The paper trench
You always hated the sea-- if only for the fact that you can't swim. The worst part is you weren't in the main portion of town when you'd leaned to look in the water, so probably no one saw you fall into the water. Now seawater fills your mouth and floods your senses, burning your eyes as you feel like you're being pulled under. How could you be so stupid?
You hold your breath as you feel the sea close over your head, salty water burning your eyes as you kick and grab to try and find any sort of leverage.
The water can't be that deep, can it? Then again, you aren't that tall, being only five foot three. Guess you're done in, then. Your lungs burn after what feels like seconds, and despite your better judgement, your chest is desperate for air and you briefly forget to hold your breath. Water washes over your tongue, cold and thick right down your throat. This is it for you, then.
