There’s nothing like a good outsider POV and, when that outsider POV is a couple of young ladies who are Mormon missionaries, you’re in for a fun time. 

The dramatic irony when the missionaries talk to Steve the Gas n’ Sip employee is very amusing. The conversation he’s having is completely different from theirs. Cas’s dry sense of humour is used well here. Then they walk outside and meet a man pumping gas into his vintage car and…

Well, you’ll have to see for yourself. 

Let’s just say that these two accidental Mormon matchmakers do a pretty good job at bringing Dean and Cas together. And they’re hilariously oblivious while doing it.

With This Stab I Thee Wed by The Silver Queen Rating: Teen and Up Word Count: 8k

“Soul and mind and blood,” the creature says, which makes absolutely no sense to Dean at all. It raises its chin and looks straight at Dean, and its blue eyes are so unreasonably blue, bluer than the sky or the ocean, as piercing as a sunbeam. “You have touched my blood, and I yours. Now by the law of Heaven, we are wed.” Dean says, “What.” Or: How Dean accidentally married Castiel (and saved the world) when he stabbed him in the barn.

This Lazarus Rising retelling takes a turn for the unexpected when Dean stabs Cas and… he can’t let go. According to Cas, this means he and Dean are married.

As Dean says: “What.”

The opening scene is of Cas’s rescue of Dean in Hell, and I instantly trusted this author as they managed to make Dean and Cas feel like Dean and Cas right off the bat. The idea of an accidental marriage though stabbing is a wacky one, but the execution pulls it off flawlessly. The fic makes the reader laugh, cry, and feel a warm ball of warmth in their chest. In just over eight thousand words, the author takes Dean and Cas (and the reader) through Heaven, Hell, and Earth, and tells a convincing and adorable love story along the way.

It’s the summer after fifth year, and Sirius has made himself scarce as usual. But then Remus catches a glimpse of him in Witch Weekly’s special on the Black-Malfoy wedding. Something about that photo is very, very off… Turns out this is the summer Sirius runs away. Or tries to. Because the Blacks are not giving up on their heir without a fight.

A fic with about twenty six thousand hits, I’m jealous, but I’ll still rec it because it was a delight. Featuring a James and Sirius friendship bond that I adored. About 38k.

In a world in which there is no first war with Voldemort, Remus Lupin goes to university. He lives in a flat with Sirius in London. He has it figured out -- until he graduates. Now, he doesn't know what he wants, and he decides he needs to go home to Wales in order to figure it out. When he's been gone too long, the other boys decide to pay him a visit.

So many things to enjoy about this fic. Topics of life direction, academia and the place it can play in the lives of those who are connected to it, hometowns, big cities, best friends, your twenties, haunted houses, ride or die brothers for life, and that rare easy devotion that I always enjoy in Sirius. You can really use your imagination to create imagery for this fic, from the loud streets of London fluttering with pigeons to the quiet Welsh country roads and the gravel crunching after moonrise.

Persephone places the card between herself and Adam as he gathers up the rest of the deck. “She’s angry with me,” she sighs. “And she hates to lose an argument.”

Adam isn’t sure what meaning the card holds between Calla and Persephone, but he does know one thing: their conversation wasn’t limited to themselves. “It sounded like she’s angry at me, too.”

“Oh?” Persephone tilts her head to the side. “I think we share this card today.” She taps the high priestess with one finger. “What do you think she means to you?”
