Why did 'Don't Look Now' affect me so much? The emotions and situations being shown were adult themed. Nicolas Roeg did his job well, and I just caught everything he wanted to convey. But that wasn't really what got me. I had watched a family get destroyed, just like mine. I realized that I wasn't scared because the little girl died. I was scared because I was watching a mother and a father, two adults, fall completely apart. I saw my parents in the movie's parents. The father and mother couldn't stop it from happening; they were powerless. Even when they felt safe, even when they were supposed to be protected, evil could wrap its tendrils around their lives and smother them. My world was coming apart. I had no idea what would happen to me if there was no more family, if my mother or father went away forever. I was helpless against whatever fate my parents chose for me. And because of that, I was scared all the time. But I wasn't helpless when I watched a scary movie. I could feel the fear, I could even scream out loud, and that would be okay. In a time when I feared everything, this was one fear I could control.

tfw nobody likes you and you pretend that it’s because they’re oppressing you, but in reality it’s because you’re a shitty person with a shitty personality
the mindset that minors are pure and can’t do any harm to others such as abuse and assault and being down right manipulative is really damaging to those who have been through trauma because of minors (especially if both are/ were minors)
