A country born within dunes and drought, smiling up to the sun and saying: let’s live on together!
The sun, surprised and touched, shone even brighter for another day, whispering to the desert, if you want me to shine for you every day and live together, i shall call the rain now and then to join us, so your lands may flourish and live for longer than any kind have!
The day after, a storm fell over the dry land, bringing life with it.
Thousands of years passed, history craved on stones buried in golden dunes, the sun shining strongly day after day. How can people living in such a cruel desert be so happy and prosper so much? This is a question no outsiders could ever answer until the day it rains again, and all life are reborn. People come and go, and the land stands firm, alive.
‘ Do you know when I feel more peaceful, Carue? ‘
Vivi loved sunny days, the loud streets full of scents and melodies, days where she could laugh and walk through the city without any fear; seeing so many different faces and smiles. This was Carue’s first bet, but he could understand then, when watching the blurry window. Today, there wasn’t any music, there weren’t perfumes or loud talking. It was as if the whole country was able to understand and respect this sacred moment when rain fell to bless their land and renew it, as it always have been.
‘ I feel like rain washes everything away.... our fears, our sorrows... Can you see? Carue? Everyone here thinks the same..... can you hear their laughter and relief? How everyone goes inside and will be able to deep breath, because tomorrow they know everything will be fine.... This rain.... is our biggest treasure.... ‘
Each thunder echoed as an assurance from the sky, everything will be alright...! Vivi loved sunny days, the loud streets full of scents and melodies, and days where she could laugh and walk through the city without any fear seeing so many different faces and smiles.... But what she loved the most above it all, were those peaceful quiet days where she could only hear the sound of the rain in the outside, dark grey sky once the sun decided to hide for a short while, giving its place to heavy clouds ready to wash this ancient beloved land.
