NEW NEW JERSEY -- 3605
Jumping timelines was an old hat to him, as he pinballed around time and space on what was a glorified grief bender. He shouldn't have done it. But it had been well over five hundred years for him, and his anger had dissipated in favor of desperate nostalgia towards certain people he was inextricably tied to. He still looked the same, and he wondered if the Doctor could feel that he was different. The five hundred odd years was on top of the two thousand buried under Cardiff. Was he older than the Doctor now? Maybe. It didn't matter.
"How is she?" He asked before knocking back a drink that wouldn't affect him, one arm rested on the bar as he smiled affectionately at the mere mention of the Tardis. If there was anyone he missed, it was her. Him too, if he wasn't lying to himself.
His eyes flicked upwards, knowing damn well the fireworks here were from the three moons the circled the planet. Making it look like they were exploding. It was something to see.
It wasn't the time or place or fireworks that made his chest ache. It was the sudden reminder of who he had been and what he had lost.
"Here we go!" Three, two, one; and the sky caught fire. He laughed with delight, glass turned upside down on the bar before both hands came up either side of the Time Lord's face and he kissed him; equal parts blind tradition and centuries of loneliness in the act.
