the relief, the gratitude for his well-being, for his return within your embrace. You try to contain them, you really do, but you cannot and he can feel them through the quivering of your limbs, from the damp spot on his black hoodie.
“Don’t cry, baby, I’m here now,” his soft whisper feels warm against your ear but his words feel even warmer to your heart, making it leap in your chest with the light kiss that graces the soft expanse of your neck next.
