after each of his shows, hugo always, always, always hung out with his underground crew. they were always there to greet him, pat him on the back, praise him, and buy him a drink or two for doing well. compared to them he was more of a rookie when it came to underground shows even though he had quite a bit of experience under his belt. still, he felt like the maknae in a way, the little hoobae everyone had to take care of. one of the few who felt more like a chingu was defsoul.
defsoul, or jaebum as hugo usually addressed him, was part of his main crew, and the guy was a great time. hugo was his friend, but he’d also label himself a fanboy of jaebum as well, always cheering the loudest for him whenever something great came his way. he remembered listening to the album he put out as a producer and fanboying all over the place, sending jaebum texts of congratulations for it. hugo was a songwriter himself, not nearly as successful as jaebum, but he wrote his own stuff, so he had a special appreciation for what jaebum did.
stepping off the stage now, his face lit up as he laid eyes on the other man, heading straight for him and clapping an arm around him. “hey man, thanks for coming! let me buy you a drink to thank you, yeah?”
Seokjin startles himself awake. He’s not exactly sure why he feels so restless, not when his slumber was dreamless. But there’s something heavy settling on his shoulders. It takes a few moments of thinking to make him push the feeling away, rising up from his bed and going on with his morning routine.
It’s when he’s done feeding his cat and about to start preparing his own meal that his phone beeps with an unread message.
[ ✉ from jaebum ] can I come over?
The message itself makes him think, the unsettling feeling coming back to haunt him. For all the times he and Jaebum have ever been friends, he never really texts for permission to come over. He just either shows up or demands that he comes over to his place to be fed.
Figuring that his questions could wait until the younger gets here, Seokjin replies back.
[ ✉ to jaebum ] you have the worst timing, i was just about to make food
[ ✉ to jaebum ] don’t be late or else I’ll just have to eat this all by myself
[ draft: im jaebum ] my mom visited and brought baby clothes [ draft: im jaebum ] it hurt so much to tell her the truth…that you were gone [ draft: im jaebum ] but what really broke my heart was realizing how much i wanted to have a family with you and not being able to do so anymore [ draft: im jaebum ] i miss you so much
First Jaebum scenario! Ugh. Even with the cold demeanor Jaebum has, he’s such a big ball of fluff. Sorry, I didn’t get this out sooner. This one was a bit harder to write. For the anon who request a Jaebum fluff. I hope you enjoy!
You let out a deep breath and ran your fingers through your hair as you sat at your desk. You stared at the monitor in front of you with your fingers hovering over the keys. You wiggled your fingers before you started to type again, hoping to finish this report before you have to clock out. You were so close to being done, but in all honesty you were getting a headache from the bright screen that was blaring into your eyes. Your eyes shifted from your report to the time, back and forth, hoping that the time would go by quick so you can end this report and go home to your boyfriend.
You started getting frustrated as the things you were writing felt like it was just being repeated from the beginning of your report. Don’t get yourself wrong, you loved working with fashion and marketing. You were really good at it, you just didn’t like the fact that everything was being piled on you when there are others in your department while working 12 hour shifts. You sighed to yourself as you stopped typing, getting up from your seat to stretch your legs after from sitting down for so long.
You walked around your office before walking over to the windows. You looked out it to see the night sky. The moon and stars never shined so brightly. Usually being something you love, it made you frown tonight because of the stress work has been putting you through lately. You’ve been staying past your hours to get things done, given to you by your boss and coworkers. You’d get minimal hours of sleep, not being able to spend time with the one you love. Knowing that you should get everything done so you can go home on time, you went back to your desk to finish your report. Your attention was turned away when your phone starting ringing.
You reached up and picked up the phone as you finished your sentence. “Hello, Y/N’s office.”
“Well don’t you sound so professional,” a deep voice chuckled through the phone.
“Jaebum..” you laughed softly as you shook your head.
“I know, I know, but the boys and I got out of practice early and I was wondering if you wanted a ride home tonight.”
“Yeah, I think that--” There was a knock on your door. “Hold on, honey.” Jaebum muttered a small okay before you turned the phone away. “Come in.”
The doorknob turned and entered in your coworker with a folder in her hands before placing it on your desk. “Boss wants you to go over these designs and market the prototype to see which is more popular.” You let out a soft sigh. “And he told me to tell you that you have to finish this before you leave tonight.”
“Looks like another night in,” you muttered. “Thank you.” She nodded and left your office before you put your phone back to your ear. “I think that won’t happen tonight.”
You could hear Jaebum frown deeply through the phone. “Again? That’s the third night this week.”
You turned back to your computer and started typing again, holding the phone between your ear and shoulder, to finish up the last of the report. “Tell me about it.” Your voice got softer. “I really wanted to come home with you tonight.”
“Should I come over and keep you company?”
“As tempting as that sounds, I don’t want to bore you while I do my work. I’ll just see you at home, okay?”
“Y/N--” His voice sounded so concerned and it broke your heart a little bit.
“Don’t worry, baby. The faster I do my work, the faster I get to come home to you.”
“Okay, love.” He smiled this time. “I love you. Don’t work yourself too hard.”
“Trust me, I’ll try not to. I love you too.”
With that, you both ended the call. You finished up typing and sent the copy to your boss. After sending, you rested your elbows on your desk, hiding your face in your hands, holding back a sob as your stress tears started to roll down your cheeks. You took a deep breath before wiping away your tears before grabbing the folder, placing it in front of you.
