had a TON of fun with this shot study! below is the canvas recording speedpaint (to the score claustrophobic, by andrew hulshult) and the screenshot i used for the study. got to play with gradient maps to lay down initial colors, play with color theory in real time... yeah, this was fun. very glad to have finally gotten to do it. i continue to adore this movie. at the risk of being parasocial: happy for and proud of you, mark. 👍✨ hell fucking yeah.

The   fear   of   losing   something   had   rekindled   like   a  fire  in   his  heart,  the   nightmares  of   the  past   came   back  to   hunt   him   down,   oh  how   poor   is   it  to  be   this  useless  little   archon.

A part   of   him  was  stolen  ( gnosis ),    a   part   of  him  was   taken   with  such   ease (signora),   and   he  didn’t   seemed  to  be   bothered   by  it   ( lies )  ,  and   all   he     did   was   still   bring   forth   laughter   and   joy,  smiling  happily    as   if   nothing   happens  (  lies ),  singing  his   heart   out  over   the   stories   of   past   he   still  longed   for  ( lies ) .  

Who  would   have  thought   this   useless   little   archon   would   be   such   a   good   liar ?

He  had   feigned   far   too  long,  his  persona   wouldn’t   be   able   to  break  at  all ,  this   is  who   he   is  now,   a   little   useless   archon ,   who   plays   and   blend    along   with    the  people,    a   deity    long   forgotten ,  faded   in   time   by  his    own   unselfishness,    busy   making   a  mark   for   a  deceased   friend   (  who  had  long  prayed   for  his    dear    friend   real   freedom. )        But    he   was   far   too   deep  in  grief,  far   to   deep   on   his   own   little  performance    to   know  what   real   freedom  is.   Such   a   shame...    to   be    called   the  God   of  freedom,   but   he  himself   doesn’t   know  what   real   freedom   is.  

Who   would   have  thought   this   useless   little   archon   would   be   such   a   good  liar?

And  after  long   day  of  whimsical   little  play,   filled   with  laughter   and  jubilation  from   his   songs   ( lies ),  he would   seek  solace   under   a   statue,  over   an   in animated    object  created   to   mimic   the   look    of   his  long  lost  friend   that   couldn’t   even    hear  his  prayer  ,  and   his  woes      but   for  him   a   little   glimpse   to  it   gives   comfort  ( lies ). 

Who  would  have  thought   this  useless   little   archon will   be   such   a  good  liar?  ah..  The  God  of   liars.

i'd mentioned wanting to remove the whole "whited out eye" aspect on the turtles when their masks are on AND with the triceratons in general, so here's some experimenting with the latter!

i did a bit of poking around and found the designers for the OG jurassic park movie modeled rexie's eyes off eagle eyes (same for the sick triceratops). funnily enough: eagle and owl eyes have a very similar color range to triceraton skin (pale yellows, rich oranges and browns, and sharp reds).

for traximus and zanramon i did some loose screen-shot redraws, so i was less distracted with posing and more focused on eyes/coloring. similar with nyxram, but her redraws are from the endure comic. also removed her tattoo since i haven't redesigned it just yet. might change her iris color a smidge, too, but we'll see.

i'm quite happy with this first go! there's a bit of learning to do with the iris/pupil ratio and overall eye-shape, but i'm having fun.

this morning's landscape study! spent about an hour on it. feel like i'm starting to get a groove in finding a workflow.

doing landscape/environment studies this month, every weekend morning! spent a little over an hour on this one. it took me about a third of that time to just... get a handle on how to start the damn thing (and also talk myself out of trashing it). >xD;; ehhh, not TOO bad for a first go. gotta trust myself to get the hang of it.

this morning's study! about halfway through this one, i kinda realized this was... less "landscape" and more subject-driven. spent about an hour on it. tomorrow i'll pull back and refocus on an actual... landscape. lD;;;
