Thinking about Shae and trust and like, Shae’s entire concept of trust is deeply warped by her upbringing. Trust, to her, is not something freely given or earned; it’s a dangerous vulnerability, one she learned to avoid at all costs. Her parents weren’t trustworthy or kind—they were abusive (canonically her father albeit her mother isn't really mentioned) in ways that left deep psychological scars. From that foundation, Shae has developed a cold, calculating view of relationships, always expecting that those who offer kindness are looking to just use & then discard her. That untrustworthiness is her armor. From her own firsthand experience, she has learned that the world is cruel, that every smile hides a motive, and every outstretched hand comes with strings attached. It is thus hard to believe in the sincerity of others because sincerity wasn’t something she has ever been ever shown—perhaps apart from the burgeoning relationship she has with T.yrion? BUT also thinking about how Shae would still have T.ysha's story in the back of her mind...People who show genuine concern for Shae—those who offer help or try to get close—should expect to first be met with skepticism (or in some cases manipulation so as to keep control). In her eyes, their concern is temporary, conditional, and will always be revoked when it’s most needed. So why trust them?
sometimes i think about how liss was just very content with her life, with being a noble lady and going to balls and engaging in debates and traveling to Denerim to engage in Landsmeets with her da
no bc i think lissa’s anger is so important to her during origins. she’s got all this grief and pain and it has to go somewhere.
so oghren teaches her to be a berserker and it’s a little scary how she throws herself into it, how bloodthirsty she gets when she allows herself to rage.
--- vanessa is not a mean person. she isn’t a nice person, but when she does care, she cares with her entire heart. she simply prefers solitude with the exception of a handful of people. she can be very sweet to her loved ones, but will threaten the life of anyone that points that out. she doesn’t care about having a bad reputation, she just wants to be left alone. the whole ‘emo kid’ vibe isn’t a façade, it’s who she is. black is her favorite color. she only wears dark makeup and nail polish. she only listens to heavy metal, rock, grunge and some underground indie artists. she isn’t afraid of spiders. her usual mood is “meh, whatever” state of mind unless she’s very mad or very happy, a rarer emotion but there are a few things and people that cause her eyes to light up and a real smile to cross her face.
growing up, vanessa was a ballerina. her mom forced her into it, but she grew passionate about the dance. all the pink was gross, but the hobby was one she enjoyed, and she became very good at it. from time to time she catches herself twirling around her room, but she’d be mortified if anyone saw her. she’s a quick learner at anything she puts her mind to. she picked up ballet and a second language with ease, and taught herself to write with her right hand. she is naturally left handed, but it frustrated her that other kids were better at her with their other hand so with dedication she basically became ambidextrous.
vanessa isn’t sure she believes in love. at least, not the kind that lasts. she knows her parents are better off divorced but all the arguing before that makes her question if it is something real, something that can last. she had deep feelings for candace, but she fears a relationship with anyone could be temporary or toxic. so while hookups are great, she isn’t sure how serious she wants to get about anyone. she is bi, but she mostly considers herself a lesbian as the attraction is skewed greatly, somewhere in the 90/10, 80/20 area. so if you’re a guy trying to woo her, it isn’t impossible, but good luck.
while she isn’t an animal person, she owns a black cat named zepplin that she loves dearly. she never planned on adopting a cat, but when she found him being kicked around by some preteens two years ago, still too young to be away from his mother, oh, she saw red. he was small and defenseless and so terrified. she scooped him up, threatened to punt the kids into traffic, bought some kitten formula and the rest is history. she planned on adopting him out after he was healthy, but she’d simply grown too attached. she’s unsure if she believes in romantic love, but she loves zepplin unconditionally. mess with her cat and she will actually kill you.
— rosetta is a sweet person with a gentle heart, but don’t be mistaken; she is also a force to be reckoned with. she wants to be a leader. she wants people to listen to her. she wants to be taken seriously. she may come off dense from time to time, but she’s a smart girl. she looks at life through a fairytale lens, but she isn’t naïve enough to only see the good. she chooses to see the good to be happy. she may be a southern belle, she may despise getting dirty, she may have her heads in the clouds a little too often, but she’s also stubborn and determined to prove anyone who has ever had doubts about her wrong.
she is a very feminine person. she doesn’t swear... unless she’s really, really angry. it’s no secret she has a temper, and though she doesn’t think it’s polite to use “bad” words, she absolutely will if her frustration boils over. (and it doesn’t take much for that to happen if you know how to push her buttons.) she loves perfume and lip gloss, manicured nails. she loves being told she’s pretty, and she knows she is. she isn’t conceited, but she knows her worth and she likes to flaunt it from time to time. or all the time. she loves dresses and frilly skirts and, gosh, she’d just die if someone gave her a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates. or even better, chocolate covered strawberries! strawberries are her favorite thing to grow. not only are they absolutely adorable, they’re also delicious.