The moment Jaebum came home to your shared apartment, he jumped straight into the shower and changed from his practice clothes to his sleep clothes which was a plain t-shirt and shorts. After his quick shower, he started to make a simple dinner for the both of you, knowing you probably haven’t eaten yet. After he was done cooking, he wrapped your plate up and set it aside before eating first himself. Tonight was going to be about you.
To make it an even more comfortable night for you, Jaebum moved the coffee table to the side in the living room and laid down a blanket, accompanying it with a bunch on fluffy pillows. Now he was just waiting on the couch for your return.
An hour after you had to clock out, you finally did. You finished what you needed to do then finally said goodnight to the place before making your way home with a cab. All you wanted to do was sleep and snuggled up to Jaebum. Just an easy the rest of the night since it was already so late. You paid the cab driver before getting out and walking up to your apartment. The lights were on you and you heard a soft sound of either the tv or music.
Jaebum was watching music shows on the couch as he waited for you, wide awake because he didn’t want to miss you. He turned down the volume when he heard the lock jiggle slightly, hearing the key unlock the door. There you were as you trudged into the room, kicking off your shoes. He frowned slightly to see how tired and weak you looked. You didn’t even see him as you walked into the bedroom to change. Even then Jaebum waited patiently.
You sighed in content being able to finally peel the clothes off that you were wearing, leaving yourself in a pair of panties before slipping on one of Jaebum’s white t-shirt lazily. You threw your hair up in a high ponytail while walking out to look for your boyfriend. Jaebum, hearing your footsteps, turned his head to see you before turning his head back and down with a bright smile as he saw how cute and beautiful you looked. He let out a quiet laugh before standing up to greet you.
“Welcome home, love,” he said while walking over to you.
You widened your eyes to see what Jaebum did. “Jae.. What is this?”
“You’ve been working so hard lately and I thought this would be a good way for you to unwind.”
You couldn’t help the tears that started spilling from your eyes. This alarmed Jaebum and his hands instantly flew to your cheeks, wiping away your tears gently with the pad of his thumbs. He leans in and kisses your forehead. “Sweetheart, why are you crying?”
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be crying,” you sniffled. “But with everything going on.. I just feel so stressed out from all the work everyone is giving me and I just--”
Jaebum cut you off with a kiss. It was sweet and gentle. You slowly melted into the kiss, placing your hand on top of his before he pulled away slightly. “I know, baby. I know.” He tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. “It pains me to see you overwork yourself, but I know that’s not your fault. I’m here for you and you’ll never get through this alone.” He leaned in and kissed away your tears gently. “I made you your favorite so how about we cuddle all night and I’ll feed you dinner.”
You nodded small as you looked up at him. “I really missed you.. what did I ever do to deserve someone like you?”
“You being yourself is all I ever ask for, beautiful. I love you so much. I don’t deserve you after all that you do and still manage to juggle everything in your life.”
“I love you too, Jae.” You smiled softly at him before he leaned down to give you another kiss, taking your hand to lead you to the pillows and blankets on the floor.

It’s almost terrifying how loud her voice gets amplified in the small space of the car and had it been any other time, she would have definitely laughed at the way he jumps in response to her voice. The way his fingers grip the stirring wheel let her know that his temper has anything but subsided and it grates on her nerves. A thousand words about how his lack of trust in her is quite hypocritical given all that has happened between them but she bites them back because she knows better than to anger him further.
“Get out of the car, I’m driving.” Jaebum gives her a look that clearly spells out what the fuck but she only gives him one back-- one that tells him to dare question her. She’s out the car and halfway around the car when he finally decides to move; she knows he’s moving slow on purpose so rather than reacting in the way he wants her to, she walks past him and gets in the driver’s seat.
The speed at which she’s driving is most definitely illegal but Seulgi finds no remorse anywhere in herself. The sooner they get to their destination, the better for both of them otherwise his brand new car will end up witnessing another fight. Seoul traffic is thankfully nonexistent this time of night so combining that with her speed, the reach the high-rise apartment complex in no time. She ignores the discreetly confused looks he sends her way as she parks the car in a slot labeled #2007P. When the engine stops whirring, she leads him up the elevator in silence after the doorman holds the door open for both of them.
Corny elevator music covers up the tension in the air but more than being mad at him, there’s a nervousness biting at her insides for what she’s about to show him. The steel doors open to spacious living room but even then, she refuses to answer any of the questions she knows he wants to ask. Once they set foot in the middle of the space, she lets him take in the sight of the apartment around him. There’s a framed portrait on the wall above the fireplace that she knows will answer his question once he lays eyes on it.
“Just in case I wasn’t clear enough back in the club, there is no one else.”
As expected, the office is a blur of activity by the time Seulgi walks through the lobby after her breakfast meeting. The employees waiting for her bow in greeting but she isn’t given time to respond because her personal assistant is already beside her reading the schedule for the day. She can barely keep up but it doesn’t really matter much; she can always ask again if she ends up forgetting.
“There’s a guest waiting for you in your office, ma’am.” Her PA reports but though her curiosity is piqued, the heiress brushes it off thinking it to be just another one of her father’s business associates dropping by to bid their greeting. It’s all part of protocol given that she is the public heir to the vast fortune of the company. Her father may be chairman and president but most of the work goes to her as the vice-president.
The elevator dings open at her floor and the sound of her heels is now hushed by the carpeting on the floor. She greets all the employees she passes by with a smile, polite and respectful as always, and walks into her office.
Of all the people she expected to see, Im Jaebum is definitely not one of them.
