SPOTIFY WRAPPED 2021
Hello My Old Heart - The Oh Hellos
"DON'T LEAVE ME HERE ALONE!"
WX grabbed and pulled back on Wilson's retreating hand without even realizing it.
They're quite stuck. They knew the risk of the caves during the summer, especially with the volatile antlion throwing tantrums every few days. Before, they just moved out of the way of the pile of boulders, but they had been a bit too careless. They were sluggish moving out of the way, and now they're trapped.
Luckily for them, only their legs were pinned down and crushed, as opposed to their entire body. They can't shove the rocks off of themselves-- they're too heavy.
They know Wilson is just going to leave for a second, come back with help, get the boulders off and carry them out...
But when all they have is a fading lantern flickering on the ground next to them, they fear the darkness will come to claim them, anyway. So they just need that refilled. That's all they need, right?
But there's a sinking feeling when they think about being all alone in general. They shouldn't, though. They're normally alone, even in difficult situations. It... feels different in such a crisis as this one. A lot of repressed emotions stir up, and the bot's thoughts can't settle down. When on a brink of death, how can they settle?
They look up to Wilson, straining their upper body to keep holding on. He seems to understand their pleading, even through hollow eyes. He kneels down, lowering WX into a resting position. He sets down his own lantern, which is stronger then WX's, and shuts that one off to save it.
They're... relieved, to say the least. Wilson slowly releases their hand and WX lets it fall out.
He walks around them, looking at the boulders holding them down. It's not long before he attempts to lift one of the things.
WX winces as new pressure is applied to different spots of their ruined legs, but Wilson doesn't stop. They know he can't, unless he wants to put them in an even worse position.
The rock is moved, not by much, but enough to free one of WX's legs. The scientist is quick to pull off the next rock, now a bit more confident that he can.
When the rocks are off, WX pulls themselves forward, taking their ruined legs away from the mess. Wilson seems ready to grab them off the ground right there. The bot knew they were lightweight, but had the scientist always been so strong?
"SIGH," WX says, looking away from Wilson with vague grumpiness as they're lifted up. Their flurry of sudden, impulsive emotion was completely uncalled for. They have to remedy it with their usual demeanor until this incident is (hopefully) forgotten about.