rosetta had a nice childhood. she loves both of her parents dearly, she’s a daddy’s girl and he calls her his little princess, his rosie, his rose petal. he’s the main reason she’s been spoiled her entire life. all she had to do was bat those big brown eyes and she’d have whatever she wanted before she could say pretty please. but it didn’t turn her into a brat, nor does she think of herself as someone who’s been handed everything. she’s also worked hard, and she’s proud of the person she is. the only thing she wishes she could change is how embarrassingly awkward she gets around boys. and the occasional cute girl. she’s a catch! but no one would ever know because she gets so. darn. flustered. and makes a fool out of her pretty little self.
she can’t help it. she’s in love with the idea of love. 90s romcoms, love songs, romance novels, all her favorite things -- her head is full of hopes and dreams of finding her soulmate. she is very much into boys, and very worried about them distracting her from her goals in life, but there’s some girls that get her tongue tied too. it isn’t that she’s hiding that part of herself, she is just a bit oblivious. too busy gushing over prince charmings and growing her plants to stop and think about it.

--- life is a coloring book, and benji bong is not afraid to color outside the lines. whether it’s with his abstract paintings, his shouting on stage, wild mismatched socks or bright purple eyeshadow, he strives to be seen. they just have a passion for life. they aren’t blind to the bad things, the pain and the sorrow, the loneliness, but that makes life even more beautiful at times. he’s naturally an optimistic person, and sees it as such a simple thing. we are all here to love and be loved, to have fun and be kind. he is loyal, he is generous, and he’d give anyone that needed it his last dollar, no second thought. his sense of humor is a little too pure to understand inappropriate jokes, and anything with a long punchline goes right over his head, but he’ll be laughing over why the chicken crossed the road for a solid five minutes.
he isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. he had trouble focusing in school, retaining information that only felt interesting to him. so his mind is filled to the brim of useless facts. don’t ask him about algebra or when the civil war was, but if you want to know the statistics of falling coconuts, they’re your go to. it doesn’t matter if benji is good at something or not, what matters is if he enjoys it. he knows he’s not great at painting or sketching, but he still enjoys drawing out ideas. they make more sense to him, pictures over words every time. he’s not a makeup artist by any means, but he still enjoys painting his face on occasion, just to wear their creativity.
a drama queen, they’re rarely truly upset, but tends to throw fits over the tiniest things. if the store is out of his favorite crisps, you’d think someone broke his heart on his birthday with his wailing. luckily they get over it fast. grudges aren’t something he’s capable of holding onto. he’s a very forgiving person, as life is too short to be petty, and people are always changing. benji is as pure hearted as people come but he has a bit of foot in mouth syndrome; he never wants to be mean or hurt someone’s feeling, but they tend to speak without thinking and sometimes that means they aren’t sugarcoating their honesty.
he loves his friends, he loves his house, he loves mostly everything about his life. each day is another chance for new adventures. while they do take their career and future seriously, they’re not going to stress over it. what’s going to happen will happen and right now he is more than content in his apartment of off the wall furnishings and putting his heart and soul into his plays. eventually maybe he’ll be making the move to hollywood, but he isn’t in a rush. after all, he’s only in his mid-twenties! benji knows they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s fine. at the end of the day, he isn’t going to change, so you can take him or leave him. he’ll be happy either way.
--- elaine is a kindhearted soul, constantly struggling with immense sadness. she would go out of her way for anyone, even strangers. empathetic, it’s easy for her to pick up on the mood of the room, and any negative emotion can quickly ruin her mood, if it wasn’t already. there are so many things on her mind at all times. she isn’t sure how to feel about where she is in life. she wishes she’d gotten further. she is in her thirties and still hasn’t found someone to settle down and start a family with. elaine wants to be a mother so terribly, she longs for it. she absolutely adores children, wishes she could protect every one she meets from all the harsh realities life has to offer.
she tries her best not to let her moodiness affect her friends, but it can be obvious at times. it’s too hard to hide when her mind won’t shut off and she feels like curling into a ball and crying. she struggles with anxiety. she is awkward in most social settings, taking awhile to feel completely comfortable with someone. she has happy moments, but she can’t go even a few hours without struggling. she is trying her best, and she is a person that loves with her entire heart.
more often than not you’ll find elaine dressed in an oversized cozy sweater. they bring her comfort. the fuzzier, the better. she’s noticed she can contain her nerves a little easier when she’s walking around practically wearing a blanket. and she does love blankets. she is a firm believer in oversleeping. not a day goes by that she doesn’t take a nap (or two) and snooze her alarm clock if possible. there’s something relieving about being able to shut the world off, to know that no matter what happens or how horrible the day is, she can always crawl into her bed and ignore all of her problems for a few hours.
elaine finds beauty in the smallest things. a cup of lukewarm, forgotten tea. a single rose petal on the sidewalk. paint water mixing into an unnamed brownish color. she is constantly searching for something pretty to appreciate --- it seems the only pretty thing she’ll never appreciate is herself. she has a horrible habit of comparing herself to others, and in her own eyes, she always falls short. the one thing she is proud of is her art. in her spare time, elaine is a painter. along with the walls of her childhood home, she likes throwing colors on canvas. her favorite thing to paint are flowers, specifically sunflowers. when she was younger, she read about them and felt like she could relate. it seems she, too, is always chasing the sunshine. maybe one day she’ll get there.
